Children's things should always remain clean. How to wash soft toys in a washing machine at home? You need to know some rules and nuances so as not to spoil the products.

Is it possible to wash children's toys?

Almost all children play with toys, and some become favorites and are practically never let go. The baby can take his soft friend outside or to kindergarten, and then put him in bed and kiss him. To avoid the spread of pathogenic microorganisms and their entry into the child’s body, toys should be washed. Also, washing is mandatory during quarantine, when a child is sick and becomes a source of viruses or bacteria.

But not all products can be washed. To find out whether such cleaning is acceptable, you should carefully study the information on the label. There may be recommendations regarding washing, for example, mode, permissible temperature, drying features.

  1. Singing, talking and moving. These toys include “Chi Chi Love”.
  2. Huge toys that simply won’t fit in the washing machine drum.
  3. Toys with glued parts. Eyes, noses, bows and other elements can be attached to glue.
  4. Plush toys with long pile are not machine washable, as it may lose its original quality and deteriorate.
  5. Products made from natural materials such as fur, linen, wool, leather. After washing, they can be greatly deformed and lose their original shape.
  6. Toys for the manufacture of which sawdust, feathers, cotton wool or buckwheat husks were used as fillers.
  7. Products with small fittings, for example, sewn beads, rhinestones. But in this case, washing is allowed if you use a special one, which can be purchased at Ikea or other stores.

What can I wash with? Materials and tools

It is best to wash toys using effective, but gentle and non-aggressive means. You can use powder intended for washing children's clothes: it will cope with dirt and will not cause allergic reactions. And for hand washing, baby soap or shampoo is suitable. Fabric softener will help keep the material soft. If the product is fragile or has fittings, then prepare a laundry bag.

Now the tools. For machine washing you only need the device itself. If you plan to carry out the procedure manually, then prepare a basin or other container of appropriate size and shape. So, if a bear is washed, it will fit in a large bucket. You may also need a sponge or soft brush to remove heavy dirt.

Preparation

In order for the washing to be successful and not to damage the products and the washing machine, all toys must be prepared for the procedure. Preparation involves following simple recommendations:

  • Carefully inspect the product to notice even small holes and sew them up. If this is not done, then during the rotation of the drum the filler may come out and clog the drain of the device. It is especially important to carry out an inspection if you plan to wash anti-stress toys with balls inside.
  • If the toys are soft and fragile, then it is better to wash them in special bags that will protect the material and accessories. If you don’t have such an accessory, replace it with a regular pillowcase or sew it yourself.
  • If there are a lot of toys, you should sort them first. Choose brightly colored items that may fade; they are best washed separately, as are very large items. Also, when sorting, you can use criteria such as sizes, fillers, materials.
  • If there are strong stains, you should try to remove them before washing. To do this, treat the area with foamed powder, liquid soap or shampoo dissolved in water, rub it with a sponge or brush, and then remove the product with a clean, damp cloth.

How to properly wash soft toys in the washing machine?

To wash soft toys in an automatic washing machine, first of all, you need to correctly load the products into the drum. Don't overfill it or put too many things inside, otherwise they won't clean well enough. Very soft and fragile toys with a lot of accessories are placed in bags.

Next, select the appropriate mode. Only delicate programs are suitable, such as hand washing or washing natural fabrics. You should not choose the maximum number of revolutions in order to maintain the integrity of the products and not deform them.

Another question that worries many is at what temperature to wash soft toys. Optimal values are 30-40 degrees. To completely remove any remaining detergent from your items, turn on the extra rinse function. But you shouldn’t start the spin cycle.

At low temperatures, pathogenic microorganisms do not die, so machine washing will not provide disinfection. To clean the product from bacteria, you can treat it with hot steam or leave it in the cold for a while (at least two to three days). Specialized antiseptic sprays or an ultraviolet lamp will also come to the rescue.

Handwash

If machine washing is prohibited, you will have to wash the toys by hand. To do this, prepare a container of appropriate size, fill it with warm water and completely dissolve the detergent. Immerse the toy in the solution and scrub it with a soft brush or sponge.

