But we got distracted. We will talk about aromatic sachets. About what it is, what it is used for, and most importantly, how to make it aromatic sachet on one's own.

Aromatic sachets are bags filled with medicinal, fragrant herbs and, as a rule, soaked essential oils.

In ancient times, when cleanliness was not the main virtue of not only the common people, but also the nobility, when lice and fleas were their constant companions, to scare away these bloodsuckers, as well as to give a more pleasant smell to their body, gentlemen and young ladies wore aromatic perfumes around their necks. sachet. We also bring to your attention a master class on making decorative bottles with dry products.

For example, lavender is calming nervous system, removes headache, reduces inflammation of joints and muscles.

Rosemary, which has a wonderful aroma, has long been used for flavoring. Rosemary also has a general strengthening and tonic effect and at the same time relieves nervous tension. Rosemary also helps to heal from colds.

The violet has long been considered a magical flower. It is believed that violet brings peace and light to a sachet or amulet. Gives people energy boost, balances emotional condition, gives a charge of vivacity and positivity.

Making an aromatic sachet, in general, is not difficult. To do this, we are preparing a collection for an aromatic sachet. In our case, we will make sachet from lavender, chamomile, rosemary and violet.

All the herbs were bought at the market, from a grandmother I know, who collects them herself.

Place in a container:

  • rosemary – 1 part;
  • lavender – 1 part;
  • chamomile – 1 part;
  • violet – 1 part.

Now we grind all the herbs with a mortar. The result is a mixture of crushed herbs. When grinding, the aroma spreads throughout the kitchen!

What natural scents to use at home and how to make sachet at home are interconnected questions. After all, to create coziness in your home, it is not at all necessary to constantly buy expensive bouquets of fresh flowers. You can also fill the room with a pleasant and relaxing aroma using sachets of dry plants.

How to make sachets at home from dry plants

Sachet is a word of French origin, it translates as “bag”. Several centuries ago, wealthy Parisians hung small silk bags filled with fragrant herbs or flower petals in their homes. This tradition has survived to this day.

Good aroma in the house has been valued at all times and now it is also relevant. That is why today, when you come to visit someone, you can often see miniature bags in the kitchen, bedroom or living room. Moreover, each individual room has its own unique collection with a special aroma. And most often, sachets for the home are made with their own hands, since it is the housewife who can choose the scents to suit the temperament of each family member and common rooms.

How to make a sachet yourself?

You need to take a small bag (bag) made of natural fabric. It can be burlap, linen or cotton. This fabric allows air to pass through well, so the fragrant aroma will spread unhindered throughout the house. You can buy a ready-made bag, or even better, sew a sachet with your own hands, choosing the color and size according to your preferences.

DIY sachet fillers

What to use as filling? You can collect the herbs yourself and then dry them in a shaded place. For those who do not have this opportunity, it is recommended to buy ready-made raw materials. Dried citrus peels, coffee beans and other products with strong persistent odor. But it is important to remember that some of them can cause allergic reactions.

It is advisable to mix the components for the sachet in a large container, this makes it easier to adjust the aroma and quantity of herbs. For men's sachets it is better to use spicy fillings, and for women's sachets it is better to use more delicate aromas. For example, for suitable for men a combination of basil, lemongrass and birch bark - three quite strong components, and women will like a sachet of peony petals, roses and mint leaves. If the herbs or inflorescences are too large, then they should be chopped a little so that they give off a better smell.

Fragrant sachets can be used and placed anywhere: in the car, in the closet, in the kitchen, in the children's room or bathroom. A “calm” mixture of rose petals, lavender and yarrow is suitable for the bedroom. And, by the way, do not forget that some additives in the sachet can also be used as mosquito repellents.

But rosemary, thyme, mint and lemon balm will help support immunity during the period of rampant colds. For the kitchen - lavender, rose petals and sage. In the nursery you can leave a bag with chamomile, lavender and rose petals.

Do you want to find your own scent? Then you'll have to experiment a little. No matter how it turns out, the house will still be filled with coziness, comfort and an unforgettable aroma. We hope these ideas on how to make sachets at home will be useful and you will easily find natural flavors for yourself.

Scented sachets have been used by housewives for a long time. Sachet is a small decorative pillow filled with hard aromatic herbs and dried flowers. They were traditionally placed in closets next to clothes and bed linen, as well as at the head of the bed.

Nowadays, aromatic sachets are no longer hidden in cabinets, although this method of use is not outdated. It's simple and wonderful way scent the space around you: room, bathroom, closet or car.

Today, manufacturers offer many options for scented pillows with fragrant mixtures. But, I am sure that it is much more pleasant to make an aromatic bag with your own hands when you know exactly what is included in its filling.

Sachet scents should be chosen wisely and tastefully.

For linen it is better to use: dried oregano, dried lavender, mint, blackcurrant leaf, pink petals, orange peels, cinnamon sticks, clove stars, lemon. Thanks to them, your clothes will always be fresh and fragrant.

