But I
2012

Today I will share with you a brilliant idea on how to make a tutu skirt with your own hands. Want to know how to sew a tutu skirt? And you don’t even need to sew it! We will weave it! This mesh (tulle) skirt is very easy to make. By the way, this skirt is called the TuTu skirt all over the world, and it comes from America.

To make a tutu skirt with your own hands, we will need the following materials:

1. Tulle (mesh)

Ideally used for such a skirt(“nylon tulle netting”). It's soft, so it's suitable even for babies, but it holds its shape, which is what you need for a full skirt. This tulle is sold in rolls about 20 cm wide. This is very convenient, since you don’t have to cut the fabric.

If you haven’t found such fabric (we don’t have it in our city), you can use ordinary tulle (or mesh). In our stores it is sold in different hardnesses. Soft tulle does not hold its shape, and hard tulle is prickly. Therefore, it is better to choose tulle of medium hardness.

2. Wide, thick elastic band

The length of the elastic is equal to the length of the waist minus 3 cm plus a few centimeters for the allowance. That is, the required length of the elastic is approximately equal to the waist circumference.

ELASTIC LENGTH = WAIST - 3 CM + SEAM ALLOWANCE

3. Satin ribbon on the bow and belt
The skirt can be decorated with a satin ribbon bow, flowers or beads.

4. Scissors

So, let's make a tutu skirt:

1. Cut the fabric into strips.

For the smallest ones (or for a short pack) you will need strips measuring 15x50 cm. You need at least 40-60 such strips for kids. For the rest, see"Calculation of fabric."

Advice:The mesh (tulle) is well cut into several layers. Therefore, first fold the fabric in several layers, and then cut in strips of the desired size.

You can use fabric of the same color or alternate different colors. Depending on your imagination and purpose, the skirt can turn out to be multi-colored, even up to the color of the rainbow.

2. We sew the elastic band into a circle or tie it in a knot. We stretch the elastic band over the leg or the back of a chair.

3. We take a strip of fabric by the middle of its length and tie it to an elastic band with a regular double knot. If you want the skirt to not be full (look to the floor), tie a loop knot.

IMPORTANT:The knot should not overtighten the elastic band, but should not dangle from it either.

ADVICE:To make tying a knot easier, place a ruler over the elastic or cut a piece of thick cardboard the width of the elastic. Tie knots around the ruler and then simply remove it.

4. Tie the knots tightly together so that the elastic is not visible until you have completed the entire circle.

5. If necessary, trim the skirt. To do this, squeeze the ends of the fabric tightly in your hand and trim the ends (do not overdo it).

6. The waistband of the skirt can be decorated with a satin ribbon. Decorate the tutu skirt with a bow or flower; to do this, thread the ribbon through several knots and tie the bow.

7. Straighten your skirt.

Calculation of the amount of fabric

A mesh skirt can be of different lengths and fullness. Using this pattern, you can make a fluffy tutu skirt, a knee-length skirt or a floor-length skirt.

Baby skirt:
For babies, skirts are usually made 20-25 cm long. Such a skirt will take about 40-60 strips of fabric 15-20 cm wide. Since we fold each strip in half, we need to cut 60 strips measuring 15x50 cm.

For example, with a fabric width of 160 cm, 10 strips will fit in one row; a meter will yield 20 strips. We will need 3 meters of fabric.

For my 4-year-old niece, I made a skirt 30 cm long (+ 6 cm per knot). My fabric strips are 12x66 cm.

Adult Skirt:
Decide how long you want the skirt to be. Add 5-6 cm per knot. Depending on the size of the waist and fullness, an adult girl needs at least 60-80 stripes. Sometimes there can be 120 of them!

Calculate the required amount of fabric for your skirt based on the width of the fabric.

Well, we sewed (that is, made) a tutu skirt from a mesh. In such a skirt you will be irresistible at a party or photo shoot. And the girls will feel like real princesses! By the way, you can come up with many costumes with such a skirt.

TuTu skirts from the Internet:

To tell you exactly, I need to know the width of the fabric you are going to buy, it is different everywhere.

If, for example, you want to make a short skirt for a baby, then with a fabric width of 120 cm there are 12 strips for each linear meter. That is, at least 4 meters of fabric are needed
If the skirt is long, then 8 meters.

Tutu skirt made of tulle: master class step by step

A do-it-yourself tulle skirt, which we invite you to sew with us, is classic tulle sun skirt. We are sewing a skirt for an adult, so the pattern and fabric consumption will be appropriate.