Drying products

Washing toys at home is not enough; after this procedure, you need to dry them properly. And mistakes made at this stage can also lead to damage. Machine drying is strictly prohibited: it will lead to deformation of the materials.

It is best to dry toys outdoors or at least in a well-ventilated area. If the products are strong enough and not prone to stretching and deformation, then you can hang them on ropes using clothespins. It is better to dry fragile and deformable items on a horizontal surface.

You can also lay them out on the dryer, not forgetting to spread a rag under it, onto which the flowing moisture will drip. And to remove excess water, you can wrap the toys in terry towels for a while.

Washing musical toys

Washing toys with a musical mechanism inside is possible in some cases, but all parts should be removed before the procedure. Proceed as follows:

  • Use your fingers to feel the area where the device is located.
  • Carefully open the nearest seam and remove the mechanism.
  • Sew up the hole with your hands and start washing.
  • Dry the toy completely, open the seam again and return the mechanism to its place. At this point, you can replace the power supply if required.

How to clean a soft toy that cannot be washed?

You can do without washing, in which case cleaning can be done in different ways:

  1. Treat the product with steam using a steam generator, steamer or iron with the appropriate function.
  2. Wet cleaning with foam is allowed. Dissolve powder, soap or shampoo in warm water and lather it well. Apply foam using a sponge to the entire surface of the product, paying special attention to heavily soiled areas. Then wipe the toy with an absorbent cloth such as microfiber. Then dry the item in the fresh air.
  3. To remove dust and other small particles from the pile, use a vacuum cleaner. It is not necessary to put on a nozzle, but you can use a narrow one, which will allow you to fully process the entire surface. Also knock out the product several times.
  4. Dry cleaning allowed. To do it, place the toy in a bag and add half a glass or a glass (depending on the size of the thing) of soda or starch. Next, tie the bag and vigorously shake the product. Starch and soda have absorbent properties, absorb dirt and clean materials from dust and crumbs. After cleaning, remove and shake the toy well. Additionally, you can vacuum it.

Regular cleaning of children's toys is mandatory, because it helps protect the child from dust and pathogenic microorganisms. And now you can carry out the procedure yourself without harm to the products.

Ways to wash soft toys. Such a thing is a daily companion for small children in any environment. He takes his favorite bear or hare for a walk, carries it to kindergarten, plays at a party, feeds him porridge and gives him tea, after which, hugging him tightly, he falls asleep in bed. But, no matter how much a child loves his thing, the soft Cat Leopold can become a source of infection, mites, dirt and other troubles for him. The fabric surface of any toy is an excellent “magnet” for dust, which leads to the development of allergic reactions and respiratory tract diseases in the baby, so it requires careful periodic cleaning. When buying your child another plush animal, you should know in advance how to wash the soft toy in the future - in a washing machine or manually.

Preparation

In order to prevent the product from deteriorating during washing, it must be prepared. The process includes several simple rules:

  1. Before loading toys into the drum of the washing machine, they must be carefully inspected for holes, even the smallest ones. If there are any, then they should be sewn up so that during the washing process the filler does not come out through them and clog the appliance drain. Toys containing small balls especially need inspection.
  2. To protect delicate fabrics from which soft products are made, as well as to protect accessories, it is better to wash in special bags. If it is not available, you can use an ordinary pillowcase made of cotton fabric.
  3. If you plan to wash a large number of items, they must be pre-sorted. Products made from brightly colored materials must be washed separately. This rule also applies to plush pets of large sizes. Toys should also be sorted by filler.
  4. If there is heavy soiling on the fabric, it must be removed before washing. To do this, you can treat the stained area with powder foam, shampoo or liquid soap, wipe the area with a brush, and then remove excess detergent with a damp soft cloth. If there are traces of grease on the surface, they can be removed first using liquid dishwashing detergent.
  5. If you plan to wash toys that have any mechanism sewn into them (interactive, musical), then before starting, it should be removed. To do this, the toy is ripped open at the seam, the mechanism and plastic parts are pulled out and sewn together.

