Manicure like broken glass. Actual nail design "broken glass" with video and photo

Nail design, reminiscent of glass fragments, or, as it is called in another way, “broken glass”, has become one of the most fashionable and popular trends in 2019, and continues to be very popular. This manicure looks especially advantageous in the summer - it shimmers very beautifully under the sun's rays. Thanks to this, such a nail design cannot go unnoticed. In addition to the fact that glass manicure is unrealistically beautiful, it is also unique. Its pattern is unique, and you will not be able to find two completely identical patterns.

Such a manicure resembles the facets of a diamond, which shimmer with all colors and turn your nails into a beautiful picture.

Broken glass manicure: design features

The technique of creating a “broken glass” manicure consists in applying holographic pieces of foil, mother-of-pearl or mirror polyethylene to the nail plate. Thanks to the rich color range of nail cellophane, you can realize all your romantic and fantastic ideas.

The shimmering effect on nails designed in this way is obtained due to the reflection of light and sunlight on the material. The design resembles kaleidoscope patterns, which fans of Fantasy style will especially appreciate.

Various uses of material

It can be applied to the entire area of the nail - then the coating will be perfectly smooth and mirror.

If the cellophane is placed in layers, then colorful overflows will be obtained.

You can emphasize the design of the nails with the help of minor accents, placing separate "shards".

The popularity of this type of manicure is also explained by the fact that there are no age categories for it. This design will decorate the nails of both very young girls and mature ladies.

The next advantage of glass manicure is that there is no need to repeat patterns and use stencils. Some girls do not cover their nails with colored varnish at all. They simply apply a colorless varnish and then apply a hologram. It turns out an original and unobtrusive version of the design.

If you do not have holographic foil, then it is quite possible to replace it with a material such as colored mica. Since it is sold ready-made and does not need to be cut, creating such a manicure is even easier.

Today, in specialized stores, you can easily buy holographic stickers, thanks to which the desired result is achieved very quickly and easily. If, for some reason, you cannot purchase the necessary material, then we recommend that you use the mica remaining from the flower bouquet, irregularly shaped rhinestones or a chocolate wrapper.

Shiny pieces will look pretty nice if the base is a varnish of deep shades. Especially relevant this season will be cherry, purple and dark blue.

So that your manicure, having its own unique zest, in general, looks concise, you can only create “broken glass” on some nails, and simply paint the rest with plain varnish.

Naturally, we cannot but recall the gentle and romantic version using a colorless coating or pastel-colored varnishes, on top of which foil pieces are stacked in a chaotic manner.

Not only the color of the varnish can be different, but also the shape of the pieces. They can be made in the form of squares, diamonds, triangles. They can be both small and large in size.

The glass design goes well with various other types of manicure. This is especially true of the duet with French.

Alternatively, you can create a traditional French manicure, and decorate two nails (usually the index and ring nails) with fragments that match the main color in shade.

Necessary materials

The effect of broken glass is created using multi-colored mica, foil and shiny films. The classic version is a thin translucent iridescent film attached with a sticky layer of gel polish. It is sold both in the form of a thin film, which must be cut independently, and already cut. Its iridescent iridescence looks great both on light substrates and on dark gel polishes.

Broken glass manicure technique at home

Do you want to design your own nails with the effect of broken fragments? We will try to help you with this with our advice. First of all, you need to purchase special material in the store: foil, holographic polyethylene. You can buy foil with a 3D effect, or you can use the one in which chocolate bars are wrapped.

For work you need:

  • Colorless base;
  • Gel polish (any color);
  • Stickers or foil;
  • Top coat;
  • Tweezers, thin brush.

First of all, before you start creating a nail design, you should prepare them for this procedure. To do this, do the following: remove the old coating, cut off the cuticle, use a nail file to give the nails the correct shape.

Prepare decorative elements: if you bought them in the form of plates, cut them into pieces of the desired size and shape.

Decoration of nail plates

Apply a base coat on your nails.

After that, cover all nails with clear or colored gel polish.

Do not wait until the varnish dries, but with the help of tweezers, lay the cut pieces on your nails in random order.