Please prepare everything for work:

  • Fatin. For our model, 55 cm long, the material consumption will be as follows: 5 m of fabric, 3 m wide.
  • Since the skirt is multi-layered (in our case 8 layers), it can be made without a lining. We will sew a skirt with a lining from a material selected exactly to match the tulle for the skirt.
  • Cutting knife, thread, marking pencil, pins.
  • Sewing machine.
  • Iron, mannequin(for fitting).

Let's move on to the workshop on making a fluffy tulle skirt

1 step. To cut the top and bottom layers, you should use 2 patterns, then your skirtthe shopenka will look more magnificent. The 4 top layers will be gathered at the waist, so the radius is doubled.

Step 2. We have already found out how much fabric is needed during preparation. Let's figure out how we will use it. Fold a three-meter piece of fabric twice lengthwise and get 4 layers with two folds- On the one side. And with one fold and two cuts on the other.

Step 3. We stitch (stitch) along the lower parts of the skirt, leaving allowances of up to 5 mm. We do not completely sew the second seam along the parts to leave a connector for the zipper (length 18cm).

Step 4 We put the top 4 parts of the skirt together and we lay the landing stitch with wide stitches. We tighten the stitches to the size of the waist circumference.

Step 5. Also fold the 4 lower parts of the skirt together, matching the seams. We pin the parts together and stitch them along the waist. We also sew 4 layers of zipper allowance.

Step 6. We sweep away the seam allowances for the zipper and go over them with a warm iron. We baste the zipper. Unzip it and sew the zipper into 4 layers of fabric.

Step 7. We connect 4 layers of lower with four upper layers of fabric at the waist.

Step 8. We throw and then go through a machine stitch.

Step 9. We cut the upper layers in the place where the zipper is sewn in.
Step 10. We fold the edges of the cut over the zipper and pin it.
Step 11. We sew by hand with a hidden seam.
Step 12. We make the lining using the half-sun model. We take the fabric to match the tulle. The radius of the part is equal to the waist circumference/3.

Step 13. We connect the lining parts, leaving a connector for the zipper. We smooth out the allowances or process the cuts.

Step 14. Place the lining on the skirt, back to back, and baste it, then sew it together at the waist.

Step 15. We prick the lining at a distance of 5 mm from the zipper teeth and hem with secret stitches.

Step 16 To process the top section of the shoppenka skirt, we cut out a strip of lining, 10 cm wide, fold it in half and iron it.

Step 17. Sew the belt with two sections to the top of the skirt. On the left side of the zipper leave 1 cm, on the right - 3 cm.

Step 18. Iron the waistband up, fold it right sides together and stitch the ends.

Step 19. We turn the ends of the belt inside out and pin the fold from the inside of the skirt over the seam. We hem the fold of the belt from the inside out by hand or by machine.
Step 20. Sew hooks or buttons onto the ends of the belt.

21 steps. The finished shoppenka skirt must be allowed to hang, and then trim all layers of tulle at the same level.

Step 22. The lining can be hemmed by machine.

So you have sewn a beautiful delicate skirt, if you need to take a look, welcome to our previous article.

We told you how to sew a tulle skirt for an adult. And right now we want to demonstrate a master class on how how to make a floor-length skirt for a girl.

You can also try this model on yourself. After all, light and airy tulle skirts suit almost everyone: a fluffy circle skirt looks beautiful on thin girls, strict midi suits girls with curves, and a long floor-length skirt suits absolutely everyone.

To sew a skirt you need to prepare:

  • tulle;
  • light fabric from which the petticoat will consist;
  • elastic band for the belt.

Determining the size of the future product

  1. We measure the length for the future skirt and petticoat from the waist line to the floor down. Fashion 2017 also offers skirts with a train, In addition, the petticoat can be of medium length, and the skirt itself can be maxi length.
  2. In our case, the length of the skirt will be 60 cm. If you are planning to sew a similar item for yourself, then the main women's The formula for calculating the length of a floor-length skirt is: height * 0.62.
  3. Thus, after measuring the length, we can calculate the fabric consumption. Multiply the length by 3.
  4. We will need 60 cm of fabric for the petticoat (assuming a length of 60) and tulle – 180 cm.

Let's move on to sewing

We can't do without sewing, so let's get started.

