DIY wicker baskets from various materials. Baskets made from scraps of fabric

IN Lately increasingly you can see in the interior of an apartment or house various elements DIY decor. Of course, it is easier to purchase such crafts in specialized online stores and various exhibitions and fairs, but it is much more interesting to make such decorative elements yourself. You can immediately start making any large-scale crafts, but it would be more advisable to first practice on simple products. Great option are small baskets for fruits, sweets or other pleasant little things. The process of weaving a basket is very interesting and exciting, and the result of the work will delight others with its appearance for a long time.

Wicker basket made of newspapers

Making a newspaper basket with your own hands is very simple. First of all, you need to make a newspaper “vine”. For these purposes, you will need all the old newspapers available at home. Each piece of newspaper should be divided into two parts vertically, and newspaper tubes should be made using a knitting needle. To prevent the tubes from unwinding, the free end is secured with PVA glue. To work you will need a lot of similar blanks.

So that the basket has attractive appearance, all the resulting blanks need to be painted. For painting, you can use water-based paint or water-based stain. The blanks will have a beautiful appearance, if you paint each newspaper tube separately.

You should also decide on the size and shape of the basket. You can use a shoebox as a base. The cut out bottom of the box can serve as the bottom of the basket. In this case, the ends of the blank tubes must be glued to the cardboard and weaving begins. All the tubes, except one, must be lifted up, and the remaining ones must be carefully braided into the vertical ones. You can extend blanks from newspaper using PVA glue. A ready-made wicker basket made from newspapers will perfectly decorate satin ribbons, fabric drapery or artificial flowers. The basket will become more durable and retain its appearance longer if it is coated with several layers of acrylic varnish.

Such baskets will not only decorate any interior, but also a great gift for family and friends.

Wicker basket made from scraps of fabric

An interesting version of wicker baskets are baskets made from scraps of unnecessary fabric. Such baskets turn out to be very bright and unusual. In order to make a nice, stable basket that will keep its shape, you will need the following materials and tools:

Scraps of fabric;
Several tight bags;
Narrow tape;
Large needle;
Scissors;
Crochet hook.

Making such a basket is quite simple. To create a frame, you can use not only bags; rope or wire will also work. The prepared bags must be cut into thin strips, twisted into bundles, and secured every 10 cm of the resulting bundle with thin tape. To work, you should prepare 2 types of shreds. One, 2-4 cm wide, for wrapping the frame. Such patches can be of any length. Others are for weaving the basket itself. The width of the patches for weaving should be 1.5 cm and the length of about a meter. Shreds for weaving can be tied together with ordinary knots. They can be easily hidden when the work is finished. To prevent the fabric from unwinding when winding the frame, it can be fixed with a needle. The bundles of bags wrapped in shreds are woven together in long shreds for weaving. It should be noted that the color of the product depends on the color of the weaving scraps used. Weaving and determining the shape of the future basket is done using a crochet hook.

Wicker basket made of laundry cord

A basket made of cord is useful for any housewife. In addition, its production will take very little time and effort. To work, you will need any synthetic or cotton cord with a thickness of at least 5 mm. The basket will be more stable if you choose a cotton cord for work. You will also need threads for this work. It would be better if they were the same color as the cord.

If you use a synthetic cord for work, you must melt the edge a little. Cord from natural material you just need to trim it carefully. The edge of the cord must be slightly bent and secured with wire, needle or thread. The shape of the basket will depend on how far the end of the cord is bent.

You need to sew a basket from linen cord on sewing machine. In order for the machine to connect two cords, it is necessary to set a zigzag stitch on it. They begin to sew the cord from the center, then gradually wrap it into a snail and stitch each resulting turn. Thus, it is necessary to continue working until the bottom of the basket reaches the required size. To raise the edges of the product, each turn of the cord should be pulled slightly. When the basket reaches the required height, all that remains is to secure the edge of the cord. To do this, you can attach a loop to the basket, or sew a braid on top of the product.

And again, textile baskets, I’m completely obsessed with them, I guess :) This craftswoman makes them from strips of silk and using some technique that is not yet familiar to me, but I can figure it out if I have the desire! Look how beautiful it is!

