Nails for the New Year are beautiful in one color. Beautiful New Year's nail design: photo ideas, new items, trends. Cute “knitted” manicure

If initially they preferred to create complex designs only on long nails, now everything has changed. A small length of 2-3 centimeters does not limit the flight of imagination of craftsmen who create complex and creative patterns. If the owner does not like bright or “sophisticated” design, then you can give preference to the natural option - it is classic.

Popular winter manicure:

  1. For a natural manicure, choose natural and pastel shades. The most popular remain: beige, peach and all shades of pink. You can add a festive mood with a small amount of glitter, which roughly resembles snow on your nails.
  2. In winter, the “knitted sweater” effect on nails is quite popular, which is created using special acrylic powder. This manicure looks very cute and cozy, and is most often performed in calm neutral shades.
  3. For short nails, shellac coating is often used, especially if the plate is not in perfect condition. You can use rhinestones and stickers for decoration. Shellac provides not only an even and smooth surface, but also a healing effect. Plus, the coating is durable for 2 weeks.

There are many options and ideas for New Year's manicure for short nails, you just need to choose the right one from them!

New Year's French for short nails

French is my favorite French manicure. It has gained particular popularity due to its naturalness and versatility. At the moment, there are many varieties of it: lunar, double, reverse, striped or with a triangular hole. Therefore, this option definitely cannot be called boring.

New Year's manicure can be done not in classic white and pink tones, but, for example, with a golden border or silver elements. Often they make a spectacular hole from rhinestones. There are many other techniques: shiny snowflakes, highlighting only one nail on the hand with a different color or shine, etc. In general, for the New Year you shouldn’t skimp on glitter and shimmer, but you shouldn’t use several shades of “glitter” at the same time - only professionals can make such a manicure stylish.

“Lunar” manicure for the New Year for short nails

Moving a little away from the classic version, the lunar French, which has another name - the reverse or “reverse” French, has taken a strong position. It involves an emphasis on the bottom of the nail. This is the lunula, which is located on the border with the cuticle. Usually it is highlighted in a contrasting color in relation to the rest of the nail, often together with a “smile”.

There are several features in its execution. Since the manicure itself will be quite simple, for a spectacular look the nail plate must be in perfect condition, which requires high professionalism. In this case, the greatest attention is paid to cuticle processing, since any mistakes will be very noticeable.

For independent execution, it is better to choose a “lightweight” version, which is made using special templates and stencils: arc-shaped, semicircular or triangular. Over time, the skill will develop and it will be possible to draw a straight line without using these devices: first, a colored coating is applied to the surface of the nail, and then a “smile” is drawn. But this requires patience and a little time!

New Year's manicure in blue tones for short nails

The time of year affects not only outfits and hairstyles, but also color preferences. For example, in winter the color blue becomes more popular, reminiscent of snow, ice and dark, long nights. This trend can also be seen in manicure, and the following colors are often chosen to decorate blue shades:

  • white;
  • gold;
  • silver.

Additional elements include various kinds of sparkles, rhinestones and stones.

Fashion trends also influence the choice of pattern. For example, now they often use several shades of the same color at once. Geometric patterns aren’t losing ground either; you should definitely try a manicure with “New Year’s motifs” in a bluish tint. Since this color is quite dark, it is “diluted” with light contrasting patterns.

Red on short nails - perfect for the New Year

There is probably no other more New Year's and festive color than red! This is a classic not only in manicure, but also in makeup, which will never go out of fashion. In addition to the femininity that it symbolizes, this color can attract the attention of others, and in a New Year's setting it will go well with the entire surrounding space, and not just with an outfit.

  1. If you want to further decorate or tone it down a little, then “white” color comes to the rescue in the form of patterns, stripes, dots or lace, etc. The trend of the last 2 years is a knitted pattern on nails.
  2. If it is impossible to beautifully apply any patterns yourself, your favorite stencils and special stickers - sliders - come to the rescue.
  3. Don’t forget about “glitter and shimmer” - we add a festive touch with rhinestones, foil, as well as gold and silver sparkles.

In any case, red is a win-win option for a New Year's party.

“Brilliant” option on short nails for the New Year

The variety of ways to decorate your nails cannot be compared with the popularity of different sparkles, rhinestones and glitter. This is an almost obligatory element of any outfit or hairstyle.