  1. Cut the tulle into 3 equal parts.
  2. Fold each piece of fabric in half, aligning the edges and then stitching them together.
  3. Fold 4 pieces of fabric one on top so that the seams match.
  4. Inside layers of tulle place fabric for lining.
  5. The seams and bottom edges on the pieces must match. The seams will be located in the back of the product.
  6. The top edge of the skirt must be sewn around the perimeter– there will be a belt in this place. For the seam we use light and large stitches, selecting threads of the appropriate color. If the skirt is pink, then the threads should match.
  7. Break the upper part of the skirt into small pieces with pins (seam inward).
  8. We measure the girl's waist and take the length of the elastic 4-5 cm shorter than the waist size.
  9. Sew the edges of the elastic with a zigzag.
  10. Straighten the folds on the skirt by pulling the bottom thread. Make sure the folds are neat and even.
  11. We also place the elastic very carefully, hiding all the bumps and uneven seams behind the belt.
  12. Sew the belt to the skirt, starting with the seam, which we made with a zigzag. As you work, stretch it a little so that it covers the entire width of the skirt.
  13. Inspect the finished result, remove excess threads.
  14. Enjoy your fitting!

  2. We take the elastic band from the calculation - child's waist size minus 4 cm and make a circle. We fasten the elastic band to the back or leg of the chair and begin tying the tulle strips.
  3. Fold the strip in half, fix it around the elastic band and tie it with 2 knots. Do not tighten too much so that the elastic is not overtightened. Next, using the same pattern, we continue to tie other ribbons.
  4. To make your tulle skirt look more neat and elegant, decorate it with a satin ribbon, which must be folded in half lengthwise and pulled through all the formed knots. The ribbon can be matched to the tone, or maybe in a contrasting color. For example, a red ribbon on a white skirt or a pink ribbon on a blue one.
  5. So that all tiers of the skirt are even, fold them into a fluffy ponytail and trim them evenly.

A fluffy tulle tutu skirt has long become a favorite part of a girl’s wardrobe. It is worn for a baby's first photo shoot and for children's birthdays. The name “tutu” came from America; the factory of the same name produces many varieties of the popular product.

Even a person far from sewing can easily make a simple tutu skirt for a girl with his own hands. Outwardly, it resembles a ballet tutu and can be of different lengths and fluffiness.

Tutu is the best model of an elegant skirt for girls of the younger age group. You can complement a lush, bright item with a plain knitted T-shirt with long or short sleeves. Much attention should be paid to the hairstyle. Long curls and a bright bow will complete the outfit.

Tutu looks good even on chubby girls. Young girls choose the tutu model only if they have a slender appearance. A white T-shirt or corset is suitable as a top for a fashionista, and you can throw a short leather jacket on top.

Shoes can be anything, it depends on the intended image. For a romantic look, pumps with heels or flats are suitable. For an informal look, black and white or colored sneakers would be appropriate. Older girls are better off refusing this choice. A tulle skirt creates a mood of romance characteristic of youth.

Varieties

A DIY tutu skirt for a girl will be a good birthday present; it can be made together with the hero of the occasion. The main thing is to first choose the model of the future new thing.

The tutu skirt can be presented in different versions, for example, with elastic, with a train or satin ribbon

The popular model has many varieties:

  • the easiest tutu to make consists of strips tied in a special way on an elastic belt;
  • the skirt has a satin stripe stitched at the bottom, it folds very nicely. She is chosen to perform in kindergarten or primary school;
  • model with filling in the form of artificial flowers or buboes;
  • a skirt with a train will decorate a young dancer;
  • Tutu can be single-layer, gathered in many folds, or consist of several layers and is even lined with satin or satin silk fabric.

Using different finishing techniques, you can get the original look of a popular skirt.

Materials for manufacturing

The original material for the American skirt is 15 den knitted nylon chiffon. It is soft and holds its shape well. The width of American chiffon is only 20 cm; due to its properties, it is best suited for making skirts for little princesses.

It holds its shape well, but is also soft and non-prickly. It is difficult to find such fabric of a different width on sale, but it can be replaced with ordinary tulle. Thin or medium density material is suitable for tutu.

Tulle, which has long been used in elegant and wedding fashion, has a number of suitable properties:

  • The cut edge of the material does not need to be edged or overcast. It looks beautiful without any processing.
  • The product is easy to care for, tulle does not wrinkle or stretch;
  • different material densities. Using one pattern you can get skirts of different sizes. The most “standing” tutus are made from hard tulle, but they require a lining. The cut edge is quite prickly;

The best fabrics for sewing a tutu skirt are nylon chiffon and tulle.
  • the material has a mesh structure, and products made from it look light and airy;
  • The material is available in different colors and shades. Easy to color coordinate with the rest of your wardrobe. Models knitted from strips of different colors turn out to be beautiful and unusual;

A piece of thick elastic band 2-3.5 cm wide is prepared as a belt for a future new thing. The color of the base of the belt can be matched to the tone of the skirt, but even a white elastic ribbon under the tulle will be invisible. The elastic band can be replaced with a belt made of satin ribbon; its length is equal to the waist circumference plus an allowance of 0.5-1 m to tie a beautiful bow.

