How to create your own perfume at home? Solid perfumes made from natural ingredients - practical DIY perfume

Solid perfumes are still highly valued in the East. They are considered more durable than liquid perfumes. And, besides, under the hot southern sun, a waxy aromatic mixture applied to the skin is harmless, unlike synthetic perfumes, and its smell remains unchanged (in artificial mixtures, under the influence of temperature, the components can decompose and the smell changes). It is noteworthy that in the East solid perfume packaged in incredibly beautiful flat cases, often decorated with precious stones. We will use a mini cosmetic jar and lipstick tubes. In the lip balm recipe, I already showed how you can use a 5 ml syringe to put a cosmetic mixture into an empty lipstick case.

Basic solid perfume recipe

Beeswax - 50%

Liquid oil odorless (jojoba, almond) - 50%

Essential oils.

In order to get 10 g of solid perfume, I took 5 g of wax, 5 g of jojoba oil and 15 drops of essential oils.

How to compose a scent?

For perfume, you can use one favorite essential oil or a mixture of several (up to 7) oils. Before composing a composition of several aromas, it is advisable to check the compatibility of essential oils using special tables on the Internet. There you can also select the composition according to its therapeutic effects (relaxing, stimulating, aphrodisiacs).

Aromas are divided into groups: floral, woody, citrus, spicy, resinous, exotic.

light oils evaporate within 20-30 minutes,

average for 30-90 minutes

heavy ones in 2-3 hours, and some in 5-6 hours.

For my perfume I chose the following composition of floral-woody aphrodisiac oils (with a duration of more than 3 hours):

rose essential oil - 5 drops

Jasmine essential oil - 1 drop

sandalwood essential oil - 1 drop

cedar essential oil - 5 drops

Frankincense essential oil - 3 drops.

I made the second batch of perfume (for a friend) from the ready-made perfume composition “5th Avenue” by Elizabeth Arden. These oil mixtures made by the Crimean enterprise "The Kingdom of Aromas". For 10 g of foundation I used one 1.3 g bottle.

Oil rosewood I took a photo, but during the magic process I gave up the idea of adding it) I didn’t like the smell)))

Procedure for preparing solid perfumes.

Using an electronic scale, measure 5 g of jojoba oil, this is about a tablespoon.

Jojoba oil is a stable oil, it does not go rancid for a long time, does not leave an oily sheen on the skin, and is an anti-inflammatory agent. Due to its ability to create a thin gas-permeable film on the skin, it is called liquid wax.

Grate the beeswax on a fine grater (so that it melts quickly and without lumps). Wax, like oils, is sold in specialized soap shops or in markets where they sell natural honey. Wax has bactericidal, wound-healing properties and is a natural preservative. You don’t need to add toxic preservatives to your own prepared perfumes; thanks to wax, their shelf life is at least 6 months.

Place the wax and oil in a heat-resistant cup (a ceramic cup will also work) and heat in a water bath. When heated, the wax and oil mix and turn into a homogeneous liquid. No need to boil! Quickly add to hot mixture essential oils, mix with a wooden toothpick. You can stir with a metal spoon, but because it is cold, cooling grains of base will immediately stick to it.

While the mixture is hot, pour it into a prepared container. Before use, thoroughly wash the cosmetic jar, wipe dry with a napkin and wipe with vodka to disinfect.

However, you can use a method already familiar to us. Draw 5 ml of hot mixture into syringes. Cool the syringes in the refrigerator. Cut off the tip of each syringe and squeeze the frozen column of waxy mixture into an empty lipstick case. Compact solid perfume is ready!

The aroma of perfume can emphasize femininity and individuality, reveal the image, or vice versa.

It is important to study all the details on your own in this matter or trust a professional perfumer.

We'll tell you how to make perfume at home.

It turns out that creating a perfume composition is very easy. The most important component of this magical effect oils are sources of uniqueness. Oils are strictly selected best quality from good, trusted companies. It is better to purchase from the manufacturer itself. Much of the success in this perfume work depends on this.