  1. By choosing cool metallic shades as a base, you can easily achieve the effect of sophisticated luxury.
  2. If you are planning a fun youth party, then shiny elements can be combined with “leopard” or the now fashionable “marble”.
  3. Pastel shades of the base combined with foil or rhinestones are suitable for any look.

In any case, if your outfit is discreet, then you can not skimp and decorate short nails to the fullest.

“Green” on short nails for the New Year

Another most New Year's color after red is green. For nails, this is not the most common palette, but it is perfect for a New Year’s manicure, especially since green shades go well with a large number of colors:

  • white;
  • black;
  • red;
  • blue and turquoise;
  • gold.

Emerald tones are perfect for the now fashionable “cat’s eye” effect, with tints of dark and light shades.

Unusual manicure in black

Black, along with red, is considered a classic color not only in manicure, but also in clothing, accessories, etc., but not many people choose it for New Year’s Eve. But if you decorate dark short nails with patterns or designs using sparkles or rhinestones, you can get a wonderful holiday option.

Its peculiarity is that black can be combined with almost any other color, any length and shape of the nail plate. Snow-white snowflakes or dots in light colors, which are made with a special tool - dots, look especially advantageous.

Technique for performing New Year's manicure on short nails in delicate shades

Among the easiest to perform independently are images made in the form of ordinary colored dots. These could be snowflakes, snowmen or Christmas trees. If it seems quite difficult to create such masterpieces on your own, then you can purchase special kits, for example, Stamping Nail Art. The set consists of special stamps with which you can easily decorate your nail plate with patterns.

An important point in this procedure is the correct combination of colors and shades. For example, the combination of a turquoise base and patterns made with stamping in white, and decorating one of the nails on the hand with glitter, looks very gentle.

From all that has been said, we can conclude that short nails are not an obstacle to decorating them.

There are many days left before the New Year holidays, but there are already photos of manicures for the New Year 2018 online. You will have time to think through the image in advance; When choosing a suit, you will know which manicure will suit you. Even if you prefer a simple nail coating this year or do without it at all, a New Year's manicure can be unusual and eye-catching - the main thing is that it matches the outfit.

On New Year's Eve, any woman can afford to forget about stereotypes and be extravagant. This also applies to manicure. Let's consider popular nail design themes for the New Year holidays.

Sequins and rhinestones

Perhaps the idea of decorating your nails with rhinestones and sparkles has always attracted you. But it is possible that such themes for the design of nail plates frightened you and seemed too provocative when you saw them on other ladies. Relax! Anything is possible in the New Year!

The smallest sparkles, large crystals or details reminiscent of precious stones will be appropriate. Moreover, such delights look good with quite modest clothes - against the background of a plain dress, multi-colored rhinestones will be an additional decoration. If you don’t risk putting crystals on all your nails, decorate one nail on your hand with them, preferably on your ring fingers.

Do you think that stones and rhinestones are frivolous? Perform a manicure with a single-color polish with small sparkles. He will play in the light of garlands, candles and sparklers. If you don't know what kind of glitter manicure will go with your dress, take a photo of your New Year's outfit to the salon. The master will tell you how to decorate your nails for the New Year in a specific case.

Drawings and stickers

As mentioned above, anything is possible in the New Year. Therefore, if you have not tried decorating your nails with designs, now is the time! The simplest “winter” designs - snowflakes, stars - will look both cute and elegant on this day.

For risky people, the variety of images is practically unlimited. Snowmen, Santa Clauses, Christmas trees, shiny balls... Any picture will put you in the New Year mood on the eve of the chimes.

If you are not sure that you can handle the drawing yourself, but you don’t want to go to the salon or don’t have the time, factory stickers that are sold in hairdressing stores will help. Sticking them on a pre-varnished nail is not difficult. There is transfer foil with pictures that can be used to cover entire nails - but it will take skill and experience to ensure that the film lays flat and without wrinkles.

Numerous New Year's manicure ideas can be found on the Internet. Again, if you are not sure that the design on each nail will suit you, use the nails on your ring fingers.

The picture does not have to be bright - the drawing can be monochrome, two-color, or schematic. A simple Christmas tree on the nail is drawn in the form of a green triangle, and New Year's garlands are depicted schematically with thin silver and golden stripes.

