Soap homemade for aging skin

Homemade cosmetics recommends washing your face, neck and chest only with cool water (regardless of the time of year and temperature in the bathroom); in summer it is advisable to use cooler water. Wash your face, neck, front and back, as well as sides. Then it is advisable not to dry yourself with a towel, or, if you really need to dry, use blotting movements, and it is better not with towels, but with an old, old baby diaper or sheet, maybe flannelette (they are much softer). Or a paper towel. After showering/swimming, you should rinse your face with cool water. And for delicate skin, instead of clean water, you can use herbal infusions.

Folk cosmetics use oatmeal to wash the face and body:

grind oatmeal in a coffee grinder or grind oatmeal through a meat grinder (the degree of grinding is set individually, but not to the point of flour). Take a clean nylon or elastic sock or bag, pour crushed flakes into it, tie it so that it does not fall apart. Soak in water. Instead of soap, use a damp bag to wash your face and body, constantly moistening the bag with plenty of water. At the end of washing, wash with water or herbal decoction. Folk cosmetics allow you to use this product daily.

Homemade moisturizing facial soap:

This soap is suitable even for the most sensitive skin. It can be prepared from the following ingredients - 150 gr. soft, high-quality natural soap without fragrances. 15 ml cocoa or jojoba butter. 50 ml of strong infusion of chamomile. 10 ml almond oil. 5 ml of honey (if you are not allergic to honey). 8 drops rosewood or lavender essential oil. Grate the soap, melt in a water bath, add cocoa butter, almond oil, honey, chamomile infusion, mix everything thoroughly and let cool. Add essential oils. Pour the mixture into molds and leave overnight in a cool place to harden.

This is the easiest way to make handmade soap at home. It is suitable for those beginners who are just starting to put the basics of soap making into practice. For the recipe, you need to purchase a small piece of baby soap in the store, which is enriched at home with additional beneficial additives.

You will also need packaging: craft bags, plastic bags, boxes with a plastic window, cardboard chests or wrapping paper. You can do many of these things yourself.

Main ingredients:

  • Baby soap (Nevskaya cosmetics, Agusha);
  • vegetable oils;
  • coffee, tea, milk, herbal infusion or water;

  • esters (mint, tangerine, fir, rosehip, peach, grape seed, sea buckthorn or orange);
  • tincture of propolis or calendula.

Additional Ingredients:

  • coffee powder;
  • rolled oats;
  • dried citrus peels;
  • flower petals;
  • crushed tea leaves;
  • or E;
  • cosmetic clay;
  • vegetable dyes (spinach or parsley juice).

To start making soap, you need to choose from a list of additives that are beneficial for your skin type or depending on your goal. For example, handmade soap with dried crushed citrus fruits has the properties of a scrub (it cleanses the skin well of impurities and dead skin cells).

Soap making technology:

  • rub baby soap on a fine grater;
  • Add 1 table to the soap shavings. L. Oils (you can use, for example, olive or castor) and 150 ml of herbal infusion, milk, tea, coffee or water;

Why is it better to cook from a soap base?

Recipes for handmade soap from a soap base are simple and understandable even for beginners who are just starting to take their first steps in the art of soap making.

The method consists of three stages:

  • melting the base in the microwave or on the stove;
  • adding useful additives, fragrances and dyes (oils, herbs, rubber toys for children or decorative ornaments);
  • pouring into molds (this can be done in various creative ways, including creating soap with colored layers).

Advantages of soap making from base:

  1. Potentially hazardous substances such as caustic soda (caustic sodium) are not used.
  2. It has wide possibilities (allows you to make soap for the whole family, even for children).

Disadvantages of soap making from base:

  1. There is no way to control the quality of the base (not everyone knows exactly which of them is the safest for health, since some bases contain emulsifiers and unnatural ingredients, in particular: propylene glycol).
  2. The second drawback follows from the first: if you make soap from a bad base, you can later be disappointed in it, including during the soap-making process.

Instructions for making handmade peach soap with photos.

1. Cut the soap base into pieces and place them in a heatproof bowl in the microwave or in a water bath. The second method is preferable, as it allows you to control the melting process and prevent the base from overheating, or worse, from boiling.