Important: a product with any organic filler cannot be washed!

Machine washable

The most suitable SMA mode for soft toys is considered to be “Delicate Wash” and “Wash of Woolen Products”, in which deformation is minimized.

If for some reason these programs are not available, then low speeds are selected at a temperature range of 30-40 0 C.

If the products are equipped with small parts, it is best to use a special bag that will help not to lose them during the washing process. If you don’t have one like this in your home, you can sew it yourself or use a cotton pillowcase.

Old, heavily soiled toys can harbor a particular danger in the form of dust mites, which die only at temperatures above 60°C. If the label does not indicate the possibility of washing at high degrees, then the ticks are destroyed by freezing. To do this, the toy is placed in the freezer for 24-36 hours or irradiated with a UV lamp. Sometimes exposure to steam from a steam cleaner is acceptable.

The main thing you should know about machine washing such things is that spinning and drying in automatic machines is strictly prohibited.

Manually

The label usually indicates whether the kitten or bunny can be washed in an automatic washing machine. If this cannot be done, then it should be washed by hand.

If there is no label on the teddy bear, you should hand wash those products that have glued eyes, nose, mouth or other parts. Also, toys with non-uniform filling, sawdust filling, buckwheat husk, etc., cannot be machine washed.

For this you will need:

  • sponge (brush);
  • detergent for washing children's products (shampoo, liquid soap);
  • a bowl of water whose temperature does not exceed 40 0 C.

In order to wash your child’s favorite hare or bear without spoiling it, you need to dissolve 50 ml of baby laundry detergent or shampoo in warm water and lather well. Next, the toy is placed in the resulting soap solution and left for at least 30 minutes. It should be borne in mind that upon contact with water, the parts with which the parts are glued may dissolve, so it is better if the glued parts of the toy remain above the surface of the water. After soaking, the product must be cleaned with a sponge or brush and rinsed thoroughly.

Important: it is necessary to rinse toys, especially those played by a child under 3 years old, several times in order to eliminate as much excess detergent from its fibers as possible.

Drying

In order for your pet toy to retain its quality and appearance, it is not enough to choose the appropriate washing method; you also need to dry it properly. As mentioned earlier, automatic spinning should be avoided.

After removing the toy from the drum, it should be wrapped in a terry towel, which will absorb most of the moisture.

It is recommended to dry synthetic products on clotheslines, to which the toy is attached with clothespins by the ears, tail or paws. It is important that drying is done outside - this will help avoid the formation of mold, “souring” of the filler and, as a result, the development of pathogenic microorganisms in it.

However, this drying method is completely unsuitable for toys made from natural materials (wool, linen, etc.). When hanging on ropes, the product may become deformed, the filling may become crumpled and give the animal the appearance of a bag. In this case, the toy is dried on a horizontal surface in sunlight and good ventilation.

Content

Children love their toys. They do not part with them: they sleep, walk and just play. Therefore, these soft items should be washed with the utmost care. The child not only plays, he also tastes them. As children grow, they learn about the world in this way.

Methods for cleaning toys

In order not to harm your baby’s health, you should pay attention to useful tips and recommendations on how to properly wash soft toys.

Handwash

Especially if such soft things are small in size and do not have small parts. They wash easily.

  1. Pour warm water into the container so that the liquid completely covers the toy.
  2. After you have wet it, you can soap it with baby soap or powder. Then, leave for 20 minutes.
  3. If the dirt is significant, you can rub it lightly with a brush. But only when the material allows. Otherwise it may be damaged.
  4. After washing, you need to rinse the soft toy well to remove any remaining soap or powder.
  5. All that remains is to dry it in the sun, radiator or towel.

Machine washable

There is nothing unusual in this, because every modern person already knows how to wash clothes in a machine correctly.