Now use the top coat. It needs drying. Then remove the sticky layer.

That's all. Your original glass manicure is ready!

And here are some more options:

Broken glass manicure - option 1

In this case, to get the effect of broken glass, a shiny foil is used to match the background gel polish.

The foil can be laid out not randomly, but to create a design from large fragments to small ones: large pieces of glass are placed on the ring finger, and on the neighboring ones they begin to decrease to the smallest fragments.

The technique for creating a “broken glass” design is quite simple, it is done as follows:

Nails are being prepared for gel polish. We apply a base layer on the nail plates and dry it in a lamp.

We cover with colored gel polish, preferably in two layers. Each layer polymerizes in a lamp. Please note that gel polish must have a dispersion layer.

Uncut foil should be cut in advance. Now, using a sticky layer of gel polish, we attach it in random order, smooth it around the edges. A little can be dried in the lamp.

To avoid unevenness, the final top should be applied in two layers. Dry the top in a lamp, and then remove the sticky layer (if any).

Broken glass manicure - option 2

This option is performed in light shades using a special thin film that creates a glass effect.

In principle, this method is not very different from the previous one. The film is glued in the same way, only it is much more convenient to work with it than with foil. You can diversify the design with white chaotic lines that will add the effect of broken fragments. Pieces of foil can also be traced in the same way, or you can simply create a broken pattern on top of it. On the ring finger in the center of the nail, put one piece and complement it with rhinestones, attaching them to a transparent top. This will help diversify your design.

This design is also done using ordinary varnish. Only in this case, while the varnish is not yet dry, it will be necessary to quickly spread out the pieces of the film and cover them with top varnish. You should also be very careful when attaching the film, otherwise you will damage the varnish layer that is under it.

Glass design on gel polish

If you are more accustomed to painting your nails with gel polish, then you can perform this type of manicure as follows:

Remove cuticles and trim nails.

Prepare all the tools necessary for shellac manicure and cut the film into small pieces. These pieces should be different sizes. Fold the cut film in a pile, so it will be easier for you to pick it up with a brush or tweezers.

If you decide to replace the foil with dry mica, then choose the appropriate tone for the gel polish. For example, green shellac is suitable for emerald-colored mica. "Broken glass" on a light background looks gentle, but not expressive. More interesting variations are obtained by combining holography with dark colors up to dark blue and black.

First, you should walk on the nail plates with a buff, then degrease and treat with a primer.

We apply the base and seal the ends.

Dry the nails in a UV or LED lamp.

Apply and dry 1 layer of colored gel, then repeat the procedure. Apply a very light gel in 3 layers.

The top coat is applied to the nails in a thin layer. No need to dry.

With a thin brush dipped in the top, hook a piece of foil or mica and place it on the nail.

The final stage is coating with a finishing agent, followed by drying in a lamp.

We draw your attention to the fact that the pieces of the film must be recessed into the base layer. Its protrusion above the surface of the nails is not allowed. The main rule of glass manicure is ideally smooth and even nail plates.

For lovers of everything colorful and bright, a design created using red, dark blue, rich pink or burgundy shades will do. One has only to show a little creativity, and you can get an unusual manicure that will enjoy the special attention of others.

Broken glass design for different occasions

If you are going on a first date and want to show a man your energy and sexual potential, we advise you to choose a combination of black and red. Broken fragments on such nails will help enhance the image of the fatal seductress.

When attending a party, choose "glasses" according to the tone of the varnish and the direction of the event. Creating the image of a fatal temptress, we recommend putting pieces of foil on a chocolate or dark green base. Paint the nail plates with dark varnish, and then with a transparent fixer. Without waiting for it to dry, place a few pieces of foil on top.

For those who have a moderate temperament and young girls, it is better to choose pale variations. Lay out the prepared material in random order and secure with a transparent agent.

There is another way to emphasize the tenderness of the image. To do this, the nails must be painted with spots of different shades, mixing them with white inserts. Leave small gaps between foil triangles.