New Year's French and "moon" manicure

If you decide to opt for a classic like a French manicure, a “moon” manicure, this does not mean that your nails will be exactly the same as they were throughout the year. Diversify the classics by choosing contrasting shades. Combinations of red and white, red and gold, green and gold, blue and silver shades look New Year's.

A beautiful manicure for the New Year is always noticeable. Create a French look using gold polish along the edge of the nail instead of white polish. For lunar manicure, black with gold and black with silver are good - the entire nail is covered with black, and the hole is covered with silver and gold. A stunning effect is created by the contrast of textures if you prefer matte black varnish.

Sand, flock, “caviar” manicure

Using manicure sand to create nail designs is a technique that has been popular for many years. Maybe you are already tired of this manicure, or maybe you have never tried it.

New Year is the time for colored sand for nails. Paired with neon nail polish, it will be fresh and not banal at the New Year's celebration.

Flock is an extreme design for your nails. The smallest multi-colored fibers create the effect of a velvety, “fluffy” material. On weekdays, this option is difficult to wear, especially if you are used to doing housework. But a New Year's party in the office, restaurant or nightclub, where you don't need to set the table, is an excellent occasion for covering with flock.

“Caviar” manicure is going out of fashion. However, for the New Year, such a manicure design, especially with golden or silver beads, is incomparable. And in this case, you can also apply beads not to all nails, but to one or two on your hand.

Hot fashion trends for the new year

You can adapt any of the trends that are at the peak of fashion to the conditions of the New Year holiday, making it brighter. For example, the trendy “negative space” manicure, when the plane of the nail remains transparent and is covered with temporary stickers, and the areas free from stickers are painted over with varnish, is great for a New Year’s manicure. Paint over the gaps with black varnish, remove the temporary stickers, apply silver or gold dots to the remaining unpainted areas - your New Year's manicure is ready.

A stylish geometric manicure will turn into a festive one if one of the varnishes used is with glitter. An elementary solution is silver or golden stripes and squares on any main color.

Do you like the incredibly fashionable ombre manicure this season, a manicure with smooth transitions of polish from one color to another? Buy glitter covers. Or do a regular ombre with a two-color gradient, and then stick some rhinestones or silver snowflake stickers on top.

In 2017, dark manicure was fashionable. Take advantage of this trend! As already written, the combination of black with silver and gold is especially striking. Paint your ring finger nail with gold or silver and the rest of your nails with black polish. This is perfect for a black dress.

Nail rub is fashionable today, which turns any polish into a sparkling diamond or mirror. New Year's Eve - an opportunity to turn your favorite polish into diamond or mirror polish using rubbing.

Photo of manicure for the New Year

The latest trends, personal preferences, details of appearance, holiday traditions - all this needs to be taken into account when choosing a New Year's nail design. To make the New Year's manicure 2020 look stylish and catchy, but not vulgar, it is worth adopting fashionable ideas. Current tips from nail experts plus your imagination - a great combination that will help you complete your look with a luxurious nail design!

New Year's manicure 2020 is all about catchy, stylish shades. Choose sparkling and golden décor elements to please the symbol of the coming year - the yellow pig.

Symbol of the New Year and fashionable shades of 2020

The “Mistress” of 2020 according to the eastern calendar is the Yellow Earth Pig. According to legends, you can “appease” her by using rich, catchy colors in your image that look luxurious and expensive. Decorative sparkling golden elements are another successful solution.

Even those who are indifferent to superstitions should take a closer look at nail coatings with a yellow tint. The earthy palette is in fashion. Chestnut khaki, deep dark yellow, strict mustard, warm brick, “ruddy” brown, soft yellow-green - trendy tones!

You can also adopt these colors, which promise to be trendy in the new year:

  • Dark red. A special chic is the wine undertone. A complex deep red-burgundy shade - fits perfectly into an evening look. New Year's manicure 2020 will be chic in a juicy but elegant design!
  • UV. If you were afraid to dress your nails in this trendy tone, the New Year's party will allow you to realize your bold idea! It is worth noting that it is extremely chic in its mother-of-pearl and sparkling design.
  • Poppy. A slightly muted red color with a barely expressed cold note is an expressive accent.
  • Light lilac. Fans of delicate details will like the romantic tone.
  • Sea green. Emerald with a pronounced blue undertone is an elegant color, despite its exoticism.