  • You need to make sure that it can be machine washed. As a rule, the manufacturer indicates all the necessary requirements and conditions on the label.
  • Before you start washing, you should check that there are no electronic components or batteries left inside. They need to be removed. If this cannot be done, then you need to abandon machine washing. Otherwise, the toy may be damaged. For such soft items, it is recommended to use soap suds or dry cleaning.
  • It is necessary to inspect the toy to ensure that there are no additional fittings or plastic elements on it before washing. The same goes for balls or other parts.

To wash a soft toy, use a special mesh.

  • If there are stains, they should be treated before the procedure with a sponge, first moistening it with medical alcohol. You can also use organic dishwashing detergent for this.
  • Toys that cannot be machine washed due to their size can be cleaned using soap suds.

Machine wash rules

  1. Place it in a special washing net.
  2. Load into the washing machine drum.
  3. Add powder. In this case, it is recommended to wash soft fabrics with baby detergents. And it’s even better if it’s hypoallergenic soap or powder.
  4. The toy is washable on a delicate cycle. As a rule, the water temperature does not exceed 30 degrees.
  5. Increase rinse mode. If there is no such option, then run this procedure additionally. This will remove all the detergent from the soft fabric.

  1. The spin should not be used; draining the water will suffice.
  2. To wring out the product, you should wrap it in a terry towel and squeeze it well with your hands.
  3. Most children's toys are hung to dry after washing. If these are knitted items, then you can simply lay them out on the radiator.

Dry cleaning method

There are some toys that it is not advisable to wet with water. In this case, dry washing to remove dirt and dust is suitable. This procedure is performed using regular baking soda or a vacuum cleaner.

If there are temporary yellow spots on the toy, then before washing, you should apply a small amount of lemon juice to them and leave them to dry in the sun.

  1. To clean with soda, prepare a large bag and place a soft toy in it. If it is medium in size, then 0.5 cups of the mixture will be enough. Close the bag well and tightly. After this, shake it vigorously for 2 minutes. When the time is up, you can take out the toy. All that remains is to remove the remaining soda and starch from it. This way you can clean various small soft baby products, as well as small items.

  1. In the case of a vacuum cleaner, you will need a special attachment for cleaning, which is used to process upholstered furniture. Set the suction level to low on the equipment and carefully clean the children's toy. This dry cleaning option is suitable for cleaning large items that cannot be machine washed. At the same time, you should do this carefully so as not to tear off small parts.

Wet cleaning method

In this way, you can wash felt toys that are additionally decorated with plastic parts or with balls inside.

  • You will need a rag and baby soap.
  • Lather the cloth well, wring it out thoroughly, and you can wipe the contaminated areas.
  • In the same way, you need to clean the toy, only with a clean cloth moistened with water.
  • All that remains is to dry it.

Bunnies and bears made of plush and faux fur can be found in every home where there is a child or a young girl.

These cute little things accumulate dust very quickly, so they need constant cleaning: not only to keep the room clean, but also to prevent many diseases.

The easiest way is to wash a soiled soft toy in the washing machine, but this is not always possible.

Tidying up soft toys is not just a tribute to cleanliness, but a necessary procedure. If you do not wash them regularly, the risk of occurrence and exacerbation of many diseases increases, especially if there are small children and allergy sufferers in the house.

Soft toys are made from fabrics with pile and filled with synthetic or natural materials to give them a voluminous shape.

This composition makes the product an ideal environment for the accumulation and habitat of various pathogenic microorganisms:

  1. Dust mites.

These arthropods, invisible to the eye, are present in any room and are dangerous because they transmit diseases to the inhabitants of the apartment, since they feed on dead epithelial cells.

If you shake or throw a toy a little, millions of tiny animals, as well as their waste products, will rise into the air and remain there for several hours. Inhaling them worsens allergic reactions and reduces immunity.

  1. Viruses.

They can live freely on the surface of a toy from 2 days to several weeks, infecting others.

  1. Bacteria (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, staphylococci and others).

These microorganisms can remain on the product for more than a month, causing conjunctivitis, bronchitis and other infectious diseases.