Sewing from fabric scraps, patterns

Crocheting is very popular now. And to look fashionable, you need to learn how to make air loop, columns, because these days no one can do without openwork and embossed hand-knitted items. Today we will learn how to do crocheted cart. Crocheting is a very comfortable and easy activity, and you will learn it very quickly if you follow my explanations and drawings. Practice a little, and in just two days you will have a new, trendy knitted accessory. So let's learn how to make a crocheted basket, for which we just need scraps, waste fabrics, unnecessary tablecloths, from which today you will learn how to make a homemade rope. I really like knitted baskets from fabric. I think everyone wants to learn this. And when you have a free minute, you will make it with your own hands in a few hours unique gift to your loved ones: for example, when you are sitting in front of the TV, or when you are waiting for the children in the school or gym yard. You can make our basket very quickly. And if you have never crocheted before, then now you will learn how to make a crocheted basket. And you will get an impressive and practical result.

Let's start.

Today we will make baskets from rag rope. These ropes make thicker and shorter baskets, although they are very strong. If you don’t have the fabric you need to make a rope with your own hands or you simply don’t want to waste your precious time on this activity, buy such a rope in a special store.

What we need:

12 mm crochet hook

Cotton fabric

And something comfortable to weave the rope on (I used the thick part of the dowel, but you can use the thick part instead cardboard paper or something different)

To make the gray and blue basket, 22 x 9 in diameter, I used approximately 1.6 meters of my homemade cotton rope, which I made from scraps of various fabrics.

First, let's learn how to make ropes from rags and yarn.

Cut off unnecessary edges from fabrics.

Then tear the fabric into long strips. To do this, use scissors to make a small cut in the fabric and tear along its length, not reaching the end, leaving up to 2 cm untorn. The strips should be 4 cm wide. We make the next cut from the top, and again tear the fabric without reaching the end (as shown in the picture). And in this way we tear the entire fabric until it turns out to be a whole torn strip. In the same way, tear all your tissues.

To make a fabric yarn, tie one end to a doorknob and extend further along the length of the fabric. Now start twisting it in one direction until the fabric is curved along its entire length. The fabric must receive round shape. From the end of the fabric that you have in your hands, start weaving to the other end onto the tongue. You can make yarn from other fabrics using the same method.

If you find an assistant, you will be able to twist a longer rope than you can do alone. First, slightly wet the fabric rope, but not too much, otherwise you will be squeezing out the water all the time while tying.

If you twist on your own, be careful, one wrong move and your rope will spin backwards. Better ask for help. And taking from both ends, start twisting in the opposite direction until the fabric is tightly twisted.

You're probably already tired of explanations and photographs, right? No problem, relax and continue!

Let's start knitting!

The first thing you need to do is a magic ring.

This is the hardest part, when you do it, everything else will seem like an easy game.

Leaving the tail approximately 20cm below your hand, lift the yarn between your thumb and with your first finger and hold it like that.

Wrap the yarn over three of your fingers, then under your fingers so that an X is formed across your fingers (Photo 1). Hold the yarn with your little finger.

Pass the crochet hook under the first part of the X and over the second part (photo 2).

With the hook, pull the second piece under the first and pull it through the first so that the hook is on top (photo 3, 4). (Fig. 7)

Remove the ring from your fingers (photo 5). Then take the ring in left hand holding the knot between the thumb and second finger, and holding the yarn on the first finger, holding the hook in right hand, like a pencil. Wrap the yarn around the hook (photo 6) and bring it to the loop. There should be one chain stitch.

This stitch is the only tricky part you have to learn... Make a hook through the center of the ring (Pic 7).

Bring and hook the rope so that the hook is at the bottom (photo 7). Thread the rope onto the hook and remove it through the center of the ring. Now you have two hook loops (photo 9).

Wrap the yarn around the hook (photo 10) and pull it out of the loop. Continue in the same way until you have eight rings.

Make sure your stitches are not too tightly twisted - like in the photos - so that it will be easy to work with later.

If you have eight stitches on a loop, you drag the hook to close the loops.

Beginning with magic rings a little complicated, but it's The best way make sure you don't have a big hole in the middle of your basket. (photo 13).

If necessary, attach new yarn. To do this, you can simply tie a double knot. The node should be hidden in the basket texture.

Or, you can do it this way: open the end of the yarn and place the new yarn inside it, overlapping them by about 8 cm.

Continue knitting, but only take two loops at a time. As you begin to do this, you will notice that the side begins to rise up. Crochet until you reach the desired height.

And in the end:

Cut the yarn this way and leave the tip of the rope up to 20cm long. Wrap the yarn around the hook and pull it through the loop. Pull the stitch as shown in the photo below left, and then poke the end of the yarn a few stitches to secure it and hide the tail (photo above right).