For this work you will need sharp tailor's scissors. The professional tool has a different shape and size - 11 or 12 inches, with large rings for easy grip with your fingers.

How to calculate the amount of fabric

For a short fluffy skirt for a girl 5-8 years old you will need 50 pcs. strips 20 cm wide and 50 cm long. The cut of the blanks is laid in 3-4 m of tulle, with a material width of 1.5 m.

If the fabric width is 3 m, the required quantity is divided in half. With increasing length and size, the number of stripes and their length increase. For a model with a train, some of the stripes will be 1.5 times longer.

The tutu skirt model primarily refers to elegant clothing. The combination of colors in the set should be festive and harmonious.

Table of the harmonious combination of colors of stripes in a skirt or colors of tutu and the top of the set:

Main color Additional colors
Blue White, yellow, orange, pink
Green "Ivory", shades of yellow, white
Citric Blue, cherry, white
Dark brown Lemon, blue, pink, white
Tomato Sand, mint, gray
Lilac Orange, yellow, olive, gray, white
Blue Blue, green, orange, white, gray
Turquoise Purple, fuchsia, cream, brown, white
Red Black, white, yellow

When going to the store to buy fabric, you need to imagine what kind of result you want to get in the end. The color of the skirt should match the rest of the outfit. The easiest way is to combine bright things with a white top, and only choose accessories in a color that is harmonious with the skirt.

DIY tulle tutu skirt without sewing

A DIY tutu skirt for a girl will require a minimum of materials:

  • medium-density tulle of a suitable color or different shades if the model is intended to be colored;
  • elastic band for a belt with a length of waist circumference minus 2 cm;
  • elastic thread, suitable color;
  • safety pins;
  • tailor's scissors.

When all the necessary materials are ready, the model has been selected, and the measurements have been taken, you can begin making the creation. All steps must be performed in a certain sequence, then you will not have to go back and redo incorrectly performed operations.

The sequence of making a tutu skirt without sewing:

  1. First, the strips are cut out - the main blanks for making the skirt.
  2. The elastic belt is secured with a safety pin, for example, to the narrow back of a chair.
  3. The blank strip is thrown over the elastic band. The ends of the strip are equalized below. Using an elastic band, the first strip of tulle is tied strictly under the elastic.
  4. A second piece of tulle is put on the elastic belt; similarly to the first, it is tied with the same elastic thread. The connection of the strips with each other resembles a “back needle” seam.
  5. When the last piece is tied, you can connect the ends of the elastic band together.
  6. The bottom of the skirt is trimmed with tailor's scissors.

Note: A tulle product with a bottom in which each side of the blank strip is cut at an angle looks impressive.

Stripes on a wide elastic band can be attached differently:

  1. A piece of tulle is placed over the prepared wide elastic band.
  2. The bottom of both halves is equalized.
  3. The strip is tied with a knot in such a way that a tight loop is formed, but the elastic is not deformed.
  4. A second knot is tied and pulled tightly under the first.
  5. The remaining strips are secured in the same way.
  6. The production of tutu is completed by trimming the bottom with scissors.

If the skirt is full, there is not much difference in how the stripes are attached. A series of tied knots at the waist are easily hidden behind a tulle “cloud”.

Tulle tutu skirt with train

A skirt with a long or short train looks very impressive; to make it you will need medium-hard tulle, an elastic band that can support the weight of the skirt, and a sewing machine with a straight stitch.

Step-by-step production:

  • Strips of length 60,80,100,120,140 cm are prepared from tulle 3 m wide in 4 layers.
  • A 60 cm long strip is the front part. 140 cm – rear panel. The rest are cut in half, respectively, rectangles are obtained with a length of 80, 100, 120 cm and a width of 150 cm. They are located in ascending order on the side parts of the product.

To sew a tutu skirt with a train, strips of tulle of different lengths are used.
  • The parts are sewn together with an overlapping seam using mono-thread or thin fishing line. In one of the seams, an unsewn area of 3 cm is left in the middle for threading the elastic.
  • At the bottom of both layers, the assembled parts of the skirt, a rigid satin ribbon or any other elastic finishing tape is sewn, for example, a crossbar with a beautiful finish 2.5-3 cm wide. This treatment will give the product a shape and serve as a decoration for the bottom of the full skirt.

Note: Bias tape is not the best option. It will complicate the processing of the skirt and will not be as impressive due to its small width when finished. Also a bad choice would be a soft satin ribbon, especially one sewn onto hard tulle.