Using the geometric shapes of the stickers, you can create a beautiful stained glass effect on short nails. The image will turn out mysterious and mysterious.

Variations of glass nail design

Broken glass manicure, like any other, has a huge number of different variations.

Those who decide to try applying this elegant coating on their nails are offered a wide variety of foil shades and holographic stickers made from a special mirror cellophane. These materials are designed specifically for this type of manicure.

They come in a wide variety of colors and shades, making it possible to create many different variations.

One of the most winning options are transparent holographic "glasses" located on a black background. The three-dimensional depth and magnificence of this design is simply amazing.

Also beautiful is the combination of deep juicy shades of the base varnish and lighter foil or cellophane, for example, chocolate with hazelnut gold, marsala with rosewood, dark blue with bright blue, etc.

The manicure looks original when only on a few nails (most often it is the middle and ring fingers) an imitation of pieces of broken glass is created, and gel polish or regular polish is simply applied to all the rest.

An incredible effect is created by contrasting combinations: golden, bright yellow, indigo, emerald, fiery red and other colors in a holographic design against a black background.

A more delicate version of the design will not be deprived of the attention of others, when the nail is covered only with a transparent coating, and “glass” pieces are laid on top. A monochromatic coating looks very interesting if you place pieces of material imitating glass of different colors on it.

Stylists advise to beat not only colors, but also the shape. They suggest using in their work pieces of cellophane and foil of regular and irregular shapes, large and small. They can also be laid both in a strict sequence (a clear ornament is obtained), and in an arbitrary, chaotic order.

French and "broken glass"

Although “broken glass” is a trend in its own right, it also pairs well with other designs that are classics of the genre.

If you like it when eyes are drawn to your appearance, then we advise you to combine “broken glass” with a jacket.

In this case, you can get many options. First of all, you can create a glass manicure on one or two nails, and on all the rest, a traditional jacket. But all nails must match in color.

You can also cover the smile line with “fragments”, expanding it a little.

And finally, you can combine the two previous options into one. To do this, you need to create a traditional smile on several nails, and lay out the rest with pieces of cellophane or foil.

"Broken glass" and moon manicure

The glass trend also goes well with trendy moon manicure. The principle of its use is almost no different from the combination with a classic jacket.

At your request, you can use the “shards” to highlight the root hole, or you can focus only on individual nails. The main coating, in this case, should be monophonic.

The following option looks very original: the root part is left unpainted, it is covered only with colorless varnish, and fragments of broken glass are laid out on the rest of the surface of the nail plates. This design will be especially beautiful if it is made with shellac. He will be able to hold out for two to three, and maybe four weeks, thanks to his heavy-duty coating. The regrown transparent hole in this case will be almost invisible.

Not every manicure manages to maintain popularity during all the seasons of the year that lifted it to the peak of popularity. However, images in the style of Shattered Glass Nails (nails of 2016 “broken glass”, “crystal manicure”), which first thundered last winter of 2016 on South Korean Instagram, have only been gaining popularity since then. “Mirror Shards” are embodied in all kinds of coatings and design elements, intertwining with classic manicure techniques and giving birth to new ones.

Why are iridescent nails so attractive to ladies all over the world? We will tell you about all this today.

On what form of nails the design "Broken glass" looks better.

This type of manicure decoration is suitable for any shape of nails (both classic oval and stiletto nails). Equally elegant images in the style of a broken stained glass look on both long and short nails.

Manicure with this decor in any design does not look overloaded or excessive. Even made on all fingers of both hands, skillfully played with the color of “glass” and the color of the base (substrate), “Broken Glass” retains sophistication and airiness, giving the fingers the look of jewels shimmering under the rays of the sun.

Nails with "Broken Glass" in any style of execution can become an independent decoration of the image, catchy, unique, incredibly spectacular. It is thanks to the uniqueness of each manicure that Shattered Glass Nails have become a favorite outfit for the fingers of girls who prefer the sparkling facets of diamonds. And like every gem, the Broken Glass manicure has spawned many variations on nails. Let's dwell on the most popular and trendy ones.

What techniques for creating a broken glass manicure exist.