  1. Fungi.

They often penetrate and live in high-quality toys made from natural materials, causing respiratory diseases.

In homes where there are small children, in addition to household dust, food and organic residues accumulate in soft toys, which causes increased proliferation of pathogenic microorganisms.

Experienced housewives and cleaning specialists recommend washing toys at least once every 5-6 months. In families with children, it is better to do this once a quarter, and if the product gets dirty, clean it up immediately.

How to wash soft toys

There are several ways to get rid of dirt on soft toys. Which one to choose depends primarily on the size and materials from which they are made.

Washing in a washing machine

The easiest way today to remove all dirt from soft toys is washing in an automatic machine. Before loading your plush friends into the drum, you need to make sure that they can withstand such cleaning.

Dry washing methods

Plush pets made from natural, delicate fabrics that do not tolerate moisture can be tidied up in the following ways:

  1. Vacuum cleaner.

Remove the nozzles from the household electrical appliance, turn it on to minimum mode and run the hose over the surface several times, pressing it tightly. If your vacuum cleaner has a suction function, it should be turned off. Please note that the attachment points of small parts must be handled with care.

  1. Soda.

This substance is known for its antibacterial properties. To clean the toy from dust and minor dirt, you need to place it in a thick polyethylene bag, pour a few tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate into it (the amount depends on the size of the plush animal), tie it and shake thoroughly for 15 minutes. The soda will absorb dust particles, small debris and destroy some pathogenic microorganisms.

Superficial wet cleaning

If dry cleaning is ineffective or there are stains on the toy, but it cannot be completely wet, you can remove the stains with a soap solution:

  • add liquid or laundry soap or a little hypoallergenic powder to a liter of warm water;
  • beat thick foam with your hand;
  • apply to the stain with the palm of your hand or a sponge and rub (if necessary, you can gradually treat the entire toy);
  • blot the plush pet with a clean cloth and dry it in the open air.

Handwash

Some products can be washed by hand (information is indicated on the product label). This is very easy to do:

  • pour warm water (not higher than 40 °C) into a large basin or bathtub;
  • add detergent (baby or liquid powder, shavings of any soap);
  • immerse toys in water and rub heavily soiled areas with a brush or sponge;
  • rinse 2-4 times until the water runs clear;
  • squeeze lightly and place on a wire rack over the bathtub.

During the washing process, do not wet the parts glued to the surface.

Features of washing in an automatic machine

Plush animals may lose shape and become damaged during intensive washing. Modern automatic machines have delicate modes that allow you to remove dirt even from very thin and capricious fabrics without deforming them.

However, not all toys are machine washable. Before putting your plush product into the drum, you need to pay attention to the following details:

  1. Filler. Synthetic materials (foam rubber, padding polyester) will easily return to shape after drying, but natural materials (sawdust) will most likely become deformed.
  2. Material of manufacture. Only toys made of thick fabrics with strong seams can be machine washed.
  3. Availability of musical and other mechanisms, batteries. After contact with water, such products will definitely become unusable.
  4. Size. Large toys, even if they fit into the machine drum, cannot be thoroughly washed and rinsed; to clean them, it is better to choose dry or hand washing.

So, you should avoid machine washing if the toy:

  • made from natural fur, thin fabrics that can fade or shrink;
  • contains built-in electronic mechanisms;
  • has a large size;
  • decorated with small details.

Machine washing rules

For cleaning in an automatic machine, gentle, low-foaming products are used: soap or baby powder. Before washing, toys should be placed in separate bags (pillowcases) to reduce friction during operation.

In addition, you may need scissors, a blade and thread.

Washing algorithm:

  • study the manufacturer's recommendations on the labels;
  • Carefully peel off small plastic parts (eyes, jewelry) so that they do not get lost during washing;
  • If there are stains on the fabric, wash them by hand;
  • put toys in separate bags;
  • turn on the machine.

