Sensitive skin. Care for sensitive skin. Sensitive skin care - treatments, products and homemade masks

Sensitive skin, like your emotional girlfriend, who sobs over every melodrama, overreacts to many things. On the components of cosmetics, on cold or heat, on dry air, tap water even to cigarette smoke. French researchers found that 62% of European women felt it on their own, in the literal sense, skin (source: British Journal of Dermatology).

Cosmetologists are unanimous: sensitivity is not a type of skin, but its condition, it is not an innate property of the epidermis, but an acquired one. Well then, let's look for causes of your troubles.

Allergy

What's happening? If, after applying a new, but trustworthy cream, the skin turns red and begins to itch, then know that this is an allergic reaction. yours the immune system mistook one of the ingredients of the product for an enemy agent and honestly tried to neutralize him. The most common allergen in cosmetics is perfume. But some preservatives (parabens, formaldehydes) can also cause your troubles.

What to do: Before using any new skin care product, do a hypoallergenic patch test. Put a drop of the product on the adhesive plaster and stick it on inside shoulder or forearm. Peel off after 24 hours and check for redness, peeling or blisters on the skin. If everything is clean, start using the product.

Take the choice of decorators seriously too: if the mascara contains nickel and chromium, the skin of the eyelids will not thank you. Opt for the black version, which is less allergenic than the colored one. Highly pigmented shadows (they give saturated color at one contact with the skin) replace with calm, beige or brown. Yes, and mineral decorative cosmetics are not so safe for sensitive skin, as is commonly believed. There are no preservatives and alcohol in such products, but mica, which acts as light-reflecting particles in the same powder, can provoke irritation. So is bismuth oxychloride, which is added to blushes, shadows, and powders to make them silky in texture. Switch to cream products and sleep well.

Vessels

What's happening? Anyone who walks with crimson cheeks in winter, any doctor will advise to strengthen the walls of blood vessels, which can lose strength due to frequent temperature changes, alcohol and spices.

What to do: Start taking supplements with omega-3 fatty acids to improve the elasticity of capillaries and other vessels.

Cosmetic procedures

If you want to involve professionals in solving your problem, choose non-contact methods, and injections and peels are not for you. Be sure to consider laser biorevitalization (during the procedure, the deep layers of the dermis are saturated with hyaluronic acid, tightness and dryness go away) and cryolift - it reduces the skin's sensitivity to cold and saturates it with oligoelements.

Hormones

What's happening? Skin condition may change with age. Even if you are still far from menopause, monthly fluctuations hormonal background can't be avoided. Taking oral contraceptives and pregnancy also increase the sensitivity of the skin to external factors. And, by the way, stress accelerates the course of oxidative processes and changes the level of hormones in the blood: the face may begin to redden and peel off.

What to do: First, stop worrying yourself, and then calm your skin: creams with glycerin and natural vegetable oils will help.

Aggressive external influence

What's happening? Cleaning agents, surfactants (surfactants), which are also found in shower and wash products, destroy lipids and thereby deprive the skin of a protective layer, as a result, provoke a feeling of tightness and dryness.

What to do: You need “washers” with mild sodium laureth sulfate (such products are usually more expensive than neighbors on the counter), but avoid products with the most common caustic sodium lauryl sulfate. Do not rush to switch to anti-aging cosmetics with fruit acids and retinol - these aggressors further dehydrate dry skin and make it sensitive.

If you have sensitive skin, stop washing your face with tap water. Replace it with a thermal or cleansing lotion.

photosensitivity

What's happening? This is the inflammatory response of the skin to ultra-violet rays. It makes itself felt by redness, peeling and hives.

What to do: If you're going to warmer climes, don't wear perfume in the sun. And try to plan a course of treatment so that taking antibiotics, diuretics and antifungal drugs does not fall on vacation. Use funds from high factor protection (SPF 30-50) and physical sunscreens - titanium dioxide, zinc oxide.

Important Rules

  1. If the person "rebelled", reduce the list of funds that you use daily. Leave in it the cleansing lotion, daytime and night cream s. Make sure that these products do not contain potential irritants (preservatives, fragrances, lauryl sulfate).
  2. The acidity of cosmetics should correspond to the pH of the protective mantle of the skin - it is 5-6. You can find this information on the product packaging or ask a consultant.
  3. Cleanse your skin gently, best of all with a micellar solution (many pharmacies have cosmetic brands). It does not degrease the skin.

  5. Extracts of green tea, chamomile, aloe and some macro- and microelements (Zn, Cu, Ca, Mg) will soothe already irritated skin.

Before purchase better explore

Sensitive skin - such a “diagnosis” is made by almost every third woman in Europe. Red spots and dots, a feeling of tightening of the skin, increased irritability of its individual sections - all these are signs of a special sensitivity of the skin. The main feature of such skin is its absolutely unpredictable reaction to substances that are part of skin care products. This is especially true for those products that are not intended for sensitive skin.