As you know, any mono-manicure looks much more expressive when the texture features of the coating allow the color to look deeper, richer, catch light and flash with rich flashes of colors. Thanks to holographic fragments of “broken glass”, lacquer, gel polish and acrylic images acquire a special expressiveness and attractiveness. This year, tandems of holographic fragments on a black background (imitation of the starry sky), deep blue with turquoise and indigo (variations on the theme of tropical lagoons), marsala and tea rose, golden walnut and rich chocolate (oriental theme) are especially popular. Broken multi-colored stained-glass windows on a black background are also popular, creating an association with dew, a scattering of iridescent diamonds, which looks especially impressive in evening dresses.

The theme of innocence, flirting, naturalness and naturalness also found its disclosure in Broken Glass manicures. Nude nails and one-color glass holography have become a new interpretation of elegance (when imitation glass particles are placed on a transparent coating or on gel polish, acrylic or regular polish, the color as close as possible to the natural color of a natural nail). In contrast to airiness and simplicity, nails-bends look sensually and in the form of sultry labuten-nails, complementing the image of a femme fatale with flashes of diamond sparks.

What options for “broken glass” are appropriate to decorate any lacquer.

Broken glass (Shattered Glass Nails) on nails exist in three classic variations: as an accent (on one or more fingers) and as a mono-manicure. The last manicure masters can expressively present in the form of a pattern-glass, glass-placer of uneven-sized “droplets”, filigree-fitted pieces with micro-gaps (so that any design after some time can be quickly modernized by painting over the voids with a color coating and turning the nail design with “ Broken glass" in the style of medieval stained glass). With the help of glass fragments on natural nails, it is possible to create the illusion of a crystal manicure (a technique that is most expressively embodied with the help of specially made tips), or even to give a simple mono-manicure a three-dimensionality (creating stiletto nails or variations on the theme of an aquarium manicure).

What age is this manicure suitable for?

Every year, French and moon manicures become the undisputed leaders of the top lists of popular designs - universal, ageless designs. They succumbed to the onslaught of Shattered Glass. The French classic played in a new way when the smile line began to shimmer with holographic particles of “glass” or creatively alternating nails with a smile and nails completely strewn with broken particles. The Hollywood nail hit gained special expressiveness when the basal hole visually made the fingers longer and more fragile (being decorated with holographic “glass” crumbs).

An inverted moon (an unpainted hole and the main part of the nail completely dotted with “broken glass”) began to appear especially often in the performance of shellac coating. This option allowed not only to ensure maximum strength of the design (and eliminated the foil particles sticking out through the coating layer), but also slightly delay the design correction due to the transparency of the hole (visually hiding the growing part of the nail).

Such versatility in every sense of the word allowed the “broken glass” manicure to conquer all ages, finding an appropriate and interesting embodiment in the images of both young ladies and already established ladies, fit into everyday looks, and also find its most expressive embodiment for going out. "on the occasion" and an image for the holiday. How did such a seemingly simple manicure (and seemingly so complicated in execution) manage to do it? The secret lies in the design technology itself. As we noted above, the most viable embodiment of stained glass manicure is gel polish manicure. At the same time, the technique itself is so easy, fast and simple that even a novice who is just mastering resistant coatings can create “broken glass” at home.

How to make a design "Broken glass" on the nails?

As with any look that draws attention to the hands as much as possible, careful preliminary preparation will be required (degreasing and applying a primer with a sticky layer, but without hyperacidity). The secret of the durability and durability of this design lies in the application of the first color layer as thin and uniform as possible, the second with drying in two stages. The first one - lasting a minute - will allow you to start the process of setting with the first layer, leveling the coating (self-leveling and uniformity of the final color layer). Then, pre-cut pieces, cut minx stickers, gold or silver foil or special holographic cellophane, mica are applied to the still sticky and under-dried second layer. And the completion is simple - dry it, cover it with a top, dry it and complete the picture by applying care (oil or cream to the cuticle or periungual skin).