After washing, the items should be placed on a drying rack or rack over the bathtub to allow water to drain. After this, the plush pets should be placed on a thick cloth and wait until dry. It is not recommended to hang soft toys on clothespins; this can lead to loss of shape.

It is necessary to dry it in a well-ventilated area to avoid the appearance of an unpleasant odor. During the drying process, they need to be shaken several times to maintain their shape.

After the toys have dried, they need to be combed with a soft brush and small parts sewn on.

You can also wash musical soft toys in the machine, after removing the electronic mechanism. To do this, you need to carefully rip open the nearest seam and then sew it up so as not to lose the filling. After the product is completely dry, the musical mechanism can easily be returned to its place.

From the video you can learn how to wash a large soft toy that will not fit into the drum of a washing machine.

How to control pests

Dust mites, bacteria and fungi accumulate on soft toys and are resistant to regular washing. To destroy these dangerous microorganisms, you can use several methods:

  1. Place the toys in a bag and place them in the freezer overnight at the lowest possible temperature. In winter, you can simply take the toys out onto the balcony for a few days.
  2. Treat with steam. Pour water into a large saucepan and place a colander or mesh on top. After the liquid boils, place the toys on top and cover with a lid. Steaming should not last more than 5 minutes. Large specimens can be treated with a steamer.
  3. Treat with an ultraviolet or quartz lamp. Please note that there should be no children in the room while the devices are operating.
  4. Sprinkle the toys with kieselguhr and algae powder for 12-18 hours. The substance absorbs fatty secretions and moisture from the body of dust mites, and the pests die within a few hours. The remaining powder is removed with a vacuum cleaner.

Timely washing of soft toys will protect children from developing diseases of the respiratory system and fill the room with freshness. It should be carried out as it gets dirty, but at least once every six months. The washing method depends on the material of the toy; to clean large and expensive items, you can use dry cleaning services.

If you have children in your home, the number of soft toys will increase every day. Small and huge, loved and not so loved, “bald” and furry - sooner or later they will all need cleaning. When participating in children's games or just sitting in a corner, toys will certainly collect dust and small debris. It’s even worse if dust mites start to appear in such “domestic inhabitants”. What to do? How to remove all this dirt? How to wash soft toys: in the washing machine or by hand? How to dry them and properly disinfect them? We will try to find answers to all these questions and give practical advice.

A vacuum cleaner or improvised means are most often used as auxiliary equipment for dry cleaning. These methods are relevant when the question arises of how to clean a soft toy at home if it cannot be washed.

Soda

Take a large, clean plastic bag. Place one large or several small toys in it. Pour about half or a whole glass of soda on top. Tie the neck of the bag tightly, and then shake it vigorously along with the contents. The soda should “envelop” the surface of the toys completely, so if necessary, its amount can be increased. After the procedure, untie the bag, take out the toys and, using a dry, soft brush, sweep away the soda and dust from them. By how dark the soda particles are, we can assess the degree of contamination of animals and dolls.

Starch

Many housewives prefer to use starch instead of soda to clean soft toys. It has the same effect. In addition, starch perfectly removes greasy stains.

Vacuum cleaner

Use a regular household vacuum cleaner. To do this, install a small brush and switch the unit to low power mode so that it does not inadvertently tear off and draw in small parts. Treat each surface area thoroughly. By the way, this method is perfect for those who don’t know how to wash large soft toys.

Wet cleaning

The wet method most often involves foam treatment. It is better if it is made from baby soap, as there is less risk of dermatological reactions in children.

Cleaning felt souvenir toys

Lather a cloth or sponge and squeeze thoroughly. Then vigorously wipe the surface of the toy with it. When wiping, pay special attention to stains and the most contaminated areas. After treating with soap foam, wipe the toy with a cloth soaked in clean water and leave it to dry in a sitting or standing position on a windowsill or balcony.

Toys with glued parts

Dilute any foaming baby product in a container with warm water. Beat the foam. Then put it on a sponge and wipe the soft toy. Remaining foam can be wiped off with a dry cloth or towel. After the procedure, dry the product thoroughly. If yellow stains appear on it, they can be treated with lemon juice.