You can buy ready-made mixtures of dried flowers for sachets (in stores you can find very interesting options, for example, with the smell of the sea).

In the nursery, it is best to hang an aromatic pillow containing rose petals, sage herb, dill seeds, lavender flowers, chamomile, soaked in essential oils of chamomile, lemon balm and sage.

Verbena, geranium, rose petals and valerian are popular in the bedroom.

The aroma of lemon balm will bring you peace and tranquility, refresh you, relieve headaches and give you sound sleep.

The smell of citrus fruits is more stimulating, it may even prevent you from falling asleep, but it will wonderfully help you forget about the daily routine of the work day.

Coniferous scents of cedar, juniper or pine act as antiseptics, soften mood swings, and relieve heartache.

Do not allow scents such as jasmine, daffodils, lilies, lilies of the valley, bird cherry into the bedroom - no matter how much you like them, otherwise you have a chance to spend a lot of time restless nights in the fight against headaches and nightmares.

The most popular scent is lavender. Firstly, it lasts a long time, secondly, it drives away parasites such as moths, and thirdly, it has a very beneficial effect on our health, has a calming effect, and relieves stress.

The fillers of the fragrant bag can be herbs with pleasant odors or natural plant extracts (essential oils). You yourself can create compositions whose aromas will permeate the space around you.

Aromatic sachets are easy to make with your own hands. I would like to present to your attention several types of aromatic sachet bags.

They vary in appearance, filling, as well as the materials from which they were sewn.

Let's start with a rectangular sachet bag, which you can decorate to your liking, and also take completely different materials.

I took regular canvas for the bag itself, and for finishing I used pink chintz and printed calico.

For the filling I used a purchased aromatic sachet of dried flowers, left over after making. Others can be used natural ingredients: dried aromatic herbs, dried orange slices, coffee beans and even flavored tea with a pleasant rich aroma.

Let's start by cutting out the details of our bag: height 17 cm, width 13 cm.

I cut the decorative strips by eye. I loosened the pink chintz along the lower edges by pulling out the longitudinal threads.

We put printed calico with roses on pink chintz, secure everything with pins on both sides of the patterns, at an equal distance from the bottom edge of the bag.

We sew our decorative strips along the bottom and top edges of the printed calico, and then sew the bottom of the bag.

We make sure that everything matches and stitch on the sides. We sew the resulting corners of the bag diagonally and turn them inside out. We bend the top edge and process it on a sewing machine.

If you have a very small bag filler, then it is better to sew an inner bag of a slightly smaller size, for example, from madapolam (French: madapolam - after the name of the city of Madapolam in India - cotton fabric plain weave, smooth and hard to the touch, with a glossy surface) or other very thin fabric.

Place the filler in a madapolam bag, sew it up, and then put it in the main bag.

We tie the bag with either a ribbon or linen rope and decorate it to your taste. I used foamiran. Here's what I got…

Now I want to talk about another type of aromatic sachet, when the filler uses sawdust or unflavored tea with the addition of aromatic oils or cosmetic fragrances.

Here I decided to give the sachets the shape of pillows and decorate them satin ribbon.

From the materials I took yellow printed calico with a pattern and madapolam: width - 13 cm, length - 15 cm.

The filler is sawdust, which can be bought at any pet store.

Let's start first by cutting out our pads.

Two cushions in printed calico with a pattern and one in yellow calico. We also cut out a bag of madapolam.

To begin with, we sew on sewing machine our bags, we leave free one side, which is narrower.

Now let's start creating our filler. Let's take it a small amount of sawdust, which could roughly fit into our bag.

We put it in some container and add ours there aromatic oil or cosmetic fragrance, no more than 5-7 drops. We don’t drop everything at once, but 2 or 1 drop at a time and mix until it disperses throughout the contents.

Instead of sawdust, you can use tea without flavoring additives. I used sawdust and cosmetic fragrance.

We place our delicious-smelling sawdust in a madapolam bag and sew it up, and then into the main pad bag.

We fill only one pillow with aromatic sawdust, yellow color, and we will fill the other two with padding polyester.

Now we need to sew up our pads so that the seams are not visible. Take a needle and thread and carefully sew it up with a blind stitch.

All that remains is to decorate our pillows with satin ribbon.

We place our yellow pad in the middle, fix all the pads with hot glue, squeezing a little glue into the middle, and lay the pads on top of each other. We take a satin ribbon and wrap it around our pillows, gluing its ends with hot glue in the center of the top pillow.

We make roses from the same satin ribbon and decorate the pillows with them.

To create a harmonious and beautiful composition I used ready-made leaves from artificial flowers. Supplemented with white ready-made flowers.

It turned out really nothing...

A self-made aroma bag can be filled with the aroma that you collect yourself.

Think about what you prefer most, what fruits, flowers, herbs your family loves - thus, without special labor You will create the desired composition.

Such fabric bags also serve as a wonderful decoration for rooms, a source of pleasant aroma and freshness, and also an excellent means of aromatherapy. Do-it-yourself aromatic bags can also become a good gift for your family and friends.

I wish you creative success!
