Sewing a princess dress. Adorable dress for a little princess. Video: "Princess Sofia Dress"

In the past, tailors resorted to various tricks to keep skirts fluffy by creating special frames. In the world of modern fashion, on the catwalk, in haute couture models, this also takes place, but in ordinary life, creating an outfit even for an evening, solemn event, of course, they do without them. To make the skirt of the “princess” dress sufficiently voluminous, you can use dense, elastic, well-shaped fabrics, for example, satin, mesh, thick silk. To lighten the silhouette, weightless lace, chiffon or gauze are often added over dense fabrics. Thick lace, velvet, velor, knitwear, leather, suede are suitable for the top of the dress ...

Many designers from around the world. in their collections, they offer dresses in the style of "princesses". Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, Naeem Khan, Dior, Alberta Ferretti all of them and many others allow us to look at the classic silhouette through the eyes of modern fashion.

Today's modeling lesson will help us get closer to our dream. The proposed model was created by fashion designer Don O * Neil, fashion brand Theia, and meets all the conditions of the genre, in addition, the designer showed the ability to combine different textures of fabrics. In his collection there are several variants of the model that can be created using the modeling techniques discussed in our material.

To start modeling the dress, we need to have the basis of the dress. To do this, go to our website, select "" and indicate your measurements. Then the program will instantly build your individual pattern and, after paying for the service, you can print it even on an A4 printer and glue the sheets to get full-size base patterns. Instructions on how to do this are on the pattern generation page.

Consider the technical drawing of our model. We see waist darts, chest tuck, which is transferred to the side seam, the neck is decorated with a boat, a short tight-fitting sleeve. The fastener can be made in the side seam. Dress detachable at the waist, belt. The skirt is long to the floor, laid with deep counter folds. Pockets in the side seams.

Let's start modeling from the top of the dress - the bodice. Let's translate the chest tuck, shorten the shoulder and draw the neck line. A small solution of the shoulder tuck of the back, which remained after the design of the neck, can subsequently be sutured. We shorten the sleeve according to the sketch.

Here's what we got. Check the matching of the sleeve length and the armhole line!

Now let's get to the skirt. First you need to lengthen the patterns of the skirt to the required length, move the darts along the waist line down and open.

We got intermediate patterns,

which remain a little finalized, they can also be used when cutting the lining of the skirt. (If you understand the principle, you can do without an intermediate pattern, and carry out all modeling in one step, pushing the details to the depth of the folds, do not forget about the depth of the darts.) So, we adjust the side seam line (straighten), the bottom line and the waist line (compare it size, minus folds, with a waist line on the bodice). Please note that the depth of the folds at the waist line and at the bottom is not the same, it is larger towards the bottom of the skirt, this determines the final shape of the skirt. Skirt templates are ready.

The pattern of our dress is ready. Don't forget the belt. You can start cutting and sewing products. A few tips:

Pockets in the seams are usually located at a distance of 7 cm from the waist down,

When cutting transparent fabrics, it is convenient to use a substrate, for example: an old bedspread or a piece of dark-colored calico, it is not better to see the markings,

When laying folds, combine the notches, the depth of the folds can be directed both from the center of the skirt, if the folds are opposite, and vice versa - if you want to get bow folds,

Folds can also be replaced with an assembly, then simply lay two parallel lines along the upper cut of the skirt with the largest stitch on the machine and pull it off, evenly distributing the assembly, to the size of the waistline on the bodice,

Do not spare the pins when cutting off the cuts of the parts - when cutting, the fabrics will not slide relative to each other,

Connecting seams on transparent fabrics are best done with a linen seam,

Use unexpected combinations of fabrics, be bold, you can add a little humor - then you will not go unnoticed!

And if you decide to make a two-layer skirt, then the folds on both layers need to be laid together, so they will be more voluminous.

A little about how to process the bottom of the skirt.

In skirts made of thin transparent fabrics, the bottom hemming is performed with a hem seam with a closed cut.

There are many ways to get a beautifully contoured look of a skirt made of dense silk fabrics that hold their shape. For example, you can process a cut with an overlock or an oblique trim, then bend it to the wrong side. In flared cuts, an excess of fabric of the folded edge is formed in relation to the skirt. This excess tissue must be removed, i.e. suture so that the folded edge lies on the wrong side of the skirt evenly, without folds. This method is useful if the width of the folded edge does not exceed 2.5-3 cm.

