How to make a pen out of paper: methods, material. How to make a paper feather Colored paper feathers

A delicate and weightless feather, made by hand from paper, looks just as good as a real feather. Paper feathers are widely used in the design of postcards, gift wrapping, large feathers are collected in original bouquets and placed in vases, feather garlands are made ... I think every craftswoman will find a worthy use for this original decor.

To make feathers you will need:

Thin but thick enough cardboard, printed designer paper or even the thinnest rice paper - the choice of paper directly depends on the further use of the pen;
- Scissors with thin and sharp blades or a clerical knife and a ruler;
- Wooden skewer or metal needle;
- Template for pen;
- Paints, glue, glitter and other decor for decoration (optional).

First, prepare a template for the future pen - use the ready-made templates below, or draw your own, then carefully cut it out. Lay out the pen template on the selected paper and, using a wooden skewer or knitting needle, transfer the outlines of the pen, pushing through the outlines (the outlines of the template can also be transferred to paper with a simple pencil, but in this case, the finished pen will not have a very beautiful outline).

Carefully cut out the feather along the sagging outline. If your pen has a more or less even shape, bend the workpiece in half lengthwise, push the fold with pressure with a skewer or knitting needle and, without unbending the workpiece, make very frequent cuts along the edge, not reaching a fold of about 1-2 mm depending on the size of the pen. If your pen is curved, press the central core of the pen with a skewer or knitting needle and then make frequent symmetrical cuts along both edges.
To get very thin, as realistic cuts as possible, it is recommended to make them under the ruler with a blade.

Optionally, after the completion of the incisions, the feathers are decorated with sparkles, small beads or tinted with paint.

Did you pick up all sorts of feathers as a child? Yes? After all, they are so diverse, attractive, of different colors, lengths and shapes, fluffy or thin, neat. Feathers are an incredible work of nature, a symbol of lightness, which will always come in handy if you are a needlework lover, if you like to decorate and decorate. But in order not to injure the birds by pulling out the most beautiful feathers from their tails, let's try to make them ourselves.

How to make a pen out of paper?

Very simple, for this we need:

  • a sheet of white or colored paper;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • toothpick;
  • pencil.

How to make feathers with your own hands? Take a piece of paper, cut a piece of about 15 by 10 cm for a medium-sized feather. Fold it along and draw an arc with a sharp end near the fold. Feathers come in different sizes, some expand towards the end, and some remain even in shape. Draw the shape of the future pen that you like. Cut along the outline.

It remains only to give the workpiece a finished look. Cut into thin strips of the edges, moving from the sharp end at an angle downwards. Do not make too deep cuts, 2/3 halves.

Feathers are fluffy and even. If desired, give your feather fluffiness, for this, twist several ribbons of paper fringe in different directions.

You will need a toothpick for the pen shaft. From the rest of the paper, cut a ribbon a centimeter wide. Lubricate one side of the ribbon with glue and wrap it around a toothpick. You can also use a match. Glue the finished rod to the product on the fold inside. So you get a medium feather, which you can easily find a use for.

Another way

How to make a feather with an unusual shape? For example, curved or simple. You have several options. Draw the pen by hand, marking the cut points with thin strokes, or use ready-made printed stencils. Cut the feather carefully with small nail scissors, a razor blade or utility knife.

Decor

You can of course leave the feathers white or cut them out of colored paper. But what if you want something bright, colorful, with tints?

The pen needs to be dyed. Be careful, we are not in vain paying attention to this topic. To get a bright feather, first color the sheet from which it will be cut. The fact is that if you use markers or watercolor, your feathers will curl or soften from the liquid and tear when awkwardly moving. Watercolor is a good way to create an iridescent leaf. You can also use a sponge or sponge to blur between colors.

Add glitter, stars, and lettering as soon as you cut out the pen, but it's best to decide on the color before you grab the scissors.

Material Variations

Such feathers will definitely come in handy in decorations, in various crafts, for decorating gifts. How to make a pen attractive, presentable, unusual? What other material can be used to get something interesting? Use foil. It produces iridescent bright products.

Newspapers, pages of magazines and books will come in handy. Try decorating your gift with feathers cut from old American newspapers or music books.

Combine colors and material, and then you will get an interesting decoration. Good luck!

Feathers are one of the beautiful works of nature. In order not to injure the birds by plucking their tails, you can simply take a sheet of colored paper and make as many feathers as you need - of any size and color.