  • The finished skirt is folded so that its top layer is shorter than the bottom layer by the width of the finishing strip. The fold is stitched to the width of the elastic.
  • Using a safety pin, an elastic band is threaded through the unstitched area of the seam, and the edges are firmly ground down using a sewing machine.

The skirt is ready for the young beauty to go out. The model is spectacular and can be combined with a stretch top and a full hairstyle.

DIY tutu skirt with big ruffles

A DIY tutu skirt will be the first elegant thing for a girl at the age of 2-3 years. To make a model for the little ones you will need a piece of organza 1.5x2 m.

The whole process consists of the following steps:

  1. The fabric is cut into five strips of 0.4x1.5 m.
  2. Pieces of material are ground together, all cuts are overcast.
  3. The skirt blank is bent in half. An elastic band is placed inside the fold with a knot tied at one end.
  4. The stitch is sewn in such a way that the elastic is inside a tight drawstring; a knot tied at the end will not allow the elastic to slip inside.
  5. The top fold is stitched along the entire length of the skirt, the fabric gradually moves relative to the elastic so that at the end there remains a free section of the base of the belt, sufficient for convenient stitching.
  6. The elastic band is connected and hidden in the drawstring.

A skirt is the best choice as an outfit for little ones. It holds its shape well and is an easy model to make.

Tutu skirt with satin ribbon

The tutu model for primary school age can be sewn with satin ribbon trim. The beautiful bottom will move with the child, attracting everyone's attention and giving a lot of positive emotions.

The skirt, sewn from fabric of the same color, is finished with a solid ribbon. If multi-colored stripes were used in production, the bottom is processed with multi-colored pieces of tape.

For the first option, a skirt with large frills is used. The tape is sewn to the outer layer or to both layers. A longer underskirt and a slightly shorter upper skirt look nice. The difference in length is achieved by different widths of ribbons or cuts.

Tutu without sewing from multi-colored stripes is decorated in this way:

  1. Ribbon blanks are prepared according to the number of multi-colored stripes;

Note: The edges of the ribbons are melted over a candle flame or cut using hot scissors.

  1. after leveling the bottom of the skirt, pieces of ribbon are sewn with an overlay seam to the narrow part of the skirt stripes;
  2. The edges of the ribbons remain open or are sewn inside out and turned inside out. Can be fastened by hand with a couple of stitches.

As a result of this processing, spectacular waves or rings of satin ribbon are obtained at the bottom. In dynamics, such a thing is even more beautiful.

Seamless tulle tutu skirt

It is better to sew a tutu for a young girl from tulle. It’s easy to cut, the main thing is to calculate everything correctly in advance. The pattern is a large circle, the diameter is equal to two lengths of the skirt plus the diameter of the waistline.

On sale you can find fabric 3 m wide; the pattern can be laid into this width without seams. If the fabric is very see-through, you can add a layer of lining to the product. The lining fabric should be the right color or give a translucent item an additional tint.

The belt at the waist can have an elastic band threaded through a drawstring made from the top layers and lining. To emphasize the thin waist, a duplicated wide belt is sewn along the top and a zipper is fastened.

Patchwork mesh skirt

A large mesh with a mesh size of 2 cm or more is suitable as the basis of the skirt. The flaps are cut from thin tulle 10-15 cm wide and 50-150 cm long, depending on the size of the future product.

Note: chiffon and thin organza are suitable for making. Synthetic materials are cut with hot scissors. With this preparation, the edge is melted, the processing is gentle, and the skirt is airy.

Stages of making an unusual skirt:

  1. The base of the skirt is cut out from the mesh. For ease of work, the workpiece is placed on a mannequin.
  2. Depending on the size of the cell and the desired effect, the stripes are threaded through all cells or through one.
  3. The strip is fixed when the center of the workpiece coincides with the cell, and a knot is tied.
  4. The belt of the product is made of strip fabric.

A patchwork skirt can be of different lengths: with a train or asymmetrical. Stripes of the same color or from a selection of nuances of the same color.

Complex tailoring option with lining

The tutu skirt looks like a real ballerina's with ruffled lining. You can sew a tutu with your own hands for going out for a young girl or a tall girl.

DIY tutu skirt for a girl: option with lining

The following materials are used to make the item:

  • The base-lining is 0.4 m thick silk. It’s good if the fabric is stretchy;
  • semi-rigid tulle from 3.5-5 m;
  • secret or regular zipper.

For the lining, a pattern is created - the upper part of a straight skirt. The circumference of the hips and waist is measured.

From the first girth value, the second is subtracted and divided in half, the sum S of darts is distributed as follows:

  • 0.5xS – side dart;
  • 0.3xS – dart of the front panel of the skirt;
  • 0.2xS – dart of the back panel of the skirt.