Washing soft toys

Many mothers very much doubt whether they can wash soft toys in a washing machine or by hand. I can say unequivocally - it is possible, but not everything. In addition, you need to know the list of nuances during such cleaning:

  • Soft toy products filled with special balls should only be cleaned dry or by wiping with a damp cloth. If you try to place them in a washing machine, the fabric may tear during washing, and small balls will probably clog into all the holes of the machine and ruin it. It is also contraindicated to wash toys filled with sawdust, straw, buckwheat husks and other organic materials.
  • Before washing soft toys in a washing machine, you need to remove musical and other mechanisms from them. If the manufacturer has not provided for the possibility of removing such a device from a special pocket with Velcro, then you will have to slightly rip the seam that runs as close to the device as possible, remove the mechanism, secure the seam with large stitches (so that the padding polyester does not fall out during washing), wash the toy, and then return it “insides” back and carefully sew up the seam.

Important: There are animal toys in which body parts are connected to the central mechanism by wires. It is not possible to remove such a device, so the toy can only be subjected to dry surface cleaning.

  • If you find grease stains on the toy, you need to pre-treat them with dishwashing detergent or alcohol before washing. Both are applied using a damp sponge.
  • Toys that do not have loosely glued or quickly unraveling parts and internal mechanisms can be stored at home for a long time, as such soft toys can be washed in a washing machine It’s very easy, and you can do it an unlimited number of times. If the product still has small parts, then for safety, place it in a special washing bag. So, at least, loose eyes or buttons will not harm the machine.
  • Wash toys that children play with only with products intended for children's clothes. Many mothers prefer to use baby shampoo, bubble bath (also for children), baby soap, etc. These products definitely won’t harm the baby.
  • When washing toys in an automatic machine, set the extra rinse mode, because soap preparations and dirt can penetrate deep into the product, and you will need to try very hard to remove them from there.

Now let's look at the types of washing in more detail.

Washing toys by hand

Hand washing is used in several cases: when there is no washing machine or when toys are particularly delicate and there is a risk of them being damaged in the machine drum. Also, sometimes the size of the toy does not allow it to be placed in the drum of the washing machine.

For this procedure, you need to pour warm water into a large container. Check the label on the seam to know at what temperature you can wash it. Lather the toys with baby soap and leave for a while (15-20 minutes). After this, using a soft brush, treat the entire surface of the products and rinse well with water. If the toys are strong enough and do not have small parts, then they can be twisted by hand. Otherwise, lay them out on a towel to allow excess moisture to be absorbed into the terry cloth.

How to machine wash

Instructions for washing toys in an automatic washing machine:

  • Before you start washing toys globally, read the information on their labels, because there may be an icon prohibiting the wet cleaning method. If such a sign is absent, then you can proceed with your plan.
  • Inspect the products carefully. If they are damaged, they need to be sewn up before washing.
  • Remove the music mechanism, if present. Untie all sorts of bows and straps.
  • Place the toy item in a special laundry bag.
  • Select the delicate mode on the control panel of the machine, set the temperature to 30 degrees (60 degrees can only be used if you suspect the presence of ticks in the toy) and start the wash.
  • Do not use a spin cycle to prevent the product from becoming deformed. It is better to squeeze it out by hand after removing it from the machine drum.
  • Place the washed toys on a horizontal plane covered with a towel. When the liquid has drained, you can hang the products, securing them with several clothespins.

To combat dust mites and various bacteria, in addition to washing at high temperatures, toys are often exposed to low temperatures. The animal is placed in a bag, and the bag with it is placed in the freezer for a couple of days. In winter, the plush pet can be taken out to the balcony.

Soft toys are our kids' favorite friends. They spend a lot of time with their pets. That is why you need to try to wash and clean your entire toy stock as often as possible, so that they do not turn from comrades into evil pests. In addition, if you take care of toys and wash them more often, they will not lose their attractiveness and freshness longer.