You will probably think that this is the longest lesson of your life. Do as shown in the photos and you will learn how to make a crochet basket.

Admit it, it's beautifully done. Your work and time spent have paid off positive result.

All you need to make such a basket with your own hands is scraps of fabric, thread and some skills in working with a sewing machine. Although, if you don’t have one in the house, you can carefully sew the basket by hand (it’s exactly like you’ll get it yourself). Further step by step photo making a basket...

That's all. The basket of fabric scraps is ready!

For many, hand-made things are of great value because they help create an atmosphere of comfort.

The decor becomes more original, original details appear that bring individual features to the interior.

In modern stores it is very big choice interior accessories. Various useful little things can be quite expensive, especially when you need not 2-3 pieces, but a whole set of baskets, vases, paintings, etc.

For this reason, many people choose the option where they can decorate the house themselves.

You can get many advantages from such an idea - the thing will turn out beautiful and exactly what you need - it will be easy to use and fit into the overall interior. At the same time, you won’t need to spend on it big money or it will be completely free if all the materials are available.

Storage systems will always be useful in the home. Wicker baskets perform such functions perfectly. The process itself can even turn into a hobby that you can engage your family and friends with.

Paper basket

It will not be necessary plain paper, and wrapper. She could stay in the house, but if not, then she is not expensive and can be bought in large quantities. You can find it in hypermarkets, flower shops or shops with similar small items.

Brown paper looks good on curves and has Nice colour. As a last resort, you can use wallpaper instead of paper; they have a similar texture.

To work you will need a machine, paper clips and glue. The paper needs to be cut into even strips and folded several times. The denser our blanks turn out to be, the more reliable our paper basket will be.

To make it more convenient to work and the product to look more aesthetically pleasing, the edges of the tape are stitched with thread. Indentations are made in the region of 5 mm. The color of the thread is chosen to match the overall color of the room. You can take black threads, they will look good with any color scheme.

In order to further secure the product, the strips are coated with glue. Silicone is best; it sets quickly.

Newspaper basket

You can make your own basket from either paper or newspapers. The principle will be approximately the same. Even decorators often use this method of decoration. Black and white stripes look quite original and bright.

Newspapers are still quite relevant today, despite digital technologies. People value them just like books—for the ability to touch and smell the print.

Many people have large stacks of old publications at home that have nowhere to be identified. It is quite possible to make a dense product out of them - it could be a fruit basket or a container for storing small items.

We will need scissors and glue. As with paper, we make a lot of blanks in the form of smooth ribbons and weave them together. To make the basket more reliable, it is lined thick tape any color.

Fabric baskets

From old fabric you can make a good laundry basket. You can also store children's toys, magazines and newspapers in it, and even use it as a cover for flower pots.

Note!

To work you will need a plain and decorative fabric, threads. From decorative and plain material you need to cut out 2 blanks - a circle and a rectangle. They must be the same length.

Then you need to fold 2 circles and 2 rectangles with the wrong side and stitch them. After that, we sew everything together and you're done.

Perhaps the first works will not look like a master class on how to make a basket, but with practice, you can make quite decent products that will not only be free, but also beautiful and functional.

Many housewives will agree that sometimes some things simply have nowhere to go. This is especially true for small things that seem to be very necessary in the household, but get in the way or are not always at hand. At the same time, find suitable option It can be quite difficult in a store.

In the photo of the baskets, you can see options that are easy to make at home, completely free or for little money.

Note!

Greetings, dear needlewomen, I am Natalya Potselova, within the framework of this master class I propose to sew with your own hands round textile basket with the front side decorated using the patchwork technique.

I really love interior accents. This is when the renovations in the apartment are done, the curtains are hung, but something is missing. You can throw a couple of pillows in one on the sofa color scheme with the room, hang a picture or panel, and let it stand on the table basket from fabrics for important little things - telephone, receipts and checks or unfinished knitting. Moreover, there are many things that require storage in the house.

It’s easy to make textile baskets with your own hands, and I’ll prove it to you now. Recently I already wrote about, And today there will be a basket. So, let's begin.

To make fabric baskets we will prepare:

  • Textile. Cotton for patchwork (America, Germany, Korea - my choice). Further details will be given about selecting the color of the material;
  • Dublerin is fabric based on adhesive, but not very dense;
  • Cotton threads;
  • Scissors;
  • Pins;
  • Marker or chalk for cutting out;
  • Iron.