Sensitivity of the skin, as a rule, is acquired over the years. From birth, this phenomenon is rare. Skin sensitivity may be caused by whole line reasons, among which leading place occupies the wrong daily care behind the skin, or its absence, or too frequent experiments with cosmetics. Equally important are factors such as constant stress, increased irritability and nervousness, which can also cause skin sensitivity. Among other reasons due to which the skin begins to react painfully to the slightest irritants, it should be noted the transfer of some skin diseases such as rosacea, psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis. An unhealthy and unhealthy diet, including the abuse of salty, spicy and spicy foods, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, sweet carbonated drinks, black tea and coffee, as well as smoking, can also cause the skin to become dry and sensitive to external irritants. Other an important factor, which can also affect the occurrence of sensitivity, is the poor quality water that we use for washing. Worth mentioning about negative impact environmental factors and its pollution, which also contribute to the emergence of sensitivity. Quite often, the sensitivity of the skin is affected hormonal changes in the body, which occurs during pregnancy and lactation, as well as the period of menopause.

Sensitivity can occur in owners of any skin type (oily, dry, combination). However, most often it is dry skin that becomes sensitive due to the lack of subcutaneous fat and pigmentation that protect it from the effects of negative external factors.

Do not confuse hypersensitivity of the skin with allergies, because these are completely different things. Most often, an allergy can be triggered by a skin reaction to the use of one or more cosmetics, some foods, manifesting itself only after a few hours. Sensitive skin appears instantly in the form of irritation from almost any procedure.

Today, the cosmetic industry offers a huge range of various means for the care of sensitive skin, but even among this range it is very difficult to choose the product that really suits such “capricious” skin. Therefore, when choosing such products, you should carefully study the composition and characteristics of a particular product. It’s good if the product label contains marks like “for dry, sensitive skin”, “dermatologically tested”, “hypoallergenic”. If there is an opportunity to purchase a sampler of this or that product, use it without hesitation.

It should be noted that before solving the problem of skin sensitivity, it is necessary to identify the causes of its occurrence, since for each problem there is a solution.

Sensitive skin, like any skin type, has general principles care, the observance of which helps to significantly improve its external condition, eliminating irritation and redness, preserving youth and beauty. They include: cleansing, toning, moisturizing and nourishing.

Cleansing and toning.
When caring for sensitive skin, it is useful to wash your face daily in the morning with warm mineral or spring water. Tap water harms any skin, especially sensitive ones. In the evenings, cleansing milk should be used to remove make-up and impurities. After morning washing and evening cleansing, the skin needs toning. For this purpose, an alcohol-free tonic is ideal, which can be purchased at ready-made, but you can do it at home, which in this case is preferable. This remedy will refresh and soften sensitive skin and eliminate inflammation. For example, lemon tonic: squeeze the juice from one half of a lemon and strain it, mix with a teaspoon of glycerin and a quarter cup of water. This tonic can be stored in the refrigerator for a month. With a cotton pad previously moistened with tonic, wipe the skin, following the massage lines in a circular motion.

Hydration.
In the care of such capricious skin, it is necessary to be careful in the use of new cosmetics. According to experts, in the care of sensitive skin, it is necessary to use the simplest products, while in small quantities. Must use in the morning light daytime cream. The composition of such a product must necessarily contain sunscreen factors, as well as emollient fats. It is especially good if the cream is based on thermal water and mineral components. It is good if the day cream is based on thermal waters and with mineral components.

It should also be said that natural cosmetics, contrary to the beliefs of many women about their effectiveness and mild effect, can greatly irritate the skin and cause allergies. These remedies include those that contain arnica, chamomile and calendula plants.

Nutrition.
Night care for sensitive skin includes the application of a special night cream, which contains regenerating agents that promote wound healing, and special ingredients that provide skin protection and moisture accumulation, as well as activate oxygen metabolism in cells. These complex means care for sensitive skin often include allantoin, panthenol, which have a calming effect and smooth the skin, as well as kawain, which inhibits the development of inflammatory processes that arise under the influence of the environment, vitamins A and E.

Decorative cosmetics.
The main rule in caring for sensitive skin is not to overload it with decorative makeup products. At the same time, all cosmetics that you use must pass dermatological control. The ideal decorative cosmetics for sensitive skin are cosmetics with healing properties.

Face masks.
For sensitive skin, only moisturizers and nourishing masks on a light basis, easy to rinse. No sheet masks or hardening masks should be used as they draw moisture out of the skin, aggravating the skin condition. You should know that you can not apply a mask if you are allergic to any component contained in its composition.

Peeling.
Since sensitive skin has a very thin stratum corneum, which is naturally finely porous, the use additional funds with an exfoliating effect is not permissible, since they negatively affect the condition of the stratum corneum and further thin the skin. In addition, the abrasive particles that make up peels can severely damage the skin, causing serious eczema.

More thorough cleansing can be used in the care of sensitive skin, but the method should be gentle. For example, while washing, you can rub the skin with a terry mitten. Such manipulation will act as a soft peeling of the skin.

For sensitive skin, nervous stress is contraindicated, so it is necessary to protect it from everything that can cause stress. To do this, limit the consumption of foods that increase nervous tension (coffee, black tea, cola, champagne ...). Sun rays also negatively affect such skin, therefore, in spring and summer periods it is imperative to use creams with a high level of protection (SPF at least 15). The same goes for swimming in the pool. In this case, you should use a waterproof cream with a high sun protection factor, which will protect the skin from negative impact chlorinated water.

Only, I will make a reservation, all this is possible with a competent selection of procedures specifically for your skin by a qualified specialist. But since salon care skin care is simply impossible to carry out daily during the day, then home care is the main one, so it must be approached with all seriousness. Be sure to apply a nourishing cream to the skin after such a procedure.