If you want a wider hem, to give elasticity to the folds along the bottom of the product, you need to use the so-called facing or lining. This method is quite laborious, but the result is worth it.

We wish you good luck and creative success!

2. Attach the pattern to the blue velvet folded in half and cut out the bodice. Remember to leave 2 cm allowances on all sides.

3. The back of the bodice of the princess costume consists of 2 parts. They should be identical to the front, only leave 2 cm allowances in the middle to make a clasp. And the neckline of the back should be a little less deep.

4. On the wrong side of the silver fabric, draw a trapezoid. Sizes are approximate. Its upper part should be equal to the width of the cutout. Height - front length. The base is slightly wider than the top (optional). Allowances of 1 cm on each side. Cut out the part and attach it to the front part with pins, bending the allowances.

5. Sew the silver insert on the sewing machine.

6. Round the neckline.

13. Align the parts by attaching the right sides to each other. Run the shoulder seams.

4. Fold the tape inward and sew so that a neat stitch lies on the front side along the contour of the neck.

5. Shorten the parts of the tape that extend beyond the edges of the neckline, fold and hem by hand.

petals

1. How can you sew a princess costume with your own hands and leave it without beautiful petals on the sides? From white satin, cut a square with a side of 60 cm.

2. Shape it into a circle.

3. Fold the circle in half. Sew along the rounded side, leaving a small opening. Through it, turn the part to the front side. Close the hole carefully.

4. On the straight side, sew a basting stitch at a distance of 0.5 cm from the edge.

5. Pull the thread and pick up the petal.

6. Attach it to the side of the bodice so that half of the petal is in front and half in the back. Pin the second petal.

7. Stitch the petals, finish the edge.

Skirt

1. From blue satin, cut out 2 identical rectangles measuring 110 x 65 cm.

2. Sew the pieces together by joining the smaller sides. Finish the edge with a zigzag.

5. Sew the seam and finish with a zigzag.

6. Turn the dress right side out. It's ready.

Accessories

bezel

1. From blue satin, make 2 identical parts. Measure the circumference of the child's head. The length of each piece should be 2/3 of the length of the head. In the middle, it should expand a little. Cut 2 more details of the same shape from non-woven fabric. But they should be a little smaller.

2. Using an iron, connect the satin and non-woven parts.

3. Cut off the corners of the blue fabric.

6. Straighten the item, iron. Sew up the open edge.

7. Sew elastic to the ends of the headband. The rim is ready.

Fingerless gloves

1. Having measured the girl's hand, cut out 2 parts that expand upwards. Don't forget allowances. Gloves may be slightly larger than the diameter of the handles. Cut off the bottom at a sharp angle.

2. Finish the edges carefully without stretching the fabric.

3. Sew an elastic loop to a sharp corner.

4. Use a pin to thread the elastic into the hem of the upper part. Pull lightly to avoid stinging the handle and secure at the edges.

5. Bend the parts in half lengthwise and lay the seam. Do the 2nd part in the same way. Turn right side out. The gloves are ready.

Necklace

1. Measure the circumference of the child's neck. Cut a piece of satin ribbon the same length plus 3 cm.

2. Sew a piece of Velcro to both ends of the tape. It will serve as a clasp.

For many mothers, the first child becomes a kind of last doll. This phrase is especially true for girls. So they try to dress their little ones like princesses, spending huge amounts of money on various outfits. Every mother wants her daughter to look her best on any occasion. But after all, it is not at all necessary to go shopping and buy expensive things, you can independently replenish the children's wardrobe with beautiful, elegant, festive clothes. This article will be devoted to this, in it we will give several examples of how to sew a princess dress for a girl with our own hands.

Sewing a fabulous dress for a little fairy

To sew a dress for a princess with your own hands, you will need only half a meter of yellow material, about a meter wide, printed and embroidered in white and golden colors.

Important! It is better to give preference to natural fabrics, for example, to buy linen, chintz or silk, so that the baby is comfortable in a new outfit.

Also for sewing you will need:

  • The seam of the corresponding color is approximately 1 m.
  • Satin ribbon 1.5 m long and 2.5 mm wide.
  • Tailor's meter, pins.
  • Ruler, scissors, thread, pattern, chalk or bar of soap.
  • Sewing machine.