Good news for connoisseurs of classic solutions - basic tones are also trending. Light grey, delicate sand, milky white and black and blue are trendy neutral variations. They will also appeal to ladies who choose practicality and versatility. If there is a strict dress code at work, you don’t have to change your sophisticated, modest manicure after the winter festivities.

New Year's manicure ideas

Is choosing textures and placing coatings of current shades on the nail plate a difficult task? You should familiarize yourself with the various styles of fashionable manicure in original New Year's interpretations!

Matte manicure

Laconicism, restraint, but at the same time expressiveness are the main advantages of matte manicure. Four nail plates with a matte finish and one with shiny accents are a fashionable trend, appropriate for a festive look. As a catchy detail, you can use voluminous sparkling elements, dry glitter or a coating with shining microparticles.

Velvet sand is a type of dry matte coating that has gained popularity and is not losing it. Applying it to your nails is also a great New Year’s nail idea. Excellent manicure for the New Year 2020 - white velvet sand on the nails, imitating fluffy snow.

With kamifubuki

Many people are afraid to ask a manicurist to apply these iridescent flat confetti-like details, considering them too flashy. To prevent the “Christmas tree” effect without getting a faded result, you can use a trick - arrange the sparkles carefully. For example, put it in a line.

The kamifubuki color plays an important role in nail design. It is advisable to choose shining elements of the same color. If the design requires several bright accents, you can combine similar tones.

French

Despite the fact that the fashion for French clothing does not go away, trends in this direction need to be followed. The French ombre manicure has not left the fashion pedestal for many years now, and now it is at the peak of popularity. The principle of this design of clear plates is the absence of clear boundaries. The transition from the base of the nail to its tip should be as smooth as possible.

A multi-colored jacket is another current option. The alternation of accents on the nails of adjacent fingers looks non-standard, but not pretentious. For example, on the nail of the index finger there is a scarlet base and a golden edge, and on the plate of the middle finger it is the opposite.

If you don’t want to change your classic taste preferences, ask your manicurist to do a standard French manicure, adding creativity in the form of a slider or design. Snowflakes, spruce branches, New Year's toys, the symbol of the year - the choice is yours.

Manicure “broken glass”

The “broken glass” effect in golden tones is pompous, attractive and traditional! And in combination with dark, restrained tones, such an accent creates an atypical contrast. Golden highlights are incredibly expressive against a blue background!

You can implement this idea before the holiday in a different color scheme, but taking into account the important fashion rule - you should not overuse such a catchy detail. It is advisable to place it only on a few nails.

With rubbing

Using rubbed pigment, it is easy to create unusual, memorable effects. A party in honor of the coming year is an occasion to realize the most original desired ideas. Effects such as “northern lights” and “chafer bug” combine the depth of dark tones with luxurious, radiant tints.

Rubbing in with a metallic effect complements strict, laconic evening dresses. Nails coated with gold leaf are in harmony with sophisticated black dresses without frills, and metallic silver on the hands forms an advantageous combination with snow-white outfits.

Plain and simple design

Bright accents, rhinestones and fancy patterns aren't your thing? It’s worth betting on a timeless classic in an updated version! One of these types is a combination of monochromatic coatings of different shades on the fingers of one hand. Deep dark colors are successfully combined with pastel and similar shades.

Given the color scheme that promises to be popular in the upcoming holiday period, it is recommended to consider a combination of warm tones (from brown to gold). In the same style, you can safely combine base varnishes with rich finishes. Example: blue-green plus beige.

If a little sparkling accent doesn't cause any negative emotions, why not highlight one nail on your hand with glitter powder?! An important condition is that a standard glossy varnish or gel will be applied to the adjacent nails.

A mother-of-pearl coating with shining microparticles is also a simple but attractive nail design option. Small sparkles look especially solemn on a dark red, blue and purple base.

is a holiday where every girl wants to look irresistible. That is why New Year's manicure should be magnificent.

Before you consider New Year's manicure for short nails in general, you need to decide what trends are now in fashion, namely, certain rules.

  • It is better to avoid sharp corners. The most preferred are pistachio and oval nail shapes.
  • Manicure as a whole should be neat and well-groomed. Any defects should not be allowed, for example, peeling varnish - because this can overall spoil the impression of the image.
  • No need for too voluminous nails.
  • Maintain the harmony of colors, because they should be combined succinctly. Otherwise, it can also ruin the image.
  • Many people believe that French manicure is limited in colors. But this is far from true, because with a French jacket you can try different styles and color schemes.