What is needed for this

Aromatic essences by nature have volatile properties. If a fragrant liquid is applied to the body, the odor emitted changes over time. Knowing all the composition rules described below, it is easy to understand how to make perfume at home. Perfumers combine components with different aromas to create a “base”. It is divided into several “notes”:

Base note (base note);

Heart note;

Top note (head).

From the time of application, their period of active action begins: they evaporate and emit aroma in turn - from top to bottom.

The base note is considered the most persistent in the composition.. The aroma lasts from twelve to 24 hours after application. The duration of action is directly related to the specific essential oils used by the perfumer.

Heart note- This is the first element of the composition. By interacting with other essential oils, it reveals their shades and opens up new sensations.

Top note– quickly evaporating essential oils. You can call them citrus fruits.

All fragrant liquids contain one of the listed additional elements: distilled water, alcohol, coconut, jojoba, and sweet almond oils. It is believed that every woman should have her own special (genetic) scent, which can only be composed by a sensitive master.

Step by step instructions

First, you need to put the following things on your desk:

Distilled water, real spring water;

The existence of a long-lasting aroma is ensured by glycerin in a small proportion;

Fresh coffee (used to renew the sense of smell);

The essential oils themselves;

Required: notebook, pen, from 5 to 15 clean pharmaceutical pipettes, paper strips 0.4 by 10 cm, bottles for future aromatic essence.

If you make perfume at home with a strong aroma, the combined liquid should contain 70% essential oils. For a delicate scent - 20 percent.

To obtain perfume with a “long-lasting” aroma, the resulting liquid must be infused: first for 48 hours in a dark and cold place (not in refrigeration) and after adding water (if the base is 80 milliliters - a couple of tablespoons) and glycerin (a few drops) - another 48 hours. There are recommendations for infusion (before adding water and glycerin) for one month. Experts assure that spirits require both good wine, time to mature.

Oils are applied 1 drop at a time onto paper testers and brought to the nose, and the best aromas you like are selected. Preferences are indicated in the notebook.

It is believed that the best ratio in a composition is the ratio 1:2:3 (head:heart:base).

After the composition of essential oils is ready, the work ends with the addition of alcohol or jojoba oil, or olive oil, or distilled water, or pure spring water. In the case of preparing dry perfumes, a combination of fatty oil and wax is added.

To be stored for a long time

If stored carelessly, the resulting composition may become cloudy, lose its exquisite aroma, and even evaporate. However, even the highest quality perfumes have a shelf life of no more than 3 years.

Firstly, perfume is best stored in a dark place. It is better to keep the bottle in a box and not expose it to direct sun rays.

Secondly, great importance The sealing of the bottle helps to extend the shelf life. Perfume with a spray bottle is best stored.

Thirdly, when applying perfume to your body, do not use your fingers in this process. This is unnecessary and unnecessary skin contact with perfume. You must use a disposable plastic stick or something similar.

And in conclusion, nothing stands the test of time, but the best quality perfumes... oil based- are stored the longest. Therefore, natural perfumes are much more expensive than their competitors. Homemade or store-bought perfumes with an alcohol base, even from a sealed bottle, slowly evaporate when exposed to heat. They should only be stored in the refrigerator in closed containers.

It happens that for years we cannot choose our perfect perfume, getting lost among hundreds of aromatic compositions and brands. This is not surprising, because the majority cosmetic brands The mass market class offers us banal fragrances, which, moreover, are created on the basis of synthetic ingredients. A completely different matter is niche perfumery, which is produced exclusively from natural oils and extracts.

Unfortunately, the cost of such perfumes is prohibitively high. But there is another option: self-creation perfumery masterpiece, namely solid perfumes. Unlike liquid perfume alcohol based, solid perfumes are much easier to make, and in terms of durability they are in no way inferior to store-bought perfumes. But their main advantage is that you can independently develop the entire fragrance pyramid.

Technology for creating solid perfumes

The convenience of using creamy or solid perfumes is undeniable, because you can carry them with you without fear of spilling, and due to the oily texture, the aroma lasts a long time on the skin even on hot summer days. Among other things, perfume creation is incredible creative process, which does not require strict adherence to dosage and gives you room for imagination. In addition, solid perfumes are considered a simple perfume.