Carry out the sewing according to this scheme:

  1. Before starting work, wash the fabric, iron it, because if it is natural, it is guaranteed to sit down after washing.
  2. Make a drawing directly on the material, no paper patterns are needed.
  3. First draw two squares with sides equal to 50 cm. Then cut them out to get the base for the dress.
  4. Measure two more pieces of seam measuring 50 cm.
  5. Decide on the picture where the top and bottom of the outfit will be, then pin the seam to the base with pins at a distance of 1 cm from the edge, and they should be located across the edge, so that later it would be more convenient to lay a line without sweeping the details.
  6. Stitch the seam to the base, fasten the seams, including the reverse on the typewriter and also back. Take out the pins. Trim any irregularities on the fabric and seam.
  7. On the overlock, process the edge, while the step length should be 1 mm, and the seam height should be 5 mm. Then smooth it, wrap it in the direction of the base, lay another line. Do the same with the other square of material.
  8. Fold the squares of fabric face to face, fold them lengthwise, pin them together with pins in several places so that they do not move during the cutting process.
  9. Set aside 10 cm from the place of the fold at the top of the future dress, conditionally set point C. Further, set aside another 5 cm from it towards the edge, designate this point with the letter A.
  10. From point A, draw down a perpendicular 10 cm long, set point B. From the edge of the line connecting the base and the seam, draw a straight line to point B, connect them. Using the pattern, connect points B and C. That's it, the pattern is ready.
  11. Cut out the blank of the product, leaving 1 cm at the seams along the line. Remove the pins, unfold the future dress. Pin it on the sides with pins, stepping back from the edge 1-1.5 cm.
  12. Sew the side seams, fasten them. Iron these seams with steam, separating the edges clearly along the seam. Finish the edges with an overlocker or zigzag.
  13. Now start processing the armholes. Bend the armhole line inside out at a distance of 0.5 mm, then iron it with an iron.
  14. Lay the seam, stepping back from the edge of 2-3 mm. Bend the seam again, lay the line on top of the existing line.
  15. It remains only to process the neck. Bend and smooth its edge by 1 cm. Form, then smooth the drawstring so that it is 5 mm larger than the satin ribbon in width, bend the edges again and smooth.
  16. At a distance of 1 mm from the very first fold, lay a line, be sure to fasten it around the edges.
  17. Use a pin to thread a satin ribbon into the drawstring, tie it into a bow on one shoulder.

The dress is ready! Iron it before fitting. You can wear such an outfit for New Year's parties and other events.

  • 20 rhinestones.
  • Zipper length 35 cm.

Sew an outfit of a fairy princess according to the instructions:

  1. Remove the top pattern from the T-shirt, making allowances for the closure and seams, because the pattern should be a little larger to be comfortable, then fit the outfit to the figure.
  2. Cut out two sets of these blanks from the fabric for the front side and the material for the wrong side. Sew them separately at the sides and at the shoulders.
  3. Connect the parts together by sewing the neck from the wrong side. On the fold, make small cuts of 2-3 mm. Turn them right side out.
  4. To make sleeves, cut out 2 leaf-shaped elements from the base material, fold the edge on one side, sew.
  5. Fold in the edges of the armhole, inserting the sleeves into the appropriate places. You will get small sleeves. Sew them on to the dress.
  6. Try on the top for a girl, mark where the zipper will be.
  7. Now you need to sew the petticoat. Cut a wide strip measuring 70 by 230 cm, from white fabric 2 blanks measuring 70 by 115 cm.
  8. Sew a 6 cm wide satin ribbon to the bottom, sew a skirt on the sides. Fold the hem in half, sew.
  9. Sew the main skirt from lilac material. To do this, cut out 4 elements in the shape of a petal.
  10. Cut out 4 flowers from white fabric, sew flowers on each petal of the upper skirt.
  11. Sew all the details of the top skirt, burn the bottom edge, sew a braid with sequins to it.
  12. Cut out two more parts from the base material, burn the edges, sew a braid to them.

As a result of the work done, you will get just a chic dress, exactly the same as the outfit of Princess Sofia from the cartoon of the same name.

Important! To make a really fluffy dress, like a princess, attach a petticoat with rings to it with your own hands.

In order to sew a princess carnival costume for a girl with your own hands, you need to choose a style, coordinating it with the future royal person. Choose a picture from a children's magazine and take it as a basis. Don't be afraid of difficulties. The main thing in this ball gown is a puffy long skirt and jewelry on the bodice.

We will need:

  • the old dress of the child, according to which we will cut the outfit;
  • blue or pink fabric - 2 m;
  • white fabric - 1 m;
  • beautiful insert on the front shelf;
  • rubber;
  • oblique inlay;
  • Velcro or zipper
  • safety pins;
  • scissors, pencil, ruler.