What should a New Year's manicure be like for short nails?

Of course, a holiday manicure is significantly different from a regular one. To do it correctly, it is recommended to do it within the following framework.

  • Firstly, it should make you happy - because your mood is of no small importance during the holiday.
  • Do what you want. At the same time, do not forget about the combination of manicure and image, because otherwise no one will consider you stylish.
  • For the New Year's celebration, you can decorate your nails with any designs that you associate with the New Year.

How to do a manicure at home?

If you don’t have free time and you want to do your own manicure, then you should also consider a few points to make short nails irresistible on New Year’s Eve.

Many ladies prefer French manicure. Previously, it was believed that only 2 colors could be used in a jacket, but today trends have changed significantly; 3 or more shades can be used. You can add various glitters and much, much more. You shouldn't be afraid to experiment and combine classic style with something new.

Where can you get ideas?

Today there are many catalogs and portfolios, among which you can choose the best option just for you. The Internet offers a huge variety of excellent options. But you don’t have to completely copy the style - combine and experiment, because the varnish is easily erased.

Feel free to refuse outside help and do your New Year’s manicure yourself, taking into account your wishes and individual vision. As a result of this, you will receive a magnificent manicure that will be unique and inimitable.

Having chosen a spectacular dress in which you would like to celebrate the New Year, another problem arises - what kind of manicure to go with it? Yes, such a design is needed so that it fits perfectly with the outfit and gives a festive mood. Eyes widen when the manicurist offers options for New Year's nail designs, and there are so many of them! But knowing about the popular types of nail designs, you can easily discard those that are not suitable and choose what you need.

New Year's designs on nails

What not to decorate nails for the New Year! Thematic designs such as Christmas trees, snowmen and snowflakes, abundantly studded with sparkles and rhinestones, sparkle brighter than a festive tree.

Examples of unsuccessful New Year's nail designs
Unsuccessful New Year's manicure

But any girl can achieve an incredible shine on her nails, but not everyone can do a stylish manicure in line with fashion trends. There are several rules that will help you avoid common mistakes in nail design for a New Year themed manicure:

  1. An abundance of sparkles and other shiny elements on the nails is unacceptable if the outfit contains a large amount of similar decorations (for example, a dress with lurex and nails covered in glitter is a sign of bad taste);
  2. Maintaining the same nail design style as the dress is an important condition. For example, a red manicure with funny deer faces will look ridiculous with a silk wrap dress, etc.;
  3. For a harmonious image as a whole, it is important to place accents. If the dress itself is bright and eye-catching, then it is better to keep the manicure calm and choose unobtrusive jewelry and accessories. When choosing a monochromatic outfit or without decoration, it is better to place emphasis on nails and jewelry.

An appropriate manicure will make the image holistic and complete, so it’s better to think everything over a hundred times in advance, and only then decorate your nails.

Christmas tree and Christmas toys

Well, what would New Year be without a sparkling Christmas tree? And you don’t have to put this tree in the middle of the room, but just paint it on your nails. In support of this theme, it is important to place images of New Year’s toys on individual nails.

The style of the Christmas tree image can be any: cartoon, natural (like painting), contour, etc. The trend is stylistic changes in the image of the Christmas tree: changing its color, placing only a part on the nail (half, top, branch), combining it with decor, etc.

It is effective to paint a holiday tree using an airbrush, but if such a unit is not available, then acrylic manicure paints and gel paints will also work. It is inconvenient to use ordinary colored varnishes when painting, as they dry quickly and do not allow you to apply an even layer of the image.

Snowflakes and winter patterns

New Year's nail art is almost complete without the use of winter patterns and carved snowflakes. It is important to use such a winter theme for a discreet manicure. It is enough to draw a few delicate snowflakes on the selected nails and you will get an unobtrusive manicure in the New Year and winter theme. The advantages of this design are versatility. That is, with such a manicure it is appropriate to attend a New Year's party, and then calmly attend school or work.

Winter patterns in the form of monograms are the most popular to use for New Year's manicure, as they look very stylish and feminine. Color solutions for such art can be different, but the trend is dark shades of the background and white drawings of snowflakes or winter patterns. In addition, decor is used: sparkles, rhinestones, foil, etc.