The beauty of this design is that in any case it will turn out and succeed, because even in the seeming chaos and confusion, your author's interpretation of the image of “broken glass” is created, whose pieces will flare up at one angle or another or the fall of light into bewitching kaleidoscopic images!

With all the description of the beauty of broken glass design, it will be hard to believe that such a manicure has no flaws. But this is true. The only rejection of such a design can only be the personal preference of each woman.

How to create a broken glass design

To create pieces of broken glass on the nails, the following materials are used:

  • Foil
  • Holographic cellophane
  • Mica
  • Special film
  • Special stickers

All these materials can be purchased in specialized stores. Below is a plan on how to recreate a broken glass manicure step by step.

Step 1

The initial stage of creation does not differ from that of a conventional manicure. First, you need to prepare your fingers and nails - give the desired shape with a file, carefully trim the cuticle and polish the surface of the nail plate. The surface of the nail must be flat for a smooth and even application of the varnish. Next - degrease the nail plate. The workspace is ready. You can proceed to the direct design.

Step 2

First you need to apply a base coat and dry it in an ultraviolet lamp.

Step 3

Apply one thin even layer of varnish, the color of which will serve as a background. Dry the first layer. Next, you need to apply a second layer. It can be applied as thin or slightly thicker. At the discretion of. It is not necessary to dry the second layer of the background coat completely. Leave a sticky surface.

Step 4

Carefully transfer the pre-prepared mica or foil cut into small pieces to the surface of the nail plate. To do this, use a wooden manicure stick or a toothpick.

Step 5

After distributing the shiny elements in the right order, apply the top and dry the varnish completely.

Step 6

The completion of the process is the application of cosmetic oil and moisturizer. Ready. You can admire the original design of your favorite nails.

Variations of steps 4 and 5 are possible. It is possible to distribute pieces of foil or cellophane not on top of the second background layer, but on top of the top, so you will need to apply a second layer of top coat to secure the design. This trial scheme is presented for the execution of shellac. It is also possible to make a crystal manicure using ordinary varnishes. The result will be just as amazing.

Summarize

Glitter pieces can be used in any quantity and size. You can distribute them over the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe nail or in any specific part. You can also decorate all the fingers with broken glass or select only one of them. Experienced craftsmen recommend using pieces of different sizes in the design. Those that are more placed in the center of the nail plate, and small ones - to distribute along the edges. This will allow you to achieve additional volume with a 3D effect.

And so, a little endurance and patience, seasoned with inspiration from the photographs you see, will help you create an unusually beautiful nail design. For more ideas and tips on creating the broken glass effect, check out this video and photo collection.

How much effort girls put in to make their nails always look perfect, because a beautiful manicure is the key to an impeccable image. And how difficult it is in our time, among the huge variety of new products and fashion trends, to choose which design you will go with today. Let's learn together with you how to make a very fashionable and unusual design that will definitely not go unnoticed, it is called the "broken glass effect". If you look at the photos, you will certainly want to do it too, the nails that look like precious stones shimmer very beautifully in the light!

What you need for the effect of "broken glass"

To make such a manicure with high quality, you will need a special holographic foil, which can be bought at a nail store. We will cut the foil into pieces that will become an imitation of glass. In return, you can purchase special mica, which is sold ready-made and you do not have to painstakingly cut into small pieces, and it is also of different colors and you can choose any shade. If you want not glass, but mirror fragments on your nails, then you can cut the stickers into pieces, which are used to make a mirror manicure, the effect will also be amazing. Of course, you will also need a gel polish manicure kit, which we have repeatedly discussed at.

How to make a "broken glass" design with gel polish

1. Of course, none of the most mind-blowing designs will look cool if the nails are unkempt. Therefore, the first thing we do is deal with the cuticle, file the nails and generally do all the usual routine procedures for hygienic manicure. Do it regularly anyway, even if you don't intend to paint your nails at all!
2. We take out our strategy kit and prepare all the tools so that everything is at hand. Prepare the film, which needs to be cut into small pieces of different sizes. Cut them somewhere right in a bunch, it is most convenient to cling to them with a thin brush. If you decide to use dry mica, then match the shade to the gel polish, such as green gel and emerald mica, sparkling on your nails. Transparent holographic film looks best on dark shades, black, navy blue and so on. However, you can make "broken glass" on a light background, it will turn out very gently, but maybe not so spectacularly.