Now I will show you how to make a pen out of paper. All you need is paper - colored or white, scissors and glue. Well, inspiration.

If you decide to make not simple feathers, like mine, but Firebird feathers, as in the picture, you will certainly succeed too.

So, first we reshoot the pen template from the monitor or print it out. To see the template in full size, click on it.

We take paper, fold it in half along the width of the template, cut off the unnecessary part (Fig. 1, 2).

We circle the template with a pencil and cut out a blank for the pen (Fig. 3).

Then we make the feather itself out of it (zoologists call this part of the feather “fan”) - we cut the blank folded in half with scissors into narrow strips diagonally, about 2/3, not reaching 1/3 to the fold (Fig. 4, 5, 6)

To give fluffiness to the future feather, we slightly twist the resulting fringe in different directions (Fig. 7).

But you can do without it, then you get the usual neat feather, like this (Fig. 8).

Now we need to make a pen core: we take a strip of paper about 15-20 cm long and 2 cm wide and twist a tube out of it, winding it around a match or a toothpick (Fig. 9).

When twisting, apply glue to a strip of paper in several places. Be sure to coat the end of the strip with glue (Fig. 10).

We smear the feather blank along the inner fold with glue (Fig. 11)

We glue the pen core to the feather itself (Fig. 12).

This is what happened in the end (Fig. 13).

The green feather is made in the same way as the pink one. It only differs in shape and size (Fig. 14).

Please note that no animal (bird) was harmed in the manufacture of these feathers!

I showed you how to make the simplest paper pen. There are other options: for example, you can make feathers from foil, corrugated paper, thick paper; paper folded in several layers; starched fabric; from threads; glue or sew a wire along the fold of the pen, which will allow it to be bent in the right direction.

So, at no extra cost, you can make a great decoration for the interior, a toy for a child, a souvenir or something else!

Seductive idea from Lia Griffith. For some reason, I immediately wanted to make a Christmas garland and decorate the Christmas tree with such paper feathers ... Did you know that feathers are a symbol of wealth and prosperity? True, this is about peacock feathers) As for all the other feathers of other birds, this is luck, light and, of course, beauty. Previously, all fashionable ladies decorated their hats with feathers, but it turns out that only married women did this. Hats with feathers in ancient times spoke of the status of a lady in society.

Feathers are actively used to create accessories that fit absolutely any style of clothing. But this is all about real feathers... and what should we make them out of paper, cover with silver or gold and use in New Year and Christmas decor? I'm for it, and you?

At the very bottom of the publication, I add a very positive video, a video in which you will see the preparation of the author Lia Griffith with his family for the New Year. Look) The mood immediately - some kind of festive)

Feathers can also be used to decorate holiday gift wrapping.

For work, we need a printer to print pens, but although they can be taken directly from the monitor screen. Just don't press hard on the screen with your pencil)

Feathers are cut out of paper, bent in the middle, cut on the sides, painted and covered with gold, silver, sparkles or glitter

That's all, the feather garland looks cool)

They will help to put interesting multi-colored paper feathers. They are not only relatively easy to create, but also relatively cheap.

To make feathers, you will need the following materials and tools: durable craft wrapping paper, scissors, glue, wire, adhesive tape or duct tape, paints.

Step 1. Cut out a blank from kraft paper in the form of a paper oval folded in half. Round the oval from below and slightly narrow its top, repeating and imitating the shape of natural bird feathers.

Step 2. Without unfolding the resulting pen blank, make small oblique cuts on it, close to each other, without cutting some distance to the middle of the oval.

Step 3 Roll a thin tube from a thin narrow strip of kraft paper.

Step 4. Wrap the cut wire (the length of the wire is calculated as follows: ½ part of it is added to the length of the workpiece) about 1/3 with a tube of wrapping paper, securely fasten with glue.

Step 5. Glue the wire prepared in the previous step to the pen blank, as shown in the photo.

If the selected wire is fixed with great effort or difficulty, does not stick, then use small strips of adhesive tape to stretch and fix it. Wait until the glue is completely dry, remove the "auxiliary" strips of adhesive tape.

After the pen has dried, curve it and paint it in any color you choose, if desired.

Dyeing tip: It is better if you color not ready-made paper feathers, but kraft paper at the initial, preparatory stage.

Arrange the finished whimsical light feathers in the chosen dish (for example, in a vase or put on a plate), add as an additional impressive element to the composition, decorate your Easter holiday table with them.