Father Frost, Snow Maiden and Snowman

If you tinker a lot, you can draw traditional New Year's characters: Father Frost or the Snow Maiden, and, if desired, a snowman. To make painting longer, you should use special gel-based varnishes. You can apply the image of your favorite character to your nails using special stickers.

To create a “competent” and stylish manicure, do not get too carried away with the images on your nails. To make the design look neat on your nails, it is better to leave several nails without designs, limiting yourself to a single-color coating.

Winter landscapes

Drawing all the subtleties of winter landscapes takes a long time and not all masters can do it. In this case, nail art is done in different ways: they paint the nails with acrylic paints or gel polish, do airbrushing or simply use stickers.

The winter period is quite long, so the landscapes will not necessarily relate to the New Year's theme, because this season can surprise you with the snowy beauty of forests, fields or a simple village covered with snow. Auxiliary materials for creating winter effects can be glitter, foil, rubbing, etc.

Carnival masks

The theme of carnival masks can be present in youth designs, as well as in discreet manicures for stylish ladies. It is better to depict carnival masks in contrast: use dark shades on a light background and vice versa. To complete the design, it is permissible to use rhinestones, shiny varnishes, glitter, etc.

Clock at midnight

You can get a simple New Year's manicure only by drawing a clock on your ring finger that shows midnight. To enhance the effect, the nails are decorated with gold sparkles (or another color) and that’s it! But it is better for the watch to be part of the overall composition, and not a separately depicted object. For example, it is important to combine drawings of snowflakes, a Christmas tree and a clock.

Mittens and sweater with deer

A cozy and “warm”-looking manicure with the image of deer in knitting or winter accessories will look relevant both on New Year’s Eve and in the period after the celebration. Matte finishes, combining knitted manicure techniques with casting and velvet design would be appropriate here.

In this design it is not necessary to use an abundance of shiny decor. The trend is the softness of plush, which is transferred to the nails.

Asterisks

Another design that will appeal to lovers of universal manicure is images of stars. For a festive look, you can use glitter against a rich background. Stickers with stars look impressive against a rich background: blue, burgundy, etc. To make decoration easier, you don’t have to draw “celestial bodies”, but use star-shaped sparkles.

Glasses and champagne

Such images look great with accompanying elements: a clock, a Christmas tree, etc. The use of golden shades will emphasize the sparkle of champagne, but do not forget about the drawings of the glass itself and the additional elements that are part of the composition. For a champagne-themed manicure, you can choose a background in any shade, and sparkles are perfect for decoration.

Festive nail polish colors

Each holiday has its own colors that will maximally convey the mood of the celebration and fit into the intended theme. But no one canceled the choice of nail polish to match the dress, as well as personal preferences.

Shades of red and purple

These colors are the most New Year's colors that you can imagine for a manicure: they can symbolize the color of Father Frost's (or Santa Claus's) fur coat, and purple can symbolize the winter night sky. But these colors go equally well with white varnish, silver and golden shades, and look beautiful in a matte finish.

White and delicate shades

Manicures in gentle, non-flashy shades are created both for New Year's Eve and for further wear after the end of the festivities. A particularly discreet manicure is suitable for gel polish, when the design stays on the nails for more than one day.

It is important to use white and delicate shades close to it with contrasting colors: red, green, blue, yellow, etc. To preserve tenderness in your manicure, you can choose a decor that is close in shade to the background coating.

Black and dark shades

The trend is to create mysterious and mysterious New Year's designs using dark colors. Against such a background, all images look clear, and decorative elements look bright. Combinations of a dark background with decor that adds shimmer to the manicure: glitter, broth, foil, rub, etc. look beautiful.

Blue and cyan color

A great way to stand out with your New Year's manicure is to choose a blue or blue color for the background. The bright tones of these colors go well with calm shades: black, silver, etc. Dark blue or rich blue can be combined with any colors that are needed to create the intended New Year's design.

Shades of green

In the New Year theme, the color green is associated with a fluffy Christmas tree, which you just want to paint on your nails. But it’s not just the Christmas tree that’s good for green manicures. Dark shades have been trending for a long time, especially in matte finishes. You can depict anything against such a background, and the choice of color has no limits.