For their production, solid base and fragrant essential oils are required. The first thing you should remember is that the safety and durability of your homemade perfume directly depends on the quality of the essential oils used. Safety, first of all, means hypoallergenicity of all ingredients. The fact is that inexpensive synthetic oils very often provoke the appearance of allergic reactions in the form of rash, irritation and itching.

Truly high-quality essential oils will never be cheap!

Therefore, take care in advance of the highest quality of all components. Except positive influence on the skin and well-being, perfumes must be long-lasting, otherwise the very idea of making them is meaningless. Again, only the highest quality essential oils are long-lasting. Therefore, do not skimp on essential oils, because in the end your perfume will still turn out cheaper than niche scents.

It is most convenient to store solid perfumes in small medallions, jars with lids or special pendants in the shape of small bubbles. In addition to a pleasant aroma, dry perfumes can have a positive effect on health, since essential oils have soothing, tonic and other beneficial therapeutic properties. So, you will need beeswax, as well as a carrier oil and essential oil.

Beeswax must be grated on a fine grater, mixed with base oil and heated in a water bath until the ingredients are completely dissolved. After this, you need to cool the mixture slightly and add essential oils to it. Then all that remains is to pour the perfume into the selected container and wait for it to completely harden. When creating a new perfume, it is recommended to write down the ratio of oils so that, if desired, you can accurately reproduce the scent you like.

Perfume compositions of dry perfumes

To choose, as perfumers say, your ideal heart notes, after creating the perfume, be sure to let it brew for 24 hours. During this time, periodically inhale the aroma and get used to it. Then apply the perfume to the inside of your wrist and near your earlobes. Select the shades of fragrance that appeal to you most and use them in your perfume compositions.

In addition, often solid perfume Packed in the most elegant boxes, opening which is already a holiday. Many manufacturers create special limited editions of solid perfumes in special cases that become coveted by collectors.

A little history

According to historians, solid perfumes are the origins of perfumery. A long time ago, back in the days of the jaded pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, perfume compositions were created not on the basis of alcohol or ether, but on a denser base of some neutral, odorless fat with wax. Precious spices and essential oils, musk, amber or incense were added to them - thus creating an individual aroma, which in those days was highly valued.

In the Arab East, this particular form of perfume has been popular for centuries, because in dry and hot climates the aroma lasts the longest if it has a solid substance as a base - fat, wax, and not volatile compounds.

Solid spirits walked along with humanity for a long time, until at the beginning of the 20th century they began to be replaced by ordinary perfumes, in the usual way for us liquid form. By the way, at the end of the 20th century they were gradually and almost universally replaced by sprays, that is eau de toilette with a sprayer that allows you to apply the aroma in a much lighter concentration by simply pressing a button.

The world of Estee Lauder solid perfumes

Among the many manufacturers of solid perfumes different levels The legendary house of Estee Lauder stands apart in terms of quality. The manufacturer of everything that is dear to a woman's heart, the cosmetics company Estee Lauder not only treats the solid form of perfume with trepidation - the brand's designers have always paid attention to solid perfumes Special attention. It's not just about business: the production of Estee Lauder solid perfumes has become a beautiful tradition, which was started more than forty years ago by the founder of the brand, the magnificent Estee Lauder herself.

In 1967, the company released the first solid perfume, which was developed by Estee Lauder personally - The Youth Dew Boutique Oval may not look as glamorous as its descendants, but collectors are ready to pay for original sample a lot of money! Since then, Estee Lauder has presented limited collections of solid perfumes every year (and sometimes several times a year). A feature of such holiday editions is not only the catastrophically small number of solid perfumes going on sale, but also the design solutions for the cases in which they are contained.

Thanks to collaboration with famous sculptors, artists and designers, more than 1600 have seen the light since 1967 beautiful creations jewelry and perfume art. The collection is constantly located at Estee Lauder headquarters in New York, periodically traveling to exhibitions in different parts of the world.

How to use solid perfume

In the modern perfume industry, solid perfumes are more of a stylish delicacy than an ordinary detail, but their convenience and elegance are appreciated by everyone who has ever used them. In addition, solid perfumes are relatively safe for the health of allergy sufferers, since they are most often made on the basis of solid vegetable oils (jojoba, shea, coconut), mixed with wax and scented either with natural essential oils or with a perfume composition of the main aroma.