    1. You need to take your girl's old dress and make a pattern on it on paper.

    1. Cut the shelves according to paper patterns, leaving allowances for the seams.

    1. The pattern of the back consists of two identical shelves. Leave 3 cm for the Velcro or 1 cm for the zipper.

    1. To make the outfit very beautiful, try to choose the most beautiful fabric, brocade, embossed satin, lace, etc. to insert on the front.

    1. Sew a clasp on the back.

    1. Measure the circumference of the girl's shoulder and cut out the cuffs. The sleeve pattern is quick and easy. Draw it first on paper, simply adding 3 cm to the length of the cuff and laying 4 cm up the sides, and 10 cm in the middle. Connect the dots with a smooth line and cut the sleeves out of white fabric, retreating 1 cm from all sides to the seams.

    1. Stitch cuffs and sleeves, collecting small folds evenly. For ease of assembly, use safety pins.

    1. Sew on the sleeves, also gathering the "excess" fabric with safety pins at the shoulder. Remove pins after stitching.

    1. Now you can make a tail pattern. Cut out two 60x50 cm ovals from white fabric.

    1. Fold them in half along the short side and sew, leaving 2 cm to turn the “bags” inside out. Sew them to the bodice along the fold line, slightly gathering, on the right and left at the waist.

    1. Sew a long wide skirt from two rectangular panels. The wider the pattern, the fuller the skirt will be.
    2. Sew an elastic band to it and stitch with the bodice.
    3. Tuck the edges, process the neck with an oblique trim. Various decorative details can be added. For example, a ribbon-belt tied with a lush bow at the back, or lace trim along the edge of the neckline and insert. Children's carnival outfit for the girl is ready.

Oriental princess costume

After the cartoon about Aladdin conquered the entire child population of the planet, almost all the girls wanted to at least look a little like the beautiful Jasmine. Why not give your little one a dream by simply sewing a princess Jasmine children's carnival costume for her.

It consists of a short top, which can be made from any beautiful blouse, cut off on all sides and decorated with fringe, and bloomers. You can sew them from a beautiful translucent fabric.

The photo shows the easiest way to cut pants with just two parts. Stitch your pants first. Fold the piece lengthwise and sew along the edge, starting from the top of the leg. Then we connect the two parts along the step seam. Fold in the edges and insert the elastic.

An adult carnival costume looks spectacular on a lovely busty girl. An adult outfit can be made with a deep neckline and low waist. Don't forget that Jasmine had a thick long braid and a diadem.

Princess Leia costume and Aurora outfit

Princess warrior, beautiful, strong, smart and dexterous. The ideal of many girls. She has an original hairstyle (two "donuts" above her ears) and a white long dress with slits. Both children's and adult costumes consist of a dress, a bright wide belt at the waist with all kinds of studs, and spectacular alien weapons.

The Princess Leia costume is easier to sew than other royal outfits. The dress pattern consists of two long rectangles for the front and back and two rectangles for the sleeves. Don't forget to make "headphones" out of braids.

An adult or children's costume of Princess Aurora or the sleeping princess, as we used to call her, does not have so many characteristic recognizable elements. Therefore, you can sew it according to any patterns.

The main thing is not to forget that before falling asleep, she cooked, cleaned, did housework in the house of the heroes. Therefore, it is better not to use either brocade or transparent chiffons. Of course, before burying her, the named brothers took off her apron and put a small crown on her head, but where could they get a chic court dress.

Princess Sofia costume

This heroine of favorite children's cartoons is easy to recognize by several signs.

  1. She wears beautiful bright jewelry.
  2. She has a small diadem on her head.
  3. Sofia's dress is lush purple with a relief hem and a characteristic pattern on it.

You can sew such an outfit by studying the master class presented above. Only skirts should be two. One is purple with semicircular cutouts along the hem and a pattern, and the second lower one is light and openwork.

princess elsa costume

Haughty, cold, like a snow queen, our children also like the girl. They are sure that a miracle will happen, and the beauty will become good. The dress should be in cool blue-blue tones with silver embellishments.

To make Elsa's carnival costume, you can sew a simple straight (or year) long sundress with thin straps. Sew the same long transparent train along the edge of the bodice (on the sides and back). The pattern is given for sizes 40-42, but you can reduce or increase it according to your size.

This arrogant princess in the cartoon didn't wear a crown, but she most likely would have. Therefore, you can complement the outfit with a small shiny tiara.