Gold and silver plating

Imitating natural phenomena (frost, snow shimmering in the sun, etc.) in winter, covering your nails with gold and silver will be relevant, and at the same time festive. These shades are trending to be used not only for decoration, but also for the background.

For a silver or golden coating of nails, varnishes with a metallic effect can be used, as well as rubbing, shiny varnish, glitter, and foil.

Nail design for the New Year

The manicure will turn out stylish and trendy if done using traditional techniques. For different shapes and lengths of nails, it is worth choosing the optimal technique so that the result of the manicure is more than spectacular.

New Year's French and lunar manicure

Creating a unique design based on a classic French manicure or moon manicure is a great idea for owners of long, short and medium-length nails. and the trend is to create lunar manicures from shades that are unconventional for such a design. For example, who would forbid painting the tip of a nail or a hole blue and filling the background with clear varnish? Moreover, this technique is favorable as a background for painting, stickers, airbrushing and decoration.

Sand manicure and powder

This technique is great for creating an unusual design that will imitate the presence of snow on your nails. Sand for manicure or powder can be chosen to match the main background, or you can create a contrast. To use this fine acrylic material, after coating with gel polish, do not dry it immediately, but rub the “damp” areas with it, and then dry it. A sandy or powdery effect can be done over the entire nail plate, but in New Year's manicure it is more often created in selected areas. For example, to highlight the knitting in a knitted manicure.

Rhinestones and sparkles

It’s hard to imagine an original New Year’s manicure without shiny attributes. But the appropriateness of these decorations in the design depends on the idea and the chosen outfit.

Placing a scattering of rhinestones on a nail is very fashionable, especially if not all nails are selected, but only one. The same goes for glitter. For a festive manicure, it is important to use both large sparkles (kamifubuki), which are similar to confetti, and small ones. It’s worth combining sparkles and rhinestones in one design carefully so that your nails don’t turn into sheer glitter.

Winter themed gradient

The trend is to combine dark blue and white colors in a gradient, and the tips of the nails can be white or blue. The more beautiful the transition is, the more spectacular the result will be. In addition to the blue-white combination, the following tandems are relevant: red-white, blue-gray, blue-silver, burgundy-black, etc.

Based on the gradient, you can create different designs using painting and decorative materials.

Winter knitted manicure

“Wearing a sweater” on your nails is back in trend. This effect is often created using stickers with a large knit pattern, but the result is more effective if you make it with gel polish or paint it with a shade darker/lighter than the main background.

To make a knitted manicure with gel polish, after the last layer of coating, you should draw a pattern characteristic of knitting on the nail so that it creates a relief and dry it in a lamp. If desired, the knitting is not made in relief and sand or powder is immediately used to make the image stand out against the general background.

Broken glass

This effect looks very “New Year’s” and does not take much time to create. Having chosen the color of the manicure base and manicure mica, you can begin the application.

The material sticks well to gel polish from which the dispersion has not yet been removed and to regular polish that has not completely dried. It is better to use a transparent varnish or top coat on top of the composition to properly fix the result.

Nail art with foil

Different types of manicure foil provide their own unique effects on the nails. One can be “poured” under transparent gel polish and admire the aquarium manicure. But for New Year's design it is better to use the “contact” look, which leaves a shiny mark on the nail. The main thing is to leave the dispersion in the desired areas, which will take on the role of glue for the shine from the foil.

Cat eye manicure

By itself, the coating with a “cat” tint produces a stunning effect, and in tandem with decorations, it will definitely impress everyone around you. In New Year's manicure, the characteristic shades of “cat” gel polish are relevant: dark blue, green, purple, red. Looks great on long nails.

Photo examples of nail lengths

Whatever the shape of short nails, there is an optimal design for everyone. For a square nail tip and a wide nail plate, it is not recommended to choose a design with large patterns and geometric shapes (for example, a clock is a circle).

For a festive manicure with a New Year theme, you are allowed to choose any shape for long nails. It all depends on the nail art and manicure technique you come up with. Oval nail designs are trending, but sharp ones do not lose their relevance when it comes to festive or themed nail designs.

Experiments with shapes and designs on medium nails are only welcome: this length is now in trend, in any execution it does not look vulgar, does not interfere with everyday life, and you can place all the necessary decorative elements on it.