A rectangle with a height equal to the length of the lining and a side equal to the circumference of the hips is divided into two equal parts. Darts are built along the waist line. Using the resulting pattern, the lining fabric is cut, overcast and sewn. There is a zipper in the left side seam.

The tulle is cut into equal strips with a width of 20-30 cm. The top of the strips is gathered randomly, using a thread or folds, and adjusted, with the top cut open, in tiers onto the lining of the skirt. The top of the skirt is finished with a stitched double belt. The fastening at the waist is made with a welt loop and a button.

How to decorate a tutu skirt with your own hands

A DIY tutu skirt for a girl of primary school age is decorated in different ways:

  • Tutu, knitted from strips, has an interesting bottom, each strip is cut at an angle. The bottom is like a flower, delicate and airy. The waist is decorated with a beautifully tied ribbon belt.
  • A tulle skirt with a train looks impressive when placed on a string with a satin ribbon. The bottom is rigid and fits into beautiful tails. Translucent Rigilin merges with the satin structure of the satin.
  • A skirt with a frill can be made with filling. To do this, the fold of the fabric is located at the bottom of the product, and the sections are placed on the elastic waistband. The inside of the skirt is filled with artificial flowers, their petals or buboes.

  • Tutu on a satin ribbon is spectacular in itself, especially when the bottom consists of stitched rings of satin ribbon. To make it more original, you can make the bottom of different lengths - with a train or asymmetrical.
  • Seamless tulle skirt is delicate and romantic. All its beauty lies in the absence of unnecessary elements and a straight bottom line. A beautiful flowing fabric and delicate powdery color will only benefit from a different harmonious color of the petticoat showing through. You can tie a beautifully draped belt around your waist so that you don’t have to form the folds of the belt in a new way each time; they can be secured with a stitch on the sides or sewn together discreetly by hand.
  • A patchwork mesh skirt is a good base for different designs. By arranging stripes of different colors, you can get the effect of flames or rustling green foliage. This is an ideal choice for a dance performance, as are all tutu models.
  • The tutu is a good stylization for the image of a ballerina. Made in crisp white or powdered pink, complemented with ballet shoes, this is a self-sufficient item for the wardrobe of a growing young fashionista.

A tutu with frills of different colors will look different - a small rainbow, sparkling with joy and childish spontaneity:

By the way, the fashion for a magnificent look, without knowing it, was introduced by little schoolgirls, for whom such skirts were previously sewn. The tutu was considered a festive uniform for matinees and served its purpose well.

Increasingly, the idea of a magic dress is being played out in modern children's photo shoots. Little fashionistas under the age of one year are dressed in bright tutu skirts, creating a truly touching sight.

Outfit for a newborn princess

Sewing a tulle tutu skirt for a little girl is a great pleasure. The simplicity and maneuverability of the fabric, bright colors and miniature size of the product will give you a wonderful mood even at the stage of creating a masterpiece.

You don't have to be a seamstress to sew a skirt. Moreover, you don’t even need a sewing machine! Armed with simple tools, you can sew a wonderful new thing.

To sew a tutu for a girl with your own hands, you will need:

  • Tulle of three consonant colors. Red in the amount of 1 m is suitable, as well as two pieces of 50 cm of pink and white.
  • Scissors;
  • Thread to match the color of the fabric;
  • Needle;
  • Wide elastic band (from 2.5 cm).

A DIY tutu skirt for a girl does not involve sewing, but some manipulations with a needle will still be necessary. Step-by-step instructions on how to build a cute masterpiece:

You can alternate the colors of the stripes at your discretion. The “striping” effect or chaotic mixing of colors looks interesting.

Image of a young fairy

For a girl 5–10 years old, you can sew a skirt using the same principle. The main thing is to choose the right colors and decide on the length of the product.

The tutu will perfectly complement the New Year's snowflake costume or the image of the snow queen. A brighter skirt for other holidays also looks good. You can combine it with a corset or other outfits.

By the way, the low cost of tulle and the simplicity of the master class allow you to make several copies of a pack in just a few hours.

Adult version of the dress

If you want to shine at a holiday, you can make a tutu skirt with your own hands for an adult young lady. The principle remains the same. All you need is a petticoat to match the main color.

Skirt made of colorful ribbons

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. You should measure your waist circumference and decide on the length of the elastic.
  2. Next, sew the elastic into a ring and fix the resulting product at a convenient height.
  3. Tulle ribbons for an adult skirt should have a width of 10 cm. Their length is determined depending on the required length of the product. For convenience, strips of fabric are made twice as long and folded in half.
  4. Carefully tie the ribbons to the elastic band. The stripes should be tied in rows to track the fullness of the skirt. You can periodically try on the product so as not to turn from a cute fairy into a ballerina.
  5. The petticoat should be sewn from the same shade of fabric.
  6. If you don’t want to sew a petticoat, you can wear a tutu under leggings or leggings.