2. Remove the soap base from the water bath, add sequentially:

  • peach kernel oil;
  • ether or fragrance;
  • yellow dye, 2 drops;
  • red dye, 2 drops;
  • (optional) anything from the list of additional ingredients, 1 tsp.

3. Mix the mixture well and pour into molds (if bubbles appear on the surface of the filling, spray them with alcohol or pierce them with a toothpick).

4. After 2 hours, shake the finished soap out of the molds and use it. Or dry it for 24 hours and wrap it (this will require packaging, such as plastic).

Cold process soap making

Making soap this way requires great care and is not suitable for beginners. You will have to make soap from scratch, which means working with chemicals, in particular caustic soda (caustic sodium). When water and alkali combine, a reaction occurs, resulting in the release of toxic water vapor in large quantities.

To protect yourself from it, you must wear goggles and a respirator on your face, gloves on your hands, a cap on your hair, and a long-sleeved robe on top of your clothes.

To make handmade cold process soap, you need tools, utensils and equipment:

  • scales for measuring alkali with an accuracy of 0.01 g or 0.1 g;
  • oil scales accurate to 1 g;
  • infrared thermometer;
  • blender;
  • dishes (glass jar, two glass and stainless steel saucepans, spoon, silicone molds);
  • small strainer (not metal);
  • ph strips (to determine the readiness of soap). They are applied to the surface of the soap, which is pre-moistened with water and washed (norm ph = 8 - 10);
  • plastic film to cover the work table;
  • packaging and parchment.

Soap making is carried out indoors behind a closed door, with the windows open and the hood turned on. The utensils and tools on the list should never be used for other purposes (for cooking). After work, the film is thrown away from the table, and the surfaces are wiped with vinegar and washed with water.

Handmade soap recipe with clay for oily and problem skin

Such a useful additive as white clay dries out the skin, tightens pores, and lightens age spots. The properties of black clay are cleansing dermal cells of toxins and other impurities, improving blood microcirculation and intracellular metabolic processes.

  • 175 g water (not hard);
  • 69.76 g of alkali (caustic soda);
  • base oils (200 g palm, 150 g coconut, 50 g castor and 100 g olive);
  • 1 table each. l. black and white clay;
  • titanium dioxide and black pigment dye;
  • superfat - 8% by weight of all base oils.

Superfat is free oils: wheat germ, avocado, almond, apricot kernels, shea. Without them, handmade soap dries out the skin greatly, which makes this product only safe (due to its naturalness), but not useful for complete skin care.

In our recipe, superfat (oil of choice) = 500 x 8% or 40 g.

Instructions, or how to make cold process soap:

First stage.

  1. Measure 69.76 g of lye and 175 g of water from the refrigerator on the scale (in different plastic or glass containers).
  2. Pour the water into a heatproof saucepan and place in the sink.
  3. Slowly add the lye and stir for 1 - 2 minutes.
  4. Wait until the solution cools and becomes clear.

Second phase.

  1. Measure the base oils into one container and in the quantities given in the recipe.
  2. Heat them in a water bath to a temperature of 36 - 50 C.
  3. Before mixing oils with an alkaline solution, their temperatures must be the same.
  4. Stir the mixture of lye and oils with a spoon until thick and cloudy. Then beat with a mixer for a minute. Repeat hand stirring and whisking several times (until drops of soap mixture leave marks on the mixer).

Third stage.

In all other recipes, additional ingredients are added at this stage, including dyes.

  1. Divide the liquid soap into two equal parts, add white clay and titanium dioxide to one of them, and black clay and pigment dye to the other. Mix each part using a blender.
  2. Pour them into molds in two layers (dark, light). Cover with a lid and wrap.

After 24 hours the soap will become hard. The pieces are shaken out of the molds, left on the table for two days, and then wrapped in parchment paper for ripening (for 4 weeks).

Cooking hot

The hot method of soap making at home is similar to the cold method, except for the last stage. For example, let's prepare chocolate milk soap, which is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive ones.