Another undoubted advantage of solid perfumes is ease of use. Just apply a little perfume to the pulse zones (on the wrist, behind the ear, in the hollow between the breasts, on the back of the head, in the elbow pits - in principle, it doesn’t matter where, whoever likes it). There is no need to apply a lot; one light stroke is enough. There is also no need to use any special devices for such a simple operation: even refined ladies from high society apply solid perfume with their fingers. As reviews indicate, solid perfumes play and unfold on the skin a little differently than their liquid counterparts, creating a more enveloping and sophisticated aroma.

How to make solid perfume

You can make solid perfumes with your own hands from available materials. Precisely because the entire manufacturing process is accessible and simple, this opens up wide scope for experimentation. Creating an individual scent is easy; it requires very little time and some ingredients that can be purchased in literally every city. However, be careful: in such volumes, every drop is important.

Ingredients:

  • beeswax or purified medical paraffin;
  • base oil (any solid, odorless vegetable oil - almond, coconut or jojoba), vitamin E;
  • essential oils;
  • container for the finished product (preferably ceramic, glass or stone, but plastic will also work);
  • straw or glass stirring rod, pipette;
  • small heat-resistant bowl;
  • pot.

First you need to make a base. To do this, measure out the required amount of wax (paraffin) and base oil - in our case, one tablespoon each. Place the wax in a heat-resistant container.

  • Place the vessel in a water bath (you will need a saucepan of boiling water for this), this will allow the ingredients to melt quickly.
  • When the wax becomes liquid, add base oil.
  • Remember, you need to melt the base over very low heat!
  • Wait until the ingredients become completely liquid, stir evenly.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add the selected essential oils - one or more, of your choice (some prefer to mix the oils separately and add a ready-made composition).
  • If you want, add vitamin E (a drop), it will act as an antioxidant and preservative.

Stir, but remember important nuance: You need to stir with as thin an object as possible (a straw, a toothpick, for example) or a heated instrument (you can heat it with a special glass rod). Otherwise, the wax will stick and harden on the stick, fall off into the mixture and create lumps there. This will significantly degrade the quality of the final product. However, if this happens, you can heat the mixture again in a water bath.

While the mixture is liquid, pour it into the prepared container. After about half an hour, the mixture will harden and be ready to use as a solid perfume.

Remember, solid perfumes can be not only pleasant, but also useful, because the therapeutic properties of essential oils have not been canceled!

  • cedar and cypress repel insects and treat fungus;
  • chamomile and lavender relax;
  • orange and ginger warm;
  • sage helps you concentrate;
  • Ylang Ylang makes a great neutral tone for both men and women.

Solid perfume recipes

For all the options for the solid perfume recipes presented below, the base (wax and oil) remains the same, one tablespoon each.

Option 1: tested by True-Lady - floral scent in vintage style

  • 6 drops orange essential oil;
  • 4 drops of ylang-ylang oil;
  • 4 drops of bergamot oil;
  • 3 drops of rosewood essential oil;
  • 3 drops of frankincense oil;
  • 2 drops of jasmine oil.

Option 2: True-Lady tested - feminine floral scent

  • 5 drops of jasmine essential oil;
  • 4 drops rose essential oil;
  • 2 drops of ylang-ylang oil;
  • 2 drops of cedar essential oil.

Option 3: True-Lady tested - soft relaxing aroma

  • 7 drops vanilla oil;
  • 7 drops of lavender oil;
  • 3 drops sweet orange oil;
  • 3 drops of ylang-ylang essential oil.

In principle, you can add 10-15 drops of your favorite perfume to the mixture of basic ingredients (wax and oil) (but just perfume, a lighter concentration will disappear).

In order to create harmonious perfume compositions, you need very little. First of all, this is, of course, practice and in second place is basic knowledge about the compatibility of flavors.

Remember, they are friends with each other:

  • grapefruit, ginger and veterinum;
  • rose, lime and vetiver;
  • orange, ylang-ylang and cedar.

