Is shopping with children fun or not? Secrets of shopping with children: combining business with pleasure Middle and economical price segment

Sooner or later, all parents face the “child in the supermarket” problem.

It’s one thing to go with your daughter or son to a bakery for Borodinsky, but going to a supermarket or a large shopping center correctly is a whole science! That's right - this is without damage to the child's psyche and without damage to the parent's wallet.

Everything's under control

Contrary to the desire of many mothers to protect their child from everyday problems, it is better to comprehend the wisdom of going “shopping” from a young age. It is advisable for the baby to sit in a stroller or strapped into a children's bicycle. This makes it easier to control the grasping reflex of a baby, who is simply not able to drive past bright packaging or catch the mirror surface of a display window with his palm.

Don’t be lazy to periodically bend down and inform your child about your actions. Comment on what you take from the shelves, why, and how this or that product is useful. By communicating with the baby, you will not give him any chance to fall asleep. And this often happens to kids who are just beginning to master shopping skills. To make shopping with children a pleasure, do not stay in the store for half a day. And then shopping together will not be a burden, but a joy.

This is cool!

Having formed the right attitude towards consumption in the child and competently built a model of behavior in the shopping center, the mother will never experience discomfort from going to the store with her child.

Put in a little work and explain to your daughter or son what is good in the store and what is expensive. And then you won’t have to look for a nanny who will agree to stay with your child for “half an hour” (which often stretches) while you shop.

In addition, shopping can be turned into an educational hour. Tell your daughter why these domestic apples are better than those beautiful imported ones. Explain to your son why it is better to take diet bread from the shelf than a package of chips. Such practical “activities” for children are much more useful than boring moral teachings.

Unlike the husband, who dislikes shopping even more than his mother-in-law, children can be taught to walk around the store to their advantage.

It's horrible!

Tears, hysterics, demands to buy an elephant or a remote control helicopter - all this is fully felt by parents who did not explain to their child in time the meaning of the magic word “no”. As long as the child does not cry, at first they buy him what the young buyer pointed his finger at. And then the problem of shopping with children becomes far from a toy problem.

A cute child, entering a store, turns into a monster, frightening both sellers and buyers with his scream. As you approach the checkout, the situation can only get worse. It’s not for nothing that there are shelves with chewing gum, candies and chocolate eggs there. The availability of these children's joys and caries provocateurs forces children to organize the second part of the Marlezon Ballet.

If you are not sure that your baby will adequately endure joint shopping, choose those stores that have educational rooms and children's animators. This will save your and your baby’s nerves.

Amusement in a trolley

The main thing is that a trip to the supermarket does not replace a child’s trip to a puppet theater or a trip to the forest. Getting used to enjoying trips to the cart between shelves with cookies, candies or, even better, toys, it is already difficult to drag the baby to the park. There is no such change of scenery. And you won’t be satisfied with the flowers from the flowerbed. Why look at grasshoppers in the grass, if life-size catfish and bream in the aquarium of the fish department look much more appetizing.

Look for a middle ground and let your shopping experience with your children be interesting and meaningful.

Children's shopping

Children go shopping both with their parents and independently. The choice of purchase depends on this. If a child is allowed to go to the store alone, he is not given very much money. Therefore, his purchases are limited to chips, sweet carbonated water, sweets, chocolate, etc. There is a lot of talk abroad about the dangers of such purchases for children’s health. In America, there was even a law banning the sale of these products near children's educational institutions.

When a child goes shopping with his parents, he realizes that his potential shopping opportunities increase. He begins to ask his parents to buy this or that thing that he cannot buy himself. This could already be a toy, a colorful book, a bicycle and other sports equipment, etc.

Parents, experiencing pressure and pressure from their children, often give in to them and buy the required goods. Otherwise, mothers will never enjoy their own shopping experience, for which they came to the store.

Meanwhile, the demand and desires of children to purchase certain goods are increasing thanks to children's advertising. This type of advertising in Russia has just begun to develop. But children's channels are already appearing, which are filled with similar advertising aimed only at children. There are a lot of children's advertisements on regular television as well. Various bars, chocolates, yoghurts, sparkling water, chewing gum - all this is advertised in large quantities.

Children love to watch advertising because it is colorful and interesting, it has a lot of changing pictures, and most importantly, it is short. Many kids, not yet understanding not only the words, but even what is depicted in the advertising video, nevertheless look at the screens in fascination, unable to look away. From infancy, children’s subconscious is imprinted with the pictures they see while watching TV every day.