About the color scheme. In this basket the selection was based on fabrics– companions (having a similar color, ornament, good combination shades). If you choose a monochromatic material for crafts, it is better to limit yourself to 3 colors at a time. And if the fabric has a colored pattern, you can play with shades and expand the palette to 6-8.

1. Create textile baskets starting from the front panel. It will be made using patchwork technique. You need to cut 4.5 cm strips of four colors, 5 pieces each. We sew two at a time with an indentation from the edge of 0.7 cm. If you are not sure of the accuracy, draw the lines. It is important to be very careful when doing patchwork.

2. Iron the seams from the front and back sides, but do not press too hard.

3. We connect the blocks into a motif of four colors in one sequence. Then we sew the motifs into the canvas. We iron each seam.

4. Glue it with dublerin into two layers. Then we make parallel lines along our fabric to fasten it to the seal. Iron it again.

5. Sew the strip into a closed circle.

6. Making the bottom. We calculate the diameter using the formula length of the front panel (the one with stripes)/3.14 = diameter + 2 cm (seam allowances). I got a diameter of 16 cm + 2 cm = 18 cm. Then we fold the circle in half and in half again. We unfold it and draw 4 stripes on the resulting creases. We glue the circle with double-layer tape.

7. We also mark 4 stripes on the front panel. We use pins to pin the basket along the lines. Then add more pins until the entire edge is secured. Don't be put off by the fact that the fabric wrinkles a little. Once you make the seam, everything will fall into place.

8. We use the same technology inner part textile basket. The length of the rectangle is equal to the length of the patchwork panel minus 0.5 cm. We do the same with the diameter. Subtract 0.5 cm. Draw a circle and cut it out. We make a basting and pin the parts to each other, stitch them.

9. We make a line along the edge of the textile basket with an indentation of 0.5 cm.

10. Cut out a green cotton trim 45 cm long and 6 cm wide. Fold it in half and iron it.

11. Pin the binding to the front side. We sew with an indentation of 1 cm from the edge. Fold the second edge inward and hidden seam sew to the basket.

Hello everyone! You've probably already noticed that I really love homemade things that help keep the house tidy and organize things. And indeed, why pay a lot of money for organizers and containers if you can make them yourself. Even if yours is not perfect, it will be yours. In addition, there is no limit to perfection, there will be something to work on. Today I want to show you how to make a fabric basket that can hold tons of items.

The first thing that came to my mind was that this basket could be used for storage. underwear, socks, sewing supplies, personal care products, spices and even toys. You can sew it like this: big size, and small, with high edges, and with low ones. In addition, the distinctive advantage of a cloth basket is that you can wash it as much as you like if it gets dirty.

DIY fabric basket

First of all, decide on the size of the product. What will be the height of the walls and the area of the bottom. Based on this, draw a pattern on a piece of paper. Something like this (see below), just draw your own dimensions.

The variable n is your value, as is the length.

Next, prepare three pieces of fabric: outer, inner and lining. Try to choose enough dense material, for example cotton high density or linen. This is necessary for the basket to keep its shape.

Cut out the paper piece and attach it to the fabric so that the fold line matches the fold line on the fabric. That is, all three parts must be double. Look at the picture.

Then cut out the handles, you can take the width and length as desired. They should also consist of three layers.

Now use an iron to glue lining fabric to one of the parts from the wrong side. It will give the product even greater density. Do the same with the handle patterns. There were 6 parts in total: the inner and outer layers of the basket, 4 sides of the holders.

So, let's start sewing.

Fold the inner part in half with the right side inward and sew the edge along the height of the basket on both sides, retreating 1 centimeter from the edge. Do the same with the second part. The seams should be steamed as in the photo. Then sew along the width of the seam, on the pattern it is marked as 2*n. It looked like two unfinished baskets.

Let's do the hands. Right sides fold the fabric and sew around the perimeter, leaving one edge free. Turn them inside out and iron them well.

Let's start assembling. To do this you will need pins or special sewing clothespins. Turn the inside of the basket wrong side out, and use a pin to attach the handles in the places where they should be located. Then put the inside into it, wrong side should be inside.

Straighten the workpiece and secure it with pins. Now sew the edges around the perimeter, leaving 7 centimeters unstitched at the end. Now you can turn the basket inside out. Iron all folds and sew the edge where there is no stitching with a hidden seam. That's all. The basket turned out very neat. If desired, decorate it with ribbons, beads or iron-on stickers.