One-piece sun cut

If you sew an outfit not from ribbons, but according to the “sun” pattern, you will get a tulle skirt. The master class provides basic sewing skills.

The cost of a tulle circle skirt is considerable, so you should immediately decide how long the finished product will be. For a skirt about 50 cm long you will need five meters of fabric.

It is best to use a petticoat so that the tulle does not get caught on the tights. If the outfit consists of five or more layers, and it will be worn in the summer, then there will be no need for lining, like tights.

A standard pattern for a circle skirt on paper provides for the amount of fabric without taking into account gathers. If you need to make the product look fuller, it is recommended to double your waist size. The gathers will give the skirt the desired airy effect.

The skirt will look more elegant if its lower layers are several centimeters longer than the upper ones.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Fold the fabric in half. The result is a “sandwich” with two folds on one side and one fold and two edges on the other. This method will save material. However, such cutting produces two whole parts and two half parts. The halves should be sewn and placed under the whole ones.
  2. The half parts will be on the bottom and do not need to be assembled.
  3. Having folded the lower parts, you should fix them on the table and sweep them along the waist line.
  4. Next, manually grind off the allowances for the zipper and sew it in.
  5. The upper and lower layers of fabric are connected. On the upper ones, mark the position of the lightning and cut an entrance for it. The edges of this entrance are basted and sewn with a hidden seam.

To sew the lining, choose a suitable color of fabric and cut it half-length. The radius of the petticoat is determined by measuring the waist circumference and dividing it by three. There is room along the seam for a zipper.

To sew on the lining, fold it and the skirt inside out and stitch. To avoid sewing in a zipper, you can use an elastic band that is attached to the product from the inside.

DIY Tutu pack

The Tutu skirt is sewn as simply as a regular tutu. To create it, you should choose the hardest tulle. It will help the product keep its shape and give the skirt fullness. With some effort and imagination, you can get a product that will be difficult to distinguish from a salon one.

Step-by-step master class:

A tutu is a fun element of an image that is slowly but surely making its way into the lives of modern fashionistas. You can wear such a cute little thing with any outfit. The tutu will favorably decorate the slender figure of its owner, turning her into an elegant doll.

I think all the mothers of the world will agree, there is nothing more charming in the world than a baby in a tutu skirt. By the way, the tutu skirt, or tutu as it is also called, is a real find. After all, with its help you can make almost any costume for a girl for the New Year, birthday or matinee in kindergarten, etc. In general, it doesn’t matter on the eve of what holiday you decide to make a tutu skirt with your own hands, the main thing is that with the help of our selection of master classes you will surely cope with this task with ease.

I won’t focus too much on the choice of materials. You will need tulle, fortunately, nowadays the choice is simply huge. You can buy tulle in bobbins or in large rolls, of any color and different hardness. Plus the base on which the tulle will be “attached”. It can be a ribbon, elastic band or a knitted base - see the master classes below for more details.

How much tulle do you need for a tutu skirt?

Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to buy tulle in bobbins. But ordinary tulle can also be carefully cut into standard 15 cm strips. Watch the video on how to quickly and easily cut ordinary tulle for a TUTU tutu skirt - both with smooth and sharp edges.

How to make a tutu skirt from tulle master class

So, the first version of the skirt with the base as a ribbon. In this case, you will get an apron skirt. We cut the tulle into strips, their length should correspond to the desired length of the skirt multiplied by 2. Next, fold the strip in half and tie the ribbon as shown in the photo in points No. 7-9.

We continue to tie the ribbon with tulle until the skirt is completely formed. At the end, for beauty, you can cover the nodules with a cloth.

Or you can leave it as is.

For greater reliability of such a skirt, make “tacks” at the beginning and at the end. To do this, make knots on the base of the ribbon itself (at the beginning of photo No. 3 and at the end of No. 8), additionally tie the first and last tulle ribbon in half.

It turns out to be a beautiful tulle skirt.

The photo below shows a knot that can be used to secure the previous option. Those. you first thread the ends of the ribbon into the loop as shown in the instructions, then tighten the knot as shown in the photo below (you will only need to thread the ends of the ribbon again). Or you can use this knotting method as a DIY way to make a skirt. You tie loops on strips of tulle, which you simply put on the ribbon.