At the age of 3–4 years, a person lays the foundation of character and preferences that will begin to manifest themselves at an older age. As soon as the child begins to understand what is what from the advertised things, he will begin to desire it and beg for purchases from his parents. He has a particularly passionate desire to achieve and get his way when some thing is popular among other children - his friends and girlfriends.

Recently, there has been a clear increase in sales of children's products. Stores specializing only in children's assortment began to appear. This is due not only to the emerging demand, but also to the increased willingness of parents to spend more money on children's products than before. The reasons for this lie, on the one hand, in the fact that many parents began to earn more, and on the other hand, in the fact that a lot of cheap, bright children's products are coming from abroad. True, these products are mostly of low quality and even pose a danger to children’s health. Thus, toys and clothing from Asia contain toxic substances. Basically, it all comes down to the paint used and the material from which the products are made. In Europe, such things are not allowed for sale.

Toxic substances contained in toys can significantly affect the health and development of a child.

However, the brightness of the colors attracts the attention of both parents and children. There is no educational work being carried out among the population to explain what is useful and what is harmful for children. Advertising dominates everywhere, which is always silent about the shortcomings and harmful effects.

Meanwhile, even child psychologists are beginning to raise the alarm about the wrong toys. The images that are created by toy designers form in the child incorrect ideas about the world around him, animals, people, etc. Scary images of toys can lead to mental trauma.

Various trends and hobbies also contribute to children’s desire to acquire this or that thing. For example, having purchased a Barbie doll, parents will soon hear requests to buy girlfriends and friends for Barbie, a dollhouse, etc. Toy creators are constantly puzzling over what could captivate children.

Computer games have also become a fashionable hobby for children. The child spends hours on end playing, neglecting homework and socializing with friends. This affects the child's social development. He becomes withdrawn and uncommunicative. Meanwhile, more and more interesting games are being created that take children into the virtual world of robots, vampires, sorcerers, soldiers, etc. All this also negatively affects the child’s psyche.

Shopping with a baby In general, living with a newborn baby, even for a couple of weeks, quite quickly sets off the melancholy and monotony of all the previously lived years. For example, shopping immediately takes on new colors and adds thrills to the dullness of existence.

As I promised you in Instagram, showing shopping lists for my children. I will soon be updating my wardrobe with them at the biggest sale in America.

You also have time to prepare and choose things to buy on the 4th of July at the best prices!

I do thorough children's shopping 1-2 times a year. Then I just buy additional things as needed.

I really love the Ralph Lauren brand, but I don’t buy clothes from this brand in Russia, because you know, the prices there and here are very different. And if it’s also during the sales period, then it’s just heaven and earth. Even the best selling ZARA cannot compare in price, much less in quality.

I buy through Shopfans, wherever I am at the moment. You know that now I’m just in the states. BUT! There is no way I will carry so much clothes with me - no suitcases or extra payments for excess weight will be enough. That's why I buy online and send to Russia. Just the other day I bought myself soooooooof of these cowboy TOGA shoes from Matchesfashion - you'll rock them. And I will only meet them in Moscow, now they are at the Shopfans warehouse.

My daughter is 6 years old, my son is 8.

Daniil and Milena

These are visualized shopping lists that have already been loaded into the cart on ralphlauren.com and are waiting for the 4th of July, so that before my eyes the total decreases in honor of the sale, and I promptly pay for everything and send it through Shopfans to Moscow :)

I will also buy Dana’s school uniform this year on RL.

I would like to note that at RL I dress Daniil from head to toe, and for Milena I often buy summer clothes there, and a special love is casual dresses made from natural materials!

You can put together the same capsule wardrobe for your child by analogy, focusing on his age, clothing needs and climate in your country of residence.

Shopping with children is not a rewarding task. Immediately prepare yourself for the fact that in a few minutes your child will start whining and asking to go home. And if we are talking about choosing clothes and trying on, then it is better to immediately abandon the idea of taking children shopping with you.

If you still don’t believe me, we suggest looking at a selection of photos that will definitely convince you of this.

When will this shopping end?

This kid decided to feel like a mannequin. I wonder what passers-by thought as they passed by this display case?

“Mom, take me for a ride on the cart!”

“Son, but it’s filled with food.”

“Nothing, I’ll find a way out of the situation!”

This girl is desperately trying to stop the cart.