Although, in fact, there are no mysterious rules for properly mixing essential oils, it is purely a matter of personal preference. In addition, no one forbids you to use solo essential oils, and not several pieces. After all, if you don’t like the composition of solid perfumes you put together, you can give it to someone else!

It would seem, why make perfume yourself, since the production of high-quality perfumed products is established in France and Russia, Italy, the UAE, Holland and other countries? However, many lovers of exclusive products try to create original, unexpected scents on their own. One of the reasons is the desire to get a product made from natural ingredients, completely without preservatives or chemical additives.

What can perfume be made from?

Before starting perfume experiments with scents, you need to acquire various necessary ingredients, equipment and patience. How to make perfume with your own hands? You can use alcohol, wax, rose or other flower petals, and essential aromatic oils.

To obtain the final bouquet of several scents, take strips of ordinary thin paper and apply a drop of essential oil to each with a pipette. How to make perfume at home? Samples (strips) must be signed in advance. Smelling 2 or 3 strips at a time, changing their combinations, creates a composition of aromas. Then the resulting combination is fixed in the selected base:

  • liquid, light on alcohol;
  • hard wax;
  • resistant oil.

To obtain a rich aroma, the content of essential oils must be more than 30%. To obtain soft perfumes, volatile oils are added only in amounts of about 10%. How to make your own perfume? You need to follow simple advice from experienced perfumers and follow simple rules.

Each aromatic bouquet affects the olfactory organs sequentially in three stages:

  • high, head note;
  • “heart” of future spirits;
  • the bottom note or base, which is the basis of the future aroma.

In the very first few minutes after application, light essential oils evaporate. Among them are citrus fruits, nutmeg oil, rosemary, lavender, basil, lemon, bergamot. This stage is called the “head” stage.

The second period of exposure (heart) can last from several hours to a full day. The heart, the main aroma of the perfume can be juniper and lily, oregano, rose and jasmine, iris, ylang-ylang, geranium and other persistent incense.

The base for perfumes is the smells of the most stable essential oils, among which are vanilla and patchouli, spicy and fruity aromas, the smells of cedar and musk, sandalwood and cinnamon. When learning how to make perfume with your own hands, it is important to remember the traditional proportions of the components. Fragrances are traditionally combined in a ratio of 1:2:3 (head: heart: base).

What to prepare

How to make homemade perfume? First of all, you need to prepare the necessary ingredients and equipment in advance. What you may need:

  • strips of thin paper for obtaining samples;
  • several essential oils with light and more intense aromas;
  • a little natural coffee (for inhalation) to improve sensitivity to odors;
  • several ordinary pharmacy pipettes (separately for each oil);
  • stick - stirrer made of glass or ceramics;
  • a notepad or notebook for recording the number (drops) of components;
  • alcohol and a little distilled water for light perfume;
  • wax for solid versions of the fragrant mixture;
  • bottles and mini-jars with tight lids;
  • ceramic or glass container for mixing ingredients.

It is not recommended to use metal or plastic utensils to avoid the reaction of essential oils with these materials.

Perfume base

Oils from grape seeds, cocoa, almond and honey, clove and galbanum, benzoin and styrax can become basic basis for your own perfume. When creating unique scents of their own, many people want to know exactly how to make perfume. At home, it is very important to keep a record of every drop of oil or base substance added to a perfume bouquet.

The carrier substance for perfume can be either oil, water or alcohol. Oil-based fragrances last longer and have a more muted aroma; alcohol-based fragrances reveal themselves more easily and more fully on the surface of the skin, but have less durability and more strong odors. Almond oil is an excellent base. It perfectly dissolves any essential oils without changing their specific odors. If you dissolve 2-3 drops of the selected aroma in one teaspoon of almond oil, you will get a wonderful long-lasting oil perfume that has a beneficial effect on the skin.

Do I need to take into account the intensity of odors?

It is best, when experimenting with the process of “how to make perfume at home,” to choose ingredients that only cause pleasant sensations. Otherwise, these odors can negatively affect your overall well-being.

Base oils should have a weaker aroma than the “heart” perfume so as not to overshadow the idea of the main composition.