Although the previous options have a drawback: there is a possibility that the tape will come undone at the most inopportune moment. Therefore, it is better to use a wide elastic band. Its length should be equal to your daughter’s waist circumference minus 2-3 cm and plus a seam allowance. We sew the elastic band into a single ring, put it on a hanger, jar or box (this is necessary to make it more convenient to tie). We tie it in the same simple way, the main thing is to pay attention to the fact that you do not need to tighten the tulle too much (the elastic band should not be pinched).

In addition to a wide elastic band, a narrow one will also work. In addition, to make a full tutu skirt, you can tie two strips of tulle at a time.

Tulle can also be tied with a simple knot (twice). The main thing to remember is that the elastic band should not be overtightened. In the video, the process of tying such knots begins at 3:47.

The finished tutu skirt can be decorated with a bow.

Ribbon bows simply tied to strips of tulle look cute.

How to make a beautiful tutu skirt with your own hands

In addition to additional decor in the form of bows and flowers from ribbons, you can beautifully hem the bottom of a tutu skirt. The result is stunning, and not much work. True, in this case you will have to resort to the help of a sewing machine. Choose a ribbon and thread to match the tulle, and make the skirt in a way that is convenient for you. From the ribbon, cut strips corresponding to the size of the tulle and sew them on.

Important: you need to burn the edges of the cut pieces of ribbon so that they do not fray.

For more details, watch the video instructions:

Wrap the same ribbon around your belt nicely.

The result is a simply gorgeous tutu skirt.

Video instructions in Russian: tutu skirt with satin ribbons (working with ribbons from 4:30).

Plus, if you make a tutu skirt according to this master class: the bottom will turn out with full rings, and not with hemispheres.

The original hem of the skirt can be done faster. Simply cut small strips of tulle in contrasting colors and tie them around the edges of the ribbon on both sides, as shown in the photo below.

Speaking of edges, you can make them ragged or pointed - cut the strips at an angle. And pay attention, this master class demonstrates a new method of fastening using an elastic thread.

Plus, due to the different lengths of the stripes and different colors, after separating them we get a beautiful multi-tiered skirt.

For greater clarity on how to fix tulle strips using an elastic thread, watch the video (from 4 minutes).

In addition, to create a multi-tiered mesh skirt, you can tie an elastic band first in one color, then in another.

Or combine the stripes, as shown in the photo below.

Another way to make an interesting skirt is to add stripes of fabric to the tulle.

Actually, you can make a tutu skirt purely from strips of fabric.

Knitted tutu skirt

Finally, a few words about knitted bases for a tutu skirt. In particular, in some online store (for example, on Aliexpress) you can order a factory-made, crocheted elastic band “pipe” (it is also called a top trumpet - you can use it to make dresses from tulle). Or buy a smaller copy of it: an “elastic bandage”, this is the same as a tube top, just smaller in size. Actually, the photo below shows a narrow elastic band (bandage). Working with it is quite simple; you tie it using any of the methods presented above.

Moreover, you can only knit a couple of bottom rows so that there is a small belt on top (as shown above). Or you can fill all the rows - this will give you a very full tutu skirt.

But keep in mind: if you tie all this elastic, the skirt will turn out heavier. Therefore, it is better to further strengthen this foundation. To do this, insert 2 narrow elastic bands into the “loops” from the wrong side in a checkerboard pattern (as shown in the photo instructions below). In addition, this technique is clearly demonstrated in the video above with satin ribbons.

Length of the elastic = waist size divided by 1.5, better try it on a child; you may need a little longer.

In addition to rubber bands, this design can be supplemented with tape. Cut a long piece of ribbon (enough to go around your waist and for the ties). On one side, pin a pin to the ribbon and insert it into the loops through one. When you finish threading, straighten the length of the ribbons, trim the frayed edges and carefully burn them with a lighter. The result is a very full tutu skirt with an adjustable waistband.

Start threading the ribbon where you want the bow to appear.

Unfortunately, not everyone has the opportunity to buy such an elastic band for a tutu skirt. But don’t be in a hurry to get upset, you can crochet it yourself using stretch yarn.

For detailed instructions on how to knit an elastic belt/bandage, see the video:

Here is another good video, in Russian. It shows how to crochet elastic in different ways.

In addition, if you do not have the opportunity to purchase either ready-made elastic or stretch yarn, knit a belt from regular threads. In this case, not even a belt, but a strip equal to the waist volume. Sew buttons on it and you will have a wonderful Tutu tutu skirt.

By the way, using the same hook it is easy to decorate it with additional tulle bows.

I hope our selection of master classes on how to make a tutu skirt with your own hands helped you. In addition, I recommend watching another selection of master classes: “” - there are also decent options there.