3. When everything is ready, remove the top gloss from the nail plate with a buff, clean it with a degreaser and apply a primer. Then apply a base coat, dry in a lamp, and you remember that you need to seal the end of the nail? Having thus prepared the basis, we proceed to creativity.
4. Apply the first layer of color gel and dry, then also the second. If your gels, especially dark shades, are sufficiently pigmented, two coats will suffice, otherwise apply another coat.
5. Now apply a very thin layer of top coat, without drying it in the lamp, we will attach the foil to it. Take a thin brush, slightly wetting it in the same top, poke it into a pile of cut foil or mica so that one piece sticks, and place it on the nail. Look, the most important feature is that you need to drown the film, so that not a single edge of it protrudes, the surface at the very end should be even and smooth. Continue to fix the sparkling pieces on the surface of the nail according to the chosen pattern or your taste. Then apply a top coat on top and dry in the lamp. So our beautiful and unusual manicure is ready!

Manicure " broken glass"or a glass manicure or a nail design with glass fragments (and in the English version it is ) is a new fashion trend of 2016, which was simply captured by a wave of popularity. What is especially nice, such a manicure will be very beneficial for the summer: it is moderately bright, and the brilliance of the glass plays very beautifully with tints in the rays of the sun. Therefore, the coming summer season of nail design is dedicated!

What is needed to create a glass manicure?

The effect of broken glass can be created from various shiny films and even foil or mica in different colors. In the classic design, this translucent thin iridescent film, which is easily and evenly attached to the sticky layer of gel polish. It can be purchased already cut or in the form of a thin strip and cut into the desired size yourself. Thanks to its iridescent tints, it looks equally beautiful on both dark substrates and light gel polishes.

Foil is also applicable for this design, but preferably not translated. In addition, the foil is slightly thicker than the film, which can cause some difficulties when attaching it to the sticky layer of gel polish.

The basis for the design can be anything - from light to dark substrate colors. Broken glass on transparent nails looks very interesting - this is the most natural transfer of the effect. Next, I will show two of my options for this design with gel polish in a light and dark version.

Design "Broken glass" - option 1

Here, as a material for creating the effect of broken glass, I used a shiny foil to match the background color of the gel polish.

Substrate - gel polish Vogue Nails Exciting intrigue celadon, one of those colors that are difficult to capture through a camera lens. This is how it looks on solo nails:

I did not use the foil randomly, but made the design in fragments from large to small: the ring finger is completely in large glass pieces, and on neighboring nails they decrease in size to the smallest fragments. Watch my MK video for more details:

The technique here is quite simple:

  1. The nails are prepared for gel polish coating, a base coat is applied and dried in a lamp.
  2. Nails are covered with colored gel polish in one or two layers, each of which is cured in a lamp. Gel polish must be with a dispersion layer.
  3. If the foil is not cut, then it is better to do it in advance. Now we fix it in a chaotic manner on a sticky layer of gel polish, smoothing it around the edges. You can send a little dry in the lamp.
  4. We apply the final top in two dense layers to hide all the bumps. We dry the top in a lamp and remove the sticky layer, if any.

Design "Broken glass" - option 2

The second version of the design I have is made in light colors and using a special thin film to create a glass effect.

I use gel polish as a base. Patrisa Nail from the Vanguard collection number 320- pale pink, delicate and soft color:

I also used it in . I showed the process of creating a design on the video:

In general, it does not differ much from the first one: the film is glued in the same way, and it is much more convenient to work with it than with foil. But here I added white chaotic lines to the design itself, adding emphasis to the beaten effect. In the same way, you can circle pieces of foil, or you can simply create a broken pattern on top of it. On the ring finger, I also diversified the design, depicting only one shard in the center on it and supplementing it with rhinestones attached to a transparent top (read how to securely attach rhinestones to gel polish).