This kind of “monster” from horror films can be found in a store if mom decided to chat with the seller. Well, right, what else can you do out of boredom?

“Lord, let me out of here already!”

A child's reaction to another mother's purchase!

“So, what beauty would you like to invite to play in the sandbox today?”

“Mom, let's play hide and seek! Look for me!

I wonder if mom will quickly find her daughter?

Baby in the freezer. Yes, the spectacle is not for the faint of heart.

Why not change your look? Moreover, the store has everything you need for this.

Do you think these kids are going to go to Halloween? You guessed it wrong, a regular shopping trip is planned.

This is the time when you can relax and unwind while shopping!

Modern children, even during boring shopping, will be able to find how to entertain themselves!

The baby develops fine motor skills and logical thinking! And it’s okay that this required all the boxes of cereal from the shelves.

It’s interesting to see a child who destroyed all the cosmetic samples in a few seconds! Perhaps in the future he will become a famous makeup artist.

How do you like this destruction in the store? Surely more than one child “worked” here.

Shopping with mom is not an easy test for a son. But very interesting and instructive!

No matter what anyone says, the love of shopping is in every lady’s blood from birth.

This is how men restore “order”!

Shopping takes a lot of time and effort...

“Mom, why can’t you take the cart home?”

Why do you need a sofa if it’s already comfortable?

Testing a new chair!

It feels like these baskets were specially designed to carry such babies!

I remember the first time I went to the mall with my baby: a tense dad, looking around in search of escape routes, a bag with baby hygiene products and clothes, a backpack of toys, on their faces it was written: “We are armed with wet wipes and are very dangerous.”

Since then I have noticeably relaxed. Not in the sense of growing cheeks, but making a plan for myself to go out with a child and now I can easily manage without the help of my husband. He pretends to be worried, but I'm sure he jumps for joy every time the door closes behind us. At least when they go for a walk, I do this.

1. Go shopping on weekdays in the morning

Through trial and error, I found out: workday evenings or weekends are the worst times to go shopping. Excited flocks of buyers fluttering from one boutique to another, exhausted salespeople, stuffiness - and now you have succumbed to the rhythm and are in a hurry to no one knows where.

A weekday morning is another matter - fortunately maternity leave allows it. The assortment is the same, but the fuss is three times less. The child will not worry about the crowd, and will not have to maneuver between suddenly frozen customers.

2. Research the area in advance

If you are going to a new shopping center, go to the official website and find out about the availability of children's rooms, whether they rent strollers and what cafes are available in the food court. Forewarned is forearmed.

If, for example, there is no room for feeding, a diaper or a large scarf will be useful to cover yourself or urgently change the baby's clothes.

3. Pack a backpack with the necessary things

Only this year I learned about special backpacks for mothers - they look ordinary, but inside there are divisions for jars, diapers and other things, on the outside there is an attached thermal pocket with compartments for bottles, but the main thing is that the bag opens both from the top and from the bottom, if you need to get it out something at the bottom. In general, the world will not be the same, and when my second son arrives, I know what I will buy first.

Our list of what you need for a trip to the store looks like this:

  • changeable diapers - 4 pcs.
  • change of clothes - pants, T-shirt, socks
  • thick diaper - 1 pc.
  • wet wipes - 1 pack
  • waterproof diaper - 1 pc.
  • drinking water - 1 bottle
  • snack - peeled and chopped carrot sticks, apple
  • children's medical insurance and a copy of the birth certificate (yes, I'm an anxious mother)
  • toys

Of course, the list can be supplemented, but it has been enough for two and a half years. Diapers were recently released - they are not relevant.

4. Choose toys

For everyone, therefore, without specifics: the toy should be easy to hold with one hand (a rattle, small plastic or rubber figures or cars), easy to wash with a damp cloth in case of a fall, and not get on the nerves of others with loud squeaking. For the little ones, a few rattles or a hanging mobile will be enough; for the one-year-olds, they will need teethers and everything that can be examined and safely shoved into the mouth.

On the portal "I'm buying" you will find exciting and compact toys for your baby. Made from safe materials and bright in design, your child will love them and will entertain him while shopping.

About two-year-olds I will say this: let’s forget for a while that we are treating according to Komarovsky. If you want your child to sit up straight in the stroller, give him a cartoon or an educational game on your phone. Seriously, in our case, constant snacks and snacks save us from the collapse of the operation. Thanks to the latter, the child fell in love with shops and sometimes asks to go to a boutique.

5. Choose comfortable clothes