Milk softens the skin and saturates it with moisture, and cocoa nourishes it with vitamins and other beneficial substances necessary to maintain youthful skin.

To make chocolate milk soap, you need the same tools, safety equipment, and utensils as cold process soap making.

  • 190 g milk;
  • 73.96 g caustic soda;
  • base oils (20 g cocoa, 50 g castor, 80 g sunflower, 100 g coconut, 200 g palm and 50 g palm kernel);
  • 1 ½ table. l. cocoa powder;
  • superfat (shea butter) - 2% + 6% (10 g before + 30 g after the bath).

Instructions, or how to make soap using the hot method:

  1. At the first stage, the alkali is slowly poured into the liquid (in our recipe it is milk). But, before doing this, part of the milk (100 g) is frozen in the freezer (90 g is left for the second stage, where the milk must be heated and slowly added to the soap mixture).
  2. Let us remind you that at the second stage of soap making we measure out the base oils and heat them in a water bath. Then mix with an alkaline solution (remembering that the temperatures of the oils and alkali should be the same). Next, the process of stirring and beating the mixture with a blender begins until a trace appears. In this interval, add warm milk, and also add 10 g of shea butter.
  3. Now the mixture should stand in a water bath and boil for 2 hours with the top closed (first cover the pan with the mixture with a towel, and then cover it with a lid). The surfaces of the boiling water and the soap mixture should be at the same level.
  4. Every half hour (4 times) you need to open the pan and stir the liquid soap.
  5. After two hours of boiling, remove the soap from the bath, add cocoa powder and 30 g of superfat (after melting). Stir. Pour into silicone molds. After 24 hours the soap can be used.

Based on the key knowledge of soap making, you can implement thousands of invented recipes at home. Online stores will have all the ingredients to help you get started. And beautiful packaging will help transform the creation and use the soap as an expensive gift, since handmade work is very highly valued these days.

Recently, trends in the modern beauty industry have gravitated towards naturalness and the revival of good old traditions. In particular, one can increasingly hear the opinion that laundry soap for the face is a real salvation from such serious problems as acne, wrinkles and oiliness. They are usually the most difficult to deal with, and judging by the reviews, this unique product can, if used correctly, get rid of these scourges. How dangerous is this and is it worth listening to such advice?

Chemical composition

Why does regularly washing your face with laundry soap eliminate acne, oily shine, and clean pores? The answer to this question must be sought in its chemical composition.

  • Animal fats

Animal fats are used in the production of this soap. They ensure normal functioning of skin cells. They form a durable film on the surface of the face that has protective properties (reflects attacks in the form of ultraviolet radiation). They are a real salvation for dry, damaged, thin skin.

But for oily skin types, they are not very useful, as they can further clog the pores with sebaceous plugs and provoke the appearance of an unhealthy shine on the face.

  • Sodium

Granular sodium is a caustic and alkaline chemical element. It causes undoubted harm to the skin, destroying the structure of cells. It may become dull, gray, and thin. But don’t panic and immediately stop using soap: this effect is observed only with its constant use in large quantities.

  • Water

Water is a required ingredient. It effectively moisturizes and neutralizes harmful components (the same as alkalis) in the composition of this product. Minimizes their aggressive action.

  • Kaolin

Unlike old, Soviet soap, modern household soap manufacturers add kaolin, which softens the effect of alkalis. This is white (porcelain) clay, which restores damage, promotes rapid tissue regeneration, moisturizes, and controls the amount of secretions from the sebaceous glands. Its beneficial cosmetic properties can be listed endlessly. Please remember that this substance is not present in all varieties of the product.

  • Fatty acid

Fatty acids are excellent antioxidants with pronounced regenerating properties. They contribute to the rapid healing of wounds. They are also responsible for cell renewal, which ultimately leads to rejuvenation and smoothing of wrinkles.

  • Alkalis

But alkaline compounds destroy the structure of cells, and it is because of them that an avalanche of criticism falls on laundry soap as a cosmetic product. But in order to dry out and ruin your facial skin, you need a lot of alkali. And here their share is minimal. It is much better to see the benefits in them: they expand the pores, opening the way for nutrients (fatty acids, kaolin, etc.), performing a transport function.

