Kanzashi craftswomen can make wonderful decorations for any holiday. And the recipients of their creative imagination are not only girls and women, but also men. By February 23 or May 9, it is customary to congratulate men and veterans, and you can give them hand-made brooches of a suitable theme. The master class provides a lesson on how to create such a decoration that can be made for Defender of the Fatherland Day or the great and revered Victory Day by all of us. DIY kanzashi brooch made from St. George's ribbon consists of a simple bouquet of white flowers tied with a red ribbon, and the base is a loop of St. George's ribbon, which is relevant for May Day. To make the same gift or a similar one, for example, with flowers of a different color, study and repeat all the steps.
Materials for making a St. George kanzashi brooch with your own hands:
For the central bouquet we will need:
- 9 pieces of white satin – width 2.5 cm and length 3 cm;
- 5 pieces of green satin - width 2.5 cm and length 10 cm (during the process, these strips, bent in half, are cut diagonally with a soldering iron. To model the sepals, only cups will be needed);
- 3 pieces of gold-colored brocade – width 0.5 cm and length 10 cm;
- 1 piece of green satin – width 0.5 cm and length 5 cm (for a droplet leaf);
- 2 pieces of red satin – width 1 cm and length 6 cm;
- 2 pieces of red satin – width 1 cm and length 5 cm;
- 2 pieces of gold-colored brocade – width 0.5 cm and length 5 cm;
- 9 double-sided yellow stamens;
- golden hugger and red half bead;
- 1 piece of green felt – width 3 cm and length 1.5 cm (for the base for the composition).
DIY kanzashi brooch made from St. George's ribbon step by step:
Green stripes are intended to make the sepals of delicate white flowers. To do this, use a 2.5 cm wide tape. Bend the strips across exactly in the center, perfectly aligning both sides. Next, heat up the soldering iron and move it diagonally across the two-layer rectangle. A hot, sharp knife will also work (just place the blade along the line of interest and press hard). Hot metal is designed to clearly cut two-layer rectangles into two parts and simultaneously solder the tape at the cut site. You won't be able to do this with scissors. A little advice: while working, place an old towel under the pieces of fittings so as not to spoil the surface of the table.
Of the five green strips cut lengthwise, take only the part that is a pointed bag. Prepare 9 white pieces of ribbon (3 pieces for each flower). The strips on one side need to be rounded with scissors and scorched (but use the flame as quickly as possible and once). At the lower smooth edge, the petals are collected and soldered. Stamens with yellow heads will also look beautiful on a white background. Get them ready for work.
Modeling a flower, glue three white petals, open the sepal, gather together three double-sided stamens, bend them and glue them. Glue the center to the white petals, twist the flower, glue it, insert it into a green bag.
Make 3 identical flowers.
Since 5 green sepals were initially prepared, and only 3 were used to model the flowers, there will still be 2 parts left. They will be needed for additional decoration of the bouquet. Make loops from golden brocade 0.5 cm wide and 10 cm long.
Prepare red stripes: 2 pieces 1 cm wide and 6 cm long, 2 pieces 1 cm wide and 5 cm long; brocade ribbon - 2 stripes 0.5 cm wide and 5 cm long, as well as a shiny red half-bead.
Make a bow with double red and gold loops and a shiny center - a half bead inserted into the hug.
You can also make it from ribbons:
Glue the bouquet together. Gather the flowers together, glue the two remaining sepals and three gold loops to the bottom, and glue a bow in the center in front.
Stick the composition on the St. George piece or use any other ribbon, for example, red.
A do-it-yourself kanzashi brooch made from St. George's ribbon for a man is ready. The accessory can be given separately or pinned to a gift box - it will be a great decoration. Using the example of such a wonderful brooch, you can learn how to create delicate bouquets of kanzashi, which will be useful for further creative lessons.
Option 1: Simple round kanzashi petal.
1. Cut squares from orange satin ribbon. From these we will make 7-8 round petals.
2. Fold the square diagonally.
3. Then we bend the corners of the triangle to the top as shown in the photo.
4. It is more convenient (for a beginner) to do this one at a time.
5. First, seal one side over fire.
6. And then the second one in the same way.
7. This is how it should turn out.
8. Fold the resulting part in half, that is, with the corners back.
9. Cut off the corners.
10.Solder the lower sections separately.

Make the required number of petals. For a flower you need 7-8 pieces. You can fold it the way I did it, or you can fold it in any other way. I secure it with a hot glue gun.
We fix it with hot glue on a small circle of thick black felt so that the flower does not bend in the center, and attach any suitable decoration to the center.
We attach it to the St. George ribbon and attach the brooch base using hot glue.
Option 2: double round kanzashi petal.
Additionally you will need: sharp scissors, a candle, a small piece of black felt, a brooch base, a decoration for the center and a St. George's ribbon.
To connect the parts we use hot glue (you can sew or use instant glue).
2. Fold them diagonally and place them on top of each other as shown in the photo. For convenience, you can use a needle.
3. Bend the side corners to the bottom corner (shown by arrows). It's more convenient to take turns.
4. First one.
5. Seal the seam on the candle.
6. Then do the same for the second one.
I seal the seams, it seems more convenient to me. If you are soldering only the corners, then pre-process the edges of the squares on the candle.
7. Fold the resulting part in half, that is, with the corners back. You can solder the base of the petal on the candle a little.
8. Cut off the corners.
9. Solder the lower sections separately.