The harmful effects of alkalis can be neutralized if, after using household soap, you rinse with an infusion of herbs, which acts in the opposite direction - to close pores and restore damaged cell structures.

A very important point, which often becomes a significant disadvantage of laundry soap. Because of it, the skin of the face after washing and masks can become very dry, microcracks can appear and even form - this is a high pH level. This indicator should be within 7 (this is the maximum). The best numbers: pH = 5 or 6. And in household soap it sometimes reaches critical levels of 11 and even 12.

Each ingredient performs a number of different functions. Together they all have a comprehensive antibacterial and disinfectant effect. This leads to the results that many admire when regularly using this product for washing.

Through the pages of history. It turns out that laundry soap is French in its true origin. It was first produced in the Middle Ages in Marseille. True, its main ingredient at that time was olive oil: Louis XIV prohibited the use of animal fats in its composition.

Beneficial features

Due to its chemical composition, the benefits of laundry soap are undeniable with regular and correct use:

  • relieves, because it disinfects, stopping the spread of inflammation;
  • helps against wrinkles, provided they are not too deep;
  • lightens stretch marks, scars and scars;
  • is an effective peeling agent for facial cleansing, because it opens the pores and removes all organic dirt from them;
  • heals any damage to the skin;
  • used for oily skin to eliminate;
  • moisturizes;
  • used for pigment spots.

Do not doubt the effectiveness of this soap - see for yourself by learning how to use it as a cosmetic product.

Medicinal properties. In folk medicine, it is used as a medicine for external use for swelling, wounds, cuts, ulcers, dandruff, runny nose, fungal infections, bruises, contusions, corns, burns and even... gynecological diseases (for example, thrush).

Possible harm

When deciding to use laundry soap for facial care, evaluate the possible harm it can have on the skin. It manifests itself in two cases: if contraindications are not taken into account and if you get too carried away with it.

Contraindications

Do not use this product if you have the following problems:

  • dry, dehydrated, dehydrated skin;
  • very sensitive, thin skin;
  • tendency to allergies;
  • rosacea;
  • serious dermatological diseases (consultation with a specialist is required).

Using it without taking these contraindications into account can worsen the condition of already painful skin.

Side effects

Regular use of laundry soap does not mean that you need to wash your face with it 3-4 times daily. Each skin type has its own recommendations regarding the frequency of its use.

Abuse of this product can lead to dire consequences, among which the most common are:

  • dehydration;
  • numerous peelings;
  • cracks;
  • suppuration of inflammation and rashes;
  • irritation;
  • allergic reaction in the form of rash and itching;
  • rosacea mesh;
  • exacerbation of dermatological diseases.

To avoid such unpleasant surprises, listen to the advice of experts and do not ignore contraindications.

This is interesting! Military doctors and emergency workers know that in emergency situations, laundry soap can replace surgical gloves. They just wash their hands with it and leave it to dry.

Features of application

The benefits of a product are largely determined by how well it is used. Using it like a regular cosmetic soap is incorrect and leads to unpleasant side effects. Therefore, try to adhere to the following simple rules.

  1. It is better to carry out the procedure an hour before bedtime, during the evening.
  2. Moisturize your previously cleansed face.
  3. Lather your palms generously so that foam forms on them.
  4. Gently rub over face, avoiding the area around the eyes and lips.
  5. Rinse off with plenty of water.
  6. There is no need to wipe off so that the water softens the aggressive effect of alkalis and sodium.
  7. After 20 minutes, apply nourishing or moisturizing cream.
  8. If the problem is local (a couple of pimples or a pigment spot), the foam is applied to this area in a targeted manner for 5-7 minutes, and then removed with a damp cotton pad.
  9. It is recommended to wash your face a couple of times a week, as more frequent use will become addictive and the sebaceous glands will begin to produce twice as much secretion.
  10. After a couple of months you need to take a break for 3-4 weeks.
  11. If irritation begins after the procedure, repeating it is not recommended.

The effectiveness of laundry soap will be partially determined by the manufacturer and type, so you still need to know how to choose it.