If you solder the lower sections together, you will get a different version of the petal, but, in my opinion, no less interesting.
We connect 7 petals together on a small circle of felt and decorate the middle.

Option 3: Simple sharp kanzashi petal.
Materials: satin ribbon 4-5 cm wide.
1. Cut squares from satin ribbon. Let's start making sharp petals.
2. Fold the square diagonally.
3. Let's fold it again.
4. Connect the corners again.
5. We seal the base of the petal well.
6. Cut off the corner.
7. We process the cut on fire.

In a similar way, we make the required number of petals of the desired color.
Option 4: Double sharp kanzashi petal.
Materials: satin ribbon 4-5 cm wide in two colors.
Additionally you will need: sharp scissors, a candle, a brooch base, any jewelry and a St. George ribbon.
1. Cut two squares of different colors from a satin ribbon.
2. Fold them diagonally and place them on top of each other as shown in the photo.
3. Attract each corner in turn to the opposite corner of the resulting figure.
4. This is what should happen.
5. Fold it towards the middle and seal the base of the petal well so that it does not fall apart.
6.Cut off the corner.
7. We process the cut on fire.
This is what the finished double petal looks like.

Option 5: Triple spicy kanzashi petal.
A triple kanzashi petal can be made in two ways: combining single and double petals or soldering each petal to the previous one in turn. In the second case, the petal will be smoother.

Before starting work you need to prepare:
- - satin ribbon in blue, red and white shades, each at least 25 mm wide.
- - scissors.
- - thermal gun.
- - the basis for the brooch.
- - tweezers.
- - St. George ribbon 2.5 cm wide.
- - ruler.
- - white half beads, 5 mm in diameter.
- - lighter.
The decoration consists of two separate pieces, a spikelet and a loop. First you need to make a three-color spikelet. To do this, you will need satin ribbons in three shades: blue, white and red.
From these ribbons you should prepare segments, each 5.5 cm long. As a result, you will get 7 parts: 2 blue, 2 red and 3 white.
Now you need to make blanks from each segment. To do this, the rectangular part should be placed with the wrong side up and bent exactly in the center at an angle of 45 degrees.
You will get a small fold line, which also needs to be folded in half. As a result, the cut lines of this segment will connect at one point, and the part will turn out to be double with a pointed corner at the top.
Holding the combined sections with your fingers, they need to be folded into several small folds and held in this position with tweezers.
The edge of the tape needs to be cut a little with scissors for alignment. Then the cut needs to be strongly scorched with fire in order to solder the layers of tape and secure the edge of the part in the desired position.
This turns out to be a petal for the future spikelet.
The same blanks should be created from each prepared segment.
Now the petals need to be connected in pairs with glue, in accordance with the color.
The remaining free one white petal needs to be attached between the parts of the same color glued together, but also on the wrong side.
All the parts are ready, you can connect the spikelet together. The red pair of parts needs to be combined with the blue pair, slightly overlapping the edges.
Then the blue petals need to be glued on top of the white parts.
The result is a spikelet of ribbons in three shades, corresponding to the colors of the Russian flag. The spikelet is ready, you need to put it aside. Now you will need a St. George ribbon 18.5 cm long.
The sections of this tape must be cut with a zigzag.
Then, both edges should be carefully singed, being careful not to deform the tape.
After this, stepping back 4 cm from the edge of the tape, you need to make a mark for further orientation.
Then the second edge of the St. George ribbon should be placed over this mark, crossing them.
At the intersection of the two edges of the tape, you need to place a little glue to secure their location. The result is a neat loop.

How to make an original St. George ribbon with flowers:
Materials that we will need to make the St. George ribbon - brooches with a bouquet of tulips 
During the work process, you may need additional accessories, ribbons or beads. It depends on your imagination, since each handmade brooch is unique, and each author will add something of his own to it. Be very careful when working with fire!
Let's start by making buds for the bouquet. The May holiday Victory Day is associated with carnations or tulips. I prefer tulips, so I will make them from satin ribbons. I have two colors of tulips – red-pink. You can also make single-color buds.
For the buds you will need pieces of tape 2.5 * 4 cm. If you use 5 cm wide tape, then cut them in half. Then round off each piece of tape along the top edge. Burn all the cuts with a lighter, and the top edge should become slightly convex from the fire. Each bud will require 6 petals. 
At the next stage, place two folds along the bottom edge of each petal, pinch the petal with tweezers and scorch it with a lighter. 
Prepare all the petals in a similar manner. 
We will make three sepals from green ribbon. Cut a 5*5 cm square from the green ribbon and fold it three times diagonally. Trim one edge as shown in the photo. 
You will get this detail. Burn all cuts with a lighter. 
For the bud, glue the first row of three petals together with a glue gun, pressing the petals close to each other. 
Glue the second row of petals between the petals of the first row. 
Make a loop at the end of the wire (with round nose pliers or small scissors), thread 3 pieces through it. stamens Squeeze the loop tightly. Thread the wire through the bud. With the last tier, thread the sepal onto the wire and secure it along the lower circumference of the bud with glue. Make the rest of the buds in the same way. 
Place three flowers together, braid the wires with tape (or corrugated paper), and tie a narrow ribbon on the bouquet with a bow. The St. George ribbon will need 30 cm, cut off the sections with a tick. Fold the tape like a figure eight and glue it in the middle with glue. Glue the bouquet to the ribbon and decorate the brooch with a “dove”. Glue the clasp to the back of the brooch.
